TWTD Questionnaire 2016/17

Q9 Best match of the season?

In a season of few highlights the vanquishing of champions-in-waiting Newcastle was bound to top the table. It was an afternoon so in contrast to most of the rest of the campaign, a big, noisy and positive crowd and Town dominating for the most part.

The 'narrative structure' of the game, so to speak, was perfect, even down to Daryl Murphy scoring and then not celebrating for Newcastle.

Emyr Huws's thumping close-range volley in the dying seconds was the perfect way to confirm the three points and Championship status, but probably more than anything putting the icing on a rare memorable afternoon.

Other than that, Grant Ward's Roy of the Rovers debut was another very memorable day, probably the only other one - for positive reasons anyway - at Portman Road during the season.

Personally I'd probably have put the win at Sheffield Wednesday ahead of the victory at Villa but both were excellent away victories.

Slightly surprised to see the draw at Carrow Road sneak into the top four, to be honest. Hopefully in a year's time we'll be writing about two derby victories topping the vote in this section.
