Pint for the Punch Campaign
at 18:41:11

Ive got a better idea, speak to a brewery like say Greene King, ask them to make a beer called Suffolk Punch, get them to sell it at the ground, and donate 10p-20p from every pint sold to the trust. Id drink to that :)

Scapegoats
at 22:01:24

should have saved this for April 1st. If you genuinely think Towns supporters are at fault for the mess we are in, well I disagree. Frankly we'd be in the same position in the same league if McCarthy was still in charge, the losing streak of 10 games from his has last 20 games in charge had nothing to do with the fans did it ?. Yet part of me still agrees, because we as fans just accept the performances on the pitch handed to us and grumble quietly on the internet yet turn up every week, if the fans were more agitated, got more vocal, got more critical, complained more vocally, put their point across more loudly to the people running the club, maybe the players would give more effort on the pitch, the manager would demand more from them, but whilst apathy reigns and remains, and people seek scapegoats instead of focusing on the real issues then nothing will change.

We're Coming Straight Back Up and No One Can Tell Me Otherwise
at 13:36:59

Saturday 6th April 2002, away against Bolton at the Reebok stadium as it was then, strangely also the Grand National, a game Town had to win to have any chance of staying in that league...1-0 down after 2mins,we were appalling, worse I'd seen us play that season, game lost by halftime,we were as good as down, didn't even see Claphams consolation as we'd got fed up and walked out. The fans sat around us were as optimistic as your good self don't worry we'll be back next season they said...17 years later whilst I share your hope, i don't share your optimism

No Home Friendly Ahead of 2017/18
at 20:50:54

Phil, theyd know exactly what last seasons friendly cost, it will be broadly in line with those numbers, they had 3713 people turn up, they charged £10 a ticket...I can guarantee it costs more than 40k to open the stadium up for that kind of game even if you close half the stands.

The Question We're All Asking: Is Relegation a Serious Possibility?
at 19:40:30

I think you need to measure 4th from bottom because its that team you have to outscore to get out of the bottom 3, and the average going back to 1992, so nearly quarter of a century has been 49.375 points, ie 50 points, which is the target every manager who gets promoted to the Championship quotes to avoid relegation.

thats 5 wins to guarantee staying up, notjust hope the teams below us lose more games, Town have taken 29 games to win 9 games so far, so we might need at least 15 games to win another 5 based on season form, there are only 16 games left.

it will be uncomfortably close and we'd better hope we dont go into total meltdown as a club, be in no doubt relegation is a serious possibility this season

Town Agree Five-Year Sponsorship Deal With Greene King
at 21:27:15

I suspect GK came in with the better deal, 6 figures is alot just for pouring rights IMO for us, though obv with the stand renaming thing it would be slightly higher (erm havent they printed all the season tickets already with Sir Alf?). Adnams dont have the mega millions of sponsorship money that GK can chuck at this kind of stuff, and Adnams spend quite abit with Newmarket racecourse as well, but to be honest they never really did anything with it did they, a couple of occasional promotions, didnt ever brew a special club beer (most local brewers who get on board with football clubs actually specifically do that because it makes some sense) So I dont know Ive always felt they were quite reluctant partners, maybe its because they see us as this Tesco town not Waitrose town thing ;)

IPA kept and served properly is a match for Southwold Bitter, but you so rarely get it like it, whilst Adnams seems alot easier to keep, and GK are unlikely to do cask beer at the ground it will be keg like they serve at the rugby unfortunately, at least maybe this time that bar at the back of the Coop Stand might get to spell it right, they used to sell Greene King IAP!!

Budget Amendment Would Hit Town
at 22:51:22

its peanuts to the council, its designed to provoke the exact reaction your giving of how dare such a rich person like ME "get away" with this, which distracts you from how much money the council actually spends, wastes or never collects.

17,000 wouldnt even pay the additional costs incurred by an amendment to the budget at this stage !!!

Budget Amendment Would Hit Town
at 23:18:50

its worth pointing out Amex are the biggest private sector company employer in Brighton, so most of the Brighton fans at the very least probably know someone who works for the company or they themselves do, its surely the essence of a community club to have local employers like that, who have a big impact on the fan base, involved sponsoring, whereas try and get a Town fan to explain what the Marcus Evans group actually does for a living, I bet it wouldnt fit on a banner even if they could.

