Rotherham Match Postponed
at 23:19:33

Just home from Rotherham, having heard of the postponement as we arrived in Sheffield!

It's fair to say this decision could and SHOULD have been made a LOT earlier in the day, but I kind of blame myself too for being gullible enough to believe the 'official narrative' coming out of Rotherham.

Oh well, every day contains chances to grow and learn, and hopefully the refunds/compensation will sweeten our return trip to the re-arranged fixture...

Rotherham: No Concerns About Playing Surface
at 14:46:32

This is SUCH a tricky one!!
I live in South Lincolnshire, and plan to leave at 16.30 for the game, but it's BUCKETING down, and therefore hard to imagine the game being played safely (let alone fans being made to travel in abysmal circumstances!)
Like others have noted, I have no doubt SKY will be pressurising Rotherham to make such statements, as they couldn't care less if it gets cancelled late on/during the match.
As in every single area of modern life: Money Rules (and 'consumers' are irrelevant!!)

Since we're not allowed to swear on here, it's really hard to express my true feelings about today's performance!!!!

Suffice to say, I am very, Very, VERY pleased, and a growing sense of hope and optimism (which I haven't felt for YEARS!!) is continuing to grow...

I am a cyclist, and watching today's match was like a 50 mile ride on a rainy, windy day: hard, exhausting, and at times overwhelmed with the feeling, 'why do I do this?'

BUT, when it's all over, a feeling of deep satisfaction at a job well done (but aware that I need to rest for a bit before going again...)

I really enjoy cycling, and I absolutely LOVE Ipswich - here's to an evening of celebration for us all, before we set off on a very demanding, but MADLY ENJOYABLE season!!

Brilliant. Just BRILLIANT!! The long wait is finally over, and we can start looking forward to Big Championship games again.

HUGE congratulations to KM, and all the players, for making our dreams come true.

After many false-starts (and quite a few utter-nightmares!), it's time to bask in the glory, raise a few beers, and enjoy the moment.

We ARE going up, we are going up!!! COYB! ITID!!

This is turning into a truly WONDERFUL season, and KMcK truly the Right Manager for the RIGHT TIME!!!

With all other Town fans I am gonna be roaring us on to WIN THIS LEAGUE and start getting back to the Town so many of us used to know.

Count me in as a fully-fledged-believer, and see you all at London Road in a couple of weeks (although I couldn't get a ticket with the Town fans, I'll be cheering us on from the home end!!)

Burgess: All We Can Do is Make Sure We Start Next Season Strong
at 10:21:42

I commend the positivity, but the time for platitudes is over. Over the past decade, a lot of people have said and promised a LOT of things.

We simply need to SEE demonstrable change ON THE PITCH.

All else is waffle...

Well, at least that's the death of any end-of-season-stress about the playoffs!!
After the decade we've endured, however, I still feel relieved to have a decent manager at the helm. This means I finish the season hopeful, rather than crushed and desperate, which is a very pleasant change.
Some deadwood needs to go, Kieran needs to bring in a few of his choosing, and we can go again, with optimism, in the new season.
I am already looking forward to Posh at London Road...

Strangely, this result further twisted the knife of pain from last week's late-late equaliser. Nonetheless, I am NOT complaining - McKenna's arrival has injected hope, progress, and great performances, and whether we make it to the Championship this year or not, I feel VERY positive about next year.
I personally feel he's the manager we've been looking for during these very long dire years - Well done Kieran, well done Town, well done the fans, and let's have a determined final push at promotion.

On the one hand, things are more hopeful than for many-a-year, especially in regard to the longer-term future.
On the other hand, I've come to accept that we're still short of a few key players, and that without them a promotion might herald an awful year in the Championship.
Grim though it is, I feel it's realistic rather than defeatist to say I'd prefer us to have one more season in League One, so that McK can fully integrate himself, imbue his ethos into the squad, and make the team entirely his own. By then, I am confident we can approach a step-up with confidence.
I'll ALWAYS want Town to win, but I concede that we're just not ready to face the Championship yet...

It's gonna happen, but I am maintaining faith...

I truly believe we're onto something with McKenna, and it'll do him no harm to experience this against a team on such a bad run. Humility and realism are ESSENTIAL traits for a Town manager/fan.

Dust ourselves down, then go again...

It's nearly 01.00, and I've just arrived back in South Lincolnshire after the match, and I AM STILL BUZZING!!!
This was one of the best times I've spent at Portman Road in YEARS, and I loved the pumping atmosphere, the tenacity on the pitch, the moments of skill, and the never-say-die attitude.
I fully realise it's WAY too soon to make any meaningful judgements, but tonight I feel very happy to have KM at the helm, and for us to face the rest of the season with those most elusive of emotions for us at Town fans: HOPE & OPTIMISM!!
My best friend, a Wolves fan, came with me, and said he hasn't experienced such a passionate crowd in years, especially in the final 10 minutes, as we willed the team across the line.
Tomorrow can look after itself; for tonight, I am one EXTREMELY happy Ipswich fan, who BELIEVES we can look forward to playing Norwich next seaon in the Championship.
It'll be a while before I am able to sleep, and I can't wait until I am next back at Portman Road.

Manager Cook Sacked
at 20:01:58

Always sad when a person loses their job, so I don't want to gloat. However, I've never thought he was the right guy for our Bright New Era, so hopefully they'll spend time getting the right person in.
I feel sad for him as a man, but glad my club can start building properly for the future.

Cook: Our Inconsistency is Our Consistency
at 09:55:31

In my opinion, it's rarely a distinct either/or whose 'fault' it is between manager and players.
However, I do tend to think that if a manager has assembled his own squad, he needs to take the majority of the blame if things then go wrong.
The dictionary definition of a manager is: 'a person regarded in terms of their skill in managing resources'.
In this regard, Cook isn't showing great skill in managing the resources that HE assembled.
It's harsh that it falls on him, especially in this case, when the players don't seem to care. BUT, that's why the manager gets the Big Bucks - it's literally THEIR JOB to put things together, then effectively lead from the front. If the team does well, they get the rightly-earned credit; if the team does badly, they also get rightly-earned criticism.
I hope with all my heart that we gain some consistency, and play regularly to the best of our potential. In the meantime, Cook has to lead, and take responsibility for that leadership. It's kind of the point of BEING the leader... COYB!!!
