Is there no way to force a change at the top? Given it's a trust one would assume it's run by trustees. Therefore, if they're not acting in the best interests of the trust then their position must be untenable?
I know there are those who compare modern British prisons to holiday camps, but being allowed to broadcast on national radio really does take the biscuit.
Norwich fans have been told that their ST payments are now being credited towards next season, and that if they want to go to matches this season it'll cost them £30 per match.
Reading Barney Ronay's article, what's the context of this statement from Millwall? In his article he states:
This may now get much worse. Millwall play QPR on Tuesday night with that pin already pulled. A group of 2,000 home fans will again be present. Both teams intend to take a knee. The talk around the place is that at least one player is prepared to leave the pitch if the boos are repeated.
The way I read this, it sounds like the club has acted unilaterally rather than in consultation with their players. This could be an interesting night in south-east London...
This was the only bit that seemed a little odd to me.
I understand why Cowling has suggested it, but given why the players are taking the knee and their aims and objectives in doing so, to applaud it strikes me as a little, dare I say, patronising?
Watching him against Portsmouth the other week, he seemed to me to have the air of a player trying to prove that he's worth a starting place, and almost overplayed at times.
If he gets a settled run and knows that he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, I'm sure there'll be a big change in his game.
Needs to be treated in exactly the same way as racist chanting. In terms of message it's no different to if those involved chanted "f*ck the blacks" instead of booing.
Yeah, there's footage on a few sites of the booing at Millwall (it certainly doesn't sound like a minority), and I've read that similar happened at WHU, although I've not seen any footage.
After the racism demonstrated by fans at Millwall and West Ham today, the two clubs concerned need to take swift decisive action to show that this sort of thing will not be tolerated. Rather than the usual statements saying 'this isn't good enough' and promising action, they need to identify those responsible (surely it can't be too hard with only 2,000 at each match, and the amount of CCTV at grounds these days) and publicly ban the offenders.
If they choose not to, the FA has to back up its words on racism with action against the clubs. I'd argue that this sort of thing is no different to outright racist chants, and action should be taken accordingly. If fans can't be trusted to behave at matches, the ability to attend should be taken away.
Not sure how to define 'obscure'. Perhaps the stuff you wouldn't normally find on 'That's What I Call Christmas'?
Popmaster on R2 this morning reminded me of this fantastic piece of work (featured on perhaps the best-named album ever - 'Chris Squire's Swiss Choir'):
