O'Neill Not Expecting Busy Transfer Window
All season I have read nonsense from people on here and on social media saying that 'on paper our squad is more than capable of winning the league'. Wake up.
We were relegated resoundingly, we do not have a divine right to dominate this league.
Look at the players. Nsiala, Kenlock, Donancien, Dozzell, Nolan, and Edwards are all genuinely poor. Skuse and Chambers are getting too old and have not been their best. Multiple injuries, ALL the time. This team is a top 8 team. Nothing more than that and anything that we do deliver above that will be a massive achievement in the face of little investment. There is still an awful lot of dead wood in this side and I will be amazed if we make the play offs by the end of the season.
Lambert on Referee: That Wasn't Acceptable, That Was Incredible
Officiating was scandalously bad tonight. Sometimes refs get it wrong and linos don't see it but tonight was a shambles - the young lino must have seen at least one clear handball of the two in the first half and there is no way he didn't see that it was a goal. Ref let Akinfenwa and others get away with so much pushing, elbowing and pulling and the foul for the penalty was outside the box.
What a save by the way!
Unfortunate that we didn't register a shot on target because we were better than that tonight and had we got one I feel confident we would have got 2 or 3 but there we are.
The Town go marching on.
Ipswich Town 0-0 Wycombe Wanderers - Match Report
You're all digging Chambers out but the foul happened outside the box - yes I'd rather he didn't make any foul at all but it was not a penalty. Hard to feel anything but rage about the standard of officiating tonight.
We did not take enough shots clearly, but at the same time it's a miracle that some of the play was as fluid as it was when they had the ref and the young lino in their back pocket all night.
Big up the Big man between the sticks for preventing a total robbery.
Ipswich Town 0-2 Rotherham United - Match Report
I'm absolutely gutted today because losing 2 on the bounce just brings back the feeling of last year, but ultimately I think it was just a blip. We have to have one at some point of the season, I think we are a good side but maybe the unbeaten run allowed us to think we were better than we are.
If we can keep pace and win the game in hand then we're back on top and we can start to build another run from there.
Lots of negatives from the last 2 games, but providing we don't get too much bad luck with injuries I think the positives from the rest of the season so far will help us to get back to winning ways.
Lambert isn't stupid, he will understand what's gone wrong, but he is right to tinker with things from time to time. COYB
Lambert: I Don't See the Point of the Tournament
No judgement being made here, but to those above who have said they won't go tonight or indeed to any of the matches - would you go if we made it to Wembley?
Purely hypothetical as it looks unlikely from the attitude Lambo has to it, but possible nonetheless.
For my money, the format is the biggest issue with it, a group stage is completely unnecessary when it could have been standard knockout rounds. But I do think winning games is a good habit to be in so would hope we go out there to try to win, regardless of the squad we send out.
Ipswich Town 3-0 Shrewsbury Town - Match Report
I'm not gonna complain about a ref giving us decisions, we've had our fair share of ref-related robberies and the standard in general is shocking - make hay while the sun shines. Top of the league, only 25 places below Nodge, happy days all things considered COYB
Lambert: Bury and Bolton Situations Not Healthy For the Game
I think the biggest problem with this debate between those of us that aren't keen on Evans, and those of us who are is that it gets a bit extreme on both sides. My stance is this;
Yes, we should be glad to have a financially responsible owner who understands the parameters in which he has to work within in order to keep us afloat.
Yes, we should be pleased with the level of investment made in the club in the time Evan's has been with us.
On the other hand;
Evans took over a club which was making steady, if not exciting, progress year-on-year with Magilton. Evans came in to great fanfare of 'we will be a Premier League side within 2 years'.
Unfortunately, the money he invested was in a shoddy manager with a terrible attitude, who he allowed to throw stupid money at pretty shocking players. Tama Priskin, Lee Martin stand out, but even some of the ones who went on to play in the Prem couldn't give a monkeys when they were with us.
After Keane left, again, we got a man who wasn't fit for the job, and we had more players who just didn't care, on stupid wages - Michael Chopra, Jimmy Bullard, Ivan Campo.
