A massive thumbs-down for season ticket pricing comes as little shock and the club has accepted that it got things wrong when it increased most prices by 1.5 per cent, leading to a drop in numbers to below 10,000 for the first time since the late 1990s and a reduction in revenue of around £1 million.
The manner in which they switched the age at which senior citizens' tickets kick in compounded the error, as did entirely overlooking mature students.
After an under par season and with an unpopular manager set to remain at the helm, the club needed to do something to woo fans to Portman Road next season. In fairness, plenty of those working at the club, including MD Ian Milne we understand, also realised this but were overruled.