New Kits Every Year
at 20:20:08

this strikes me as a classic accountants solution, I bet the problem is our Mitre deal was worded such that over the two seasons we guarantee to buy a specific amount of shirts per season from them, and we just arent selling that many any more, for obvious reasons, and why the current home shirt is on permanent sale, and the only way to drop the number of shirts the club are forced to buy is either we (as in supporters) get made to pay a higher unit cost to cover Mitres revenue loss for making less shirts, or we keep the unit cost the same but move to this 1 year rotation thing . Ok overall as a club you will sell less volume of shirts, youll actually sell more of the ones youve got so you wont lose as money on each shirt as a result.

IBC Set Town New Payment Schedule
at 20:09:59

@tractorboybig quite clearly thats not true, the GMB union publish data on uncollected council tax, and according to them IBC failed to collect 2.3million pounds for the year 2010/11 alone. just think how many statues could be moved around the town for that kind of money.

650k seems rather like small beer in comparison. but alot of people are making the same mistaken assumption the council have, that ME is a millionaire and can therefore simply afford i because hes rich.

but ME didnt become a millionaire by signing blank cheques for 650k all the time, the club is still monetarily indebted to him and has to propped up purely by his continued investment.

the clear message is that rather than ME paying the difference, it will be the fans who suffer and pay instead.

and Im quite sure Clegg/ME/ITFC would not invent a story such as they have about deals that were made, if it were not true (note the council dont dispute that story, simply theres no record of it)

IBC Set Town New Payment Schedule
at 11:35:59

PJ picks the team, sets the tactics, you can blame previous managers (magilton and keane IMO) for not excelling and leaving a mess behind. but PJ isnt turning the club around, he seems to be just making it an embarrassment to be a town supporter, we carry on at this rate we will get relegated, heavy defeats and the way the team respond to them its more than just weve got mediocre players in the team

Clegg: We Got Wolves Pricing Wrong
at 14:40:59

benefit of hindsight!!! who's he trying to kid, Im surprised he didnt claim everyone in the town was on holiday, fact is it was a rotten choice of team for a game (it might have been more funny had Keane still been in charge) and a completely OTT price for a game that even then Wolves didnt take seriously for 45mins

and if all the commercial analysis that goes on in the club is "well if we'd halved the price we wouldnt have doubled the attendance" then were doomed frankly

Drink Beer - Win Rewards
at 15:56:20

@bournemouthblue yes its different, dont know the specifics, but I do know they dont just deliver the standard stuff because it might be draught, but it neednt be cask, its prob similar to what they use at Newmarket races as well

@warkalone problem is you have to get the number you sell spot on with what you order, as it wont keep for the two weeks in between games, but it can be done though it requires effort/planning and when have the club ever shown the desire to put in effort/planning to serve good food/beer. the award winning pie btw was helped along by Adnams (it has broadside in it)

and no i wont be rushing to the ground early to take advantage of this offer, Ill carry on drinking the far superior Adnams beer at pubs in the town instead.

Drink Beer - Win Rewards
at 15:42:55

agree with some of it, well mostly just the ALB bit really, but dont fall for this "we only lacked a striker business" unless you plan to win games 6-5 all the time, weve let in 8 goals at home in two games, its over 30 odd in total at home and weve only played 21 league games.

so unless were planning to buy somekind of Messi 70 goal a season demon, we need to be looking properly at the whole squad and working out not whether the individuals weve got are the right people (because most frankly arent) but how we can get better ones in.

and these arent knee jerk reactions, these are the same issues the team has had with Magilton, with Keane and now with Jewell, but it might just have taken a game like that , rather than the Chelsea 7-0, to actually bring it home to people.

Town Could Face Legal Action Over Back Rent
at 20:21:30

yes and actually as an IBC tax payer, Im livid the council are treating the club like this given how much extra money and people it brings into the town, fair enough review the rent, increase it even, but back taking the taxes like this is ridiculous, especially given how much money the council fritter away on pointless stuff anyway, its not like its going to a good worthy cause.

fortunately Mr Evans didnt get to be in the position he's in by quietly paying up to every tom, dick and harry who demanded payment like this

Tottenham Confirm Town Friendly

a third string XI (like Harry is not going to take at least 20 or more squad players to Spain with him) managed by an ex budgie, great that will get the crowds rolling in. the more things change the more they stay the same at this club.