Then Mick comes in and did what Mick does, assembled a decent team on a shoestring, with lots of old warhorses and an abundance of loans. Once that relationship broke down, we took a punt on an exciting but relatively unproven manager who was again given stupid money for players not fit for the task.
The result is, we have a manager who has had to work within a small budget in a league below where we were when we started.
This isn't even to mention all of the talents various managers have driven out of the side and have gone on to prove themselves more than capable.
Evans may have invested in the club, but he's never invested smartly. Evans may have made decisions, but they've never been wise ones. Evans may understand finance, but he's never understood football. We are where we are because of poor decision making and although it could be a lot worse had he been a reckless spender, it could have been a lot better had been a reasoned owner with footballing knowledge and awareness.

londontractorboy57 I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately whilst its a quick source of news, its almost impossible to not glance at the comments and feel the inevitable pangs of disappointment take over.
Bolton Wanderers 0-5 Ipswich Town - Match Report
We've been copping a lot of stick on social media for a lack of sportsmanship. Ridiculous, every fan would want their team to do the same and as much as I hope things get better for Bolton, I wouldn't ever want us to go easy on someone. Gutted we subbed Norwood off as I was on track for £300 if he'd got his hat-trick, but definitely smart to rest them up when we can. COYB.
Przybek in Wales U21s Squad
chorltonskylineblue - I wouldn't have thought so because he's not a member of the senior squad set-up. Realistically we signed him as cover for Harry Wright if we send him out on loan and also as a free agent with longer term potential.
Ipswich Town 2-1 AFC Wimbledon - Match Report
First 12 minutes Wimbledon barely had a touch of the ball after kick off. We should have carried on with what were doing because we would have worn them down. Until the subs came on we were pretty poor against a pretty poor side.
Kenlock was an absolute vacuum on the rest of the team for most of the game completely slowing down play and looking like a rabbit in the headlights until the second half where he did inprove but I really think he will be the weak link all season. I just don't think he'll ever be good enough. Donacien was very poor but hopefully that will improve when he is playing as centre back, if he actually gets in the side. KVY can't come soon enough.
Jacko, Judge and Georgiou all made a huge difference and gave Norwood the service he needed. The last half an hour was great to see and probably a valuable lesson that we need to play 442 although fair play to Lambo for trying something different AND realising that it was not working.
Hopefully that will be the wake up call for the two full bacls because they really were not good enough. Onwards and upwards, the unbeaten streak continues and the Town go marching on.
Hopefully we get to play Bolton's kids at the weekend and boost our goal difference. COYB.
Peterborough United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
Slow and steady, gutted that we missed a penalty after waiting so bloody long to get one but hey ho, it happens. Lots of room for improvement but 5 points from 9 (although it should be more) against 3 decent teams is a good start by any standard. One things for sure, if we don't get beat we won't go far wrong. The best is yet to come COYB
Updated: McGreal Confirms Fee Agreed for Vincent-Young
That's more like it, a good start and based on the fact there is a fee involved I assume its one that Lambo actually wants rather than an 'oh s***, we need to sign someone'. Look forward to seeing him play and hopefully deliver.
Luton Town 3-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
No point being concerned with thia, it wouldn't be a priority for us with a full strength squad and I believe Luton will finish top half of the Champ this year. What's more concerning is the never-ending cycle of injuries. Absolutely gutted about Garbutt. COYB
Lambert: If We Don’t Make That Error, We Win the Game
Chambers actually played very well bar the mistake, and Wilson was dropped because he's not match fit, only playing last week through necessity. Good work today Town, just one of those unfortunate moments. Onwards and upwards. COYB
Evans on Relegation, New Arrivals and the Promotion Challenge
Says the right things but will he deliver? We had this at the end of the season and got to say it's largely been untrue. We will see if we do make any signings but I find it hard to believe much of what he says.
Positive about the manager and the players on the pitch, not confident that the man with the money means what he says. His poor decisions have put us in this position, hopefully he can string some good ones together to get us out.
