Nailed on TV match, too.

Ipswich Town 2-2 Norwich City - Match Report

KM’s post match comments - spot on. Perhaps more illuminating were Chris Sutton’s pearls of wisdom on Sky! Talk about road to Damascus conversion……..!

Take the point and move on - some tough challenges lie ahead. Any lessons learned from today will need to be applied. I think we all know what they are! COYB!

McKenna: It Shouldn't Have Been 3-2
at 20:21:42

We are still very much ‘work in progress’, with huge scope for consolidating and improving. Given where we’ve come from, to be sitting joint top of a highly competitive league, is totally amazing. I suspect KM will have firm, measured, words regarding how we managed the final 20 mins of the game.

Ipswich Town 3-2 Swansea City - Match Report
at 18:03:24

Crazy first half of football! At our best, going forward/creating chances, we are at times unplayable. Everyone can see that we need to be a tad more clinical in front of goal, whilst our defending and game management needs KM’s full attention. Not intended as negative criticism for a team that remains work in progress.

So a massive well done to all involved today, including magnificent support! Sitting atop the league, with the prospect of still better to come. Happy Days indeed!

Rotherham United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 09:47:49

Substandard officials unquestionably affected last night’s result. However, as both KM and young Taylor have said, our overall performance was a mixed bag. Nights like this are part and parcel of the game, and we did not lose! Analyse what happened, pull out the obvious lessons and move on. We know where we’ve set the bar - let’s get back there on Saturday.

Blues Face Rotherham Aiming to Profit From Game in Hand

Agree, SB, there’s no huge cause for concern; however, I think VH has played a massive part in achieving those stats! As long as we score more than we concede, then happy days!

Blues Face Rotherham Aiming to Profit From Game in Hand

No question that the lads will be laser focussed and give maximum effort - KM and SM will accept nothing less. Bro, however, have a concern - as will others - regarding our ability to avoid conceding soft goals; usually from balls down the side, and crosses into our box. Responsibility for stopping such breaks rests not just with our defenders. Outfielders have a big responsibility for not loosing possession through sloppy, misplaced, passes. Something KM will undoubtedly have clicked! COYB!

Ipswich Town 4-3 Blackburn Rovers - Match Report
at 21:01:43

A pulsating, entertaining and, at times, Premiership quality, game. Massive plaudits to both players and coaching staff for everything they did to snatch the 3 points. It was an outstanding, see-saw, game that, in truth, could have gone either way. In previous seasons we know what would have happened! Not under McK though.

KMcK will be all to aware of the improvements that need to be achieved as we continue our amazing journey. We’re slightly unbalanced in terms of midfield/forward quality, and need for our defence to play consistently to the same high standard. In many ways it’s down to speed of thought, anticipation, concentration and reaction when under pressure - so much quicker at this level. But 2nd in the league - fantastic! COYB

Reading 2-2 Ipswich Town (1-3 on Penalties) - Match Report
at 22:33:23

Good to progress - but made had work of it. Far too many misplaced passes, sloppy play and poor decision making. Ball and Edmomson not first team quality.

But we won - so let’s hope for a ‘big team’ next. Failing that, NCFC!

Chaplin: We Were the Better Team and Had the Better Chances
at 13:42:13

The first half collective and individual defensive ricks were totally inexplicable - even given the potency of their front line. Similarly, Hladky was way below the standard enquired at this level. Did we start with some sort of psychological inferiority against a ‘big name’ outfit?

KMcK will no doubt conduct a thorough and unemotive review of those key moments that resulted in us conceding such poor goals; and act to reduce the chances of future repetition. I suppose the ‘elephant in the room’ question is: a where are the weaknesses in our defensive unit, and how do we bring in better quality.

A not untypical, if unfortunate, outcome in the world of pro football. Would be churlish other than to thank Joe for his efforts whilst a Town player, and wish him good fortune at his new club. Pity it didn’t work out - all parties move on.

Lessons will be learned.......and re-learned.......oops: we need to remember what the questions were!

Seriously, whilst acknowledging a great recovery, and chances to even nick it at the death, until KMck and the players acknowledge and address our defensive frailties - basic and totally avoidable errors - we will be forever hamstrung within this awful league.

Morsy: These Are the Sort of Games You Want to Play In
at 20:54:24

One of the most lucid, astute and grounded pre-match player interviews, demonstrating SM's football intelligence and natural leadership qualities. Teams comprise human beings, not robots or computer agents, with all the strengths and frailties as the rest of us. Hopefully, tomorrow, any nerves and doubts will be cast aside, and a ruthless winning mentality adopted, refusing to accept anything less than three points. Self and collective belief.....COYB!

Hirst: That Needs to Be Our Base Level of Performance
at 13:22:14

Sensible, if not somewhat predictable, comments. But consistency in maintaining ‘base line' standards will only be achieved if we can eliminate conceding sloppy, late, goals through loss of collective concentration. We have to become mentally tougher and acquire a winning mentality.

McKenna: First Half Well Below the Acceptable Standard
at 20:52:30

Just consider the fully justified comments and reaction of the CU manager on his team's performance; as opposed to KMcK's downbeat summary following another milky performance. Whatever the missing ingredient needed to instil passion, fight and mental toughness into a bunch of talented, yet wildly inconsistent players, he and his considerable support team need to identify it and implement action asap. Becoming known for being consistently inconsistent is not somewhere we want to be.
