In under the radar, love it! Hope he turns out to be a good'un! Don't know much about him but I see he's played one game in the Champions League so should have some pedigree at least. I would imagine if he wasn't any good he would of never made it through the Spurs academy and would of been released before. Fingers crossed Lambert has pulled a rabbit out of the hat with this one!
How did Edwards look today anybody? He looked like the Suffolk Ronaldo briefly at the start of last season but he does seem a bit injury prone and inconsistent, as some of the Posh fans warned us. But when he's in the mood he's an exciting player to watch.
Sorry TimmyH I'm multi-tasking here, football, cricket, and horse racing, brain is saturated! Got carried away with the points tally, think because it was a late goal it sort of felt almost as good as a winner! Posh fans will be gutted conceding so late. At least we kept the undefeated record in tact. Still plenty of things to work on training ground on but at least they showed character and managed to grab a point at the end. :-)
Well Capt. Fist Pump dropped us 2 points last week and yet won us 2 points back today so that makes it all square. Only listened on the radio as wanted to watch the cricket at the same time on the box. Not sure of what to make of that!!? Second half sounded quite disjointed at times. Norwood's pen sounded very soft but at least he's off the mark but always disappointing to miss a penalty, yet on his highlights reel he seemed to be very confident from the spot. Well we're still undefeated in the league so that's something but still feel like there are some rough edges to be ironed out if we're to get promoted. Judge isn't really doing the business yet either. Was hoping for more but still relatively early days but if he doesn't wake up soon then it's going to seem like a long month or so waiting for Garbutt to return to action. And just want to end by saying, when was the last time we scored from a corner!!!??? Feels like quite some time ago! At last we've managed to convert one! Would of obviously liked all 3 points but if somebody had offered me a point on 90 mins I would of snapped their hand off! A win on Tue night would be a huge boost now. And I wouldn't mind seeing Dobra coming into the first team picture now based on his performance in the week.
Do our scouts not get paid for petrol beyond Essex!? Only joking! Seems an odd one this! Does he want to put the league on notice so they sign his best players? 1 or 2 look bright in the highlights from Tue to be fair:
Marcus Heavens above, seems like his wallet has come out of hiding from the Bermuda Triangle! Lambert rocking the boat seems to have flushed it out of hiding! I got stick at the time for saying it but I always said Mick should of given Marcus a "back me or sack me" ultimatum. Lambert's recent rumblings of discontent were tantamount to just that! Given all the unexpected sell on percentages we got from the likes of Webster and Moore I don't think it was unreasonable for Lambert to demand some backing in the transfer market. And as they say, better late than never! Hopefully there will be 1 or 2 more to follow. I'm by no means an Evans convert (still got a long way to go for me) but we called for Lambert to get some funds and looks like Paul is finally getting some help at least! We know money is extra tight so we just need to hope it gets spent wisely. Personally I'd much rather we sign a 23 year old with potential than a washed up Dwight Yorke from Man Utd! Keane certainly didn't have the luck of the Irish when it came to his transfer dealings at ITFC!
Sorry the link above didn't work, try typing Rob Hewes Ipswich into a YouTube search and that will come up with the channel of the person that has been posting the old nostalgia ITFC vids, some really good ones!
@TractorRoyNo1 - I've been watching some of the old highlights of that era and it just amazed me how simple Ipswich kept it then. The players were constantly making intelligent runs so that easy passes and options were nearly always readily available and they had such team chemistry and rapport. The passing and possession was like poetry in motion. And of course with the likes of Mariner and Brazil there was always a cutting edge to finish off the lovely movement. And Eric Gates, he was like the creative gatekeeper to unlock the teams, what a player! They really made it look easy! Football doesn't need to be rocket science. Mick Mills stands out in the vids too - as do several others such as Muhren (obviously!) and more than I can mention! We really were spoilt for riches! You can watch here: Sadly (as is often the case in football) good times end quicker than bad times!
Looking forward to seeing him play. Anybody seen much of him before? What do the Colchester fans make of him going I wonder? I'd probably trust the judgement of a season ticket holder at Colchester better than I would Paul Hurst!
Here's an upbeat thought in the spirit of the comments section this evening. The people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon. And the less important ones never go away. How's about that? Does that make any of you feel better about life here on planet TWTD? ;-)
@ blueboy1981, the fallout and divisions of Mick and now Evans has made for a divided fan base. Until we have a decent team we can all unite behind again it will probably remain pretty fractious between some elements of us going forwards. You only need to look on the comments following the result last night for example. My approach is that it's probably better to have those I don't always agree with inside the tent peeing out, than outside the tent peeing in. We sometimes forget the real enemy is down the road in Naaaaridge but sadly they have been peeing all over us of late too. Hopefully one day we'll all be united again in the ITFC tent peeing out all over them again, but not sure if my prostate can hold out that long! I'll do my very best to hold on though as that would be one hell of a satisfying pee if I can somehow hold out for that long! ;-)
