McKenna Named Championship Manager of the Season
at 14:53:50

It absolutely amazes me how so many are quick to criticise but not to acknowledge something good! What a tremendous couple of seasons us fans have been treated to, and apart from the very small minority, have and continue to appreciate! Well deserved McKenna and Ipswich Town fc.

McKenna Named Championship Manager of the Season
at 08:51:58

Another milestone hit! And still some question the man! I remember one particular comment on here after our home defeat to Leeds, stating McKenna was a rookie manager who was just about to see how tough life would be in the championship. ‘Tough times ahead’….surely mistaken? Or did he mean tough times ahead for Leicester, Leeds and Southampton, none of which realistically visualised McKenna’s boys currently sitting on top of the pile! No he definitely meant an arduous long season ahead for McKenna! Put your hands up and admit that you got it completely wrong…yet again! Well deserved McKenna and for everyone connected to the club in various aspects.

Ipswich Town 1-1 Middlesbrough - Match Report
at 12:43:34

@blueboy, stop posting such nonsense! You were blowing trumpets for Norwich and now it’s Southampton! Both of these clubs have spent considerable time in the Premier, in total contrast to our demise throughout the Evans era. It’s relevant with all variables considered. We’ve come from ‘nowhere’ since the takeover and instalment of McKenna. Our resources have been pitiful in comparison to Leicester, Leeds, Southampton and other clubs that have dropped into the championship from Premiership over recent seasons! May I also add, unlike for instance, Leicester, we’ve adhered to financial rules! We are excelling all expectations bar the ‘ungrateful few’ that have this ‘miss guided concept’ that we should be ‘blowing away all opposition’. McKenna himself has gone on the record stating he wasn’t expecting his team to be in such a lofty position….play offs were targeted, and most certainly nothing beyond our first season back in the championship!

Where do you get off Blueboy? We have done the double over underachieving Southampton, whom sit adrift of our points tally…games in hand are not points! Norwich’s season has been totally dwarfed by ours in every aspect! So who has wanted it more throughout the course of the season? You are quick to bang on about ‘reality checks’ on the rare occasions when we haven’t won, and used every angle, no matter how ridiculous, to belittle Mckenna’s success over the past couple of seasons. You’ve been proved wrong at every argument and continue to make yourself a laughing stock on this platform!

Leaders Leicester Lose at Plymouth
at 23:26:19

No surprise whatsoever! Every team is scrapping in their right for various reasons. Leicester, Leeds and ourselves have very tough remaining fixtures, and as I’ve been often saying, there’s plenty more twists and turns to come before end of campaign! How outstanding an achievement it is to see our club fighting for automatic promotion!

Blueboy, you constantly look for negativity since Evans was dethroned! So you ‘liked’ a post labelling our boys as ‘bottle jobs’…how insulting with all things considered and yeah, pathetic!

It’s the most difficult time of the season, with teams scrapping for points for various reasons. Disappointing not to have won but that said Watford are a tricky team to play against! We move on with so much to play for….a stark contrast from the Evans era!

@timmy, agree no easy game now, it’s been like that for the past month or so. Watford are very unpredictable but since the change of manager, they’ve hit some reasonable form. Two up at West Brom before slipping to a 2-2, previous to that they played extremely well against Leeds until Dennis left the field of play. My son is a Watford fan , and said last time out, Preston parked the bus at vicarage road. They have some excellent individual attacking players that can win games, as do we, could be a rollercoaster ride!

Leicester and Leeds Drop Points
at 22:28:22

As I’ve been saying there’s plenty of twists and turns still to come! The amount of posts that come on here with knee jerk reactions to a defeat, it’s ludicrous! Check the bigger picture people, it’s not just us that lose the ‘occasional game’, Leeds and Leicester do too!

McKenna: We Didn't Hit Our Usual Levels

@carberry, did I say I was? Typical knee jerk reaction from so many! We move on, in the knowledge that we can see be promoted automatically! It’s remarkable just to say that…some are very forgetful where we were 3 seasons ago…we were cannon fodder!

McKenna: We Didn't Hit Our Usual Levels

It’s absolutely amazing how so many on here know exactly what’s wrong with our team! Those same people shout the loudest when we win, about how good we are! The biggest issue i have with loads of posts on here is, they blend the 90 minutes outcome with the general season. It’s ridiculous! Of course slate a poor performance, but there’s no one Ipswich supporter who can criticise what has happened on and off the pitch over the past couple of seasons! There’s no basis for any argument against the bigger picture. Some need to remember it’s not ‘Roy of the Rovers’ where we win against any opposition that presents itself! Although that said, with the points we’ve accumulated over the last couple of season’s it isn’t that far off ‘Roy of the Rovers’ story lines! Maybe that’s it! So many expect to win every game! Go ask Leicester, Leeds and Southampton if such a thing is feasible! Whilst you are at it, go check the league table…so many need a REALITY CHECK!

Poor performance, and it is obviously more painful losing to our rivals. But when I read posts, for instance, ‘nowhere near good enough AGAIN!’ It’s painful that we have such supporters. So many are unable to see the bigger picture, the points tally doesn’t lie! Leeds lost against their rivals Preston, and the list goes on! It’s the course of a season that earns merits, not one off derby games…whether we win it or lose! These people know so little about football it’s embarrassing!

McKenna: One of the Games You Looked For at the Start of the Season
at 13:08:51

…yeah it would be something special to get promoted…but this team wouldn’t cope at the next level! The club would have to evolve plenty on the field of play to compete! There’s also the viable factors…for instance losing McKenna to another club! It’s been an amazing journey but there’s crossroads that will need navigating sooner than some may think!

Nomore4, how would you interpret our performances against Leeds and Leicester? Zero points and conceded 8 against Leeds and Leicester totally dominated us in both games but failed to capitalise on their superiority! There’s a gulf between our players and the two I’ve mentioned. McKenna has overcome this by maximising points with rest of teams in the league. It’s not just sky pundits….I remember Warnock remarking that Leicester could field two teams that would finish top 6….and on Warnock and other managers, many have complimented Mckenna’s achievements over the past two and a bit season's. And continually remarked ‘over achieving with the tools he has at his disposal’….

@Nomore4, I predicted a play off spot…so well done you for visualising where we currently sit in the championship! I have to totally disagree with your ‘not overachieving’…the bigger picture is we in and amongst last season’s Premiership teams! Comparing our players with Leicester, Leeds and Southampton is laughable! McKenna and the players he’s used to get where we are today is ‘overachieving’….and it’s very blasé to suggest otherwise! Are you seriously suggesting McKenna isn’t being touted as a manager for his management skills and maximising the resources available to him? Again well done for your prediction thus far!

It’s already a 3 horse race for automatic promotion, Southampton don’t have the points on the table, that’s what matters at this stage of the season…games in hand etc aren’t points! The bigger picture is we’ve by far overachieved and now have a chance of obtaining another promotion, without even mentioning the play offs! Leicester have been ‘cruising/ freewheeling ’ for quite some time without really applying themselves, our 2 draws against them are testament to that! It’s extremely difficult to regain that momentum of winning and currently Leicester look ‘vulnerable’ ….interesting day ahead! There’s still plenty of twists and turns to unfold before the end of season!
