Blues Among Clubs Linked With King's Lynn Midfielder
at 05:51:29

MonkeyBlue- yes it may be rare these players are like diamonds in the rough, if they don't work out though it's a low risk decision (low cost, low wages).

I didn't see enough from Lankester last season to convince me he is a serious contender in the long run. However, I'd rather a competitive low risk choice like this rather than a Huws any time

Dolphinpie- our 10k signing from Chippenham Town was sold for £8m and is now playing for England at a major tournament.

A much better signing than Sereni and many other multi million pound players we have signed in the last 20 years.

McCarthy: Town Players Facing Pay Cuts of 50 or 60 Per Cent

Is this tvvat club spokesperson or something? Naff off Mick you insufferable old troll.

And I am glad players are taking pay cuts, no less than they deserve after their abysmal performances this year

Hurst: Both Goals Were Very Avoidable
at 18:30:49

Performances and games played at the moment are not the worry; the worry is we have recruited a new spine in the team which is at the moment not proving capable of playing in the Championship. It's a real concern. We don't look like scoring and we always look like we will concede. There's only one outcome to that.

McCarthy Bitterly Disappointed But Pleased With Performance
at 15:39:37

I'd agree with him on the first half performance, but certainly not the second. As soon as we went behind we defaulted to direct football and Norwich soaked it up all day long. We are ineffectual when going behind and rarely look like getting back into it when we do.

We need to take our chances and we had them in the first half.

Town Sign Wolves Defender Iorfa On Loan
at 17:54:38

Jas...

Just about sick of your moaning about loan players. We've had some quality loan players who have really helped the club and add the calibre of quality we are only ever likely to see permanently if we one day actually do make it ba ck to the Premiership.

This guy is an England U21 international, pacy, 6 feet 4, and probably a better player than Emmanuel at present; Emmanuel has been loaned to a team where he is likely to play 46 games and come back a better player next season. This guy is also versatile.

Suddenly we have 3 players capable of playing at right-back (Spence, Iorfa, Chambers), 2 lefties (Knudsen and Kenlock) and a whole batch who can capably play at CB (Smith, Webster, Chambers, Iorfa, Knudsen and if we sigh him, Taylor).

Good business. Now if we can add 1 more quality wide-man and a decent target man I will be quietly optimistic.

Celtic Confirm Benyu Signing
at 20:56:49

Let's face it, he impressed in non-league! He has done nothing to prove he might make it as a professional footballer, yet strutted as if he were already an established premiership player. Therein lies the problem.
Good luck to the kid- he will need it- but not losing any sleep or tears over this.

McCarthy: We're in a Relegation Scrap
at 18:40:24

The buck stops with you, McCarthy. January 2016 till 2017 were poor but we seem to have downed another gear since. How many times do we have to hear of poor defending before the undroppables are dropped for their poor form?

McCarthy: Beaten By the Champions
at 18:27:59

What an incredibly annoying comment that is from MM, beaten by the champions, really? You're declaring a team champions on October 22nd going totally against your usual policy of saying don't worry about the league table until February or March.

The fact of today is our game-plan was undone after 60 seconds and we had no plan B, we never do have a plan B. We are still incredibly weak up-front, even if Best played well our only out-and-out striker on the pitch has managed a grand total of 0 in his games this season. Number 1 role of a striker has got to be one capable of finding the net.

We saw off Burton but they have a poor defence and will always ship goals, that does not mask for me the point that a massive lack of goals is likely to go on and cost us. I do not see us getting more than 7 or 8 before January and when that comes, we really need to seriously sort that weakness out.

McCarthy: Performance Deserved Win
at 18:54:53

We play reasonably- neither poor nor good- but it is concerning because Blackburn were dreadful. MM seems to be judging our result against his history of results as Blackburn across 4 years, rather than the pi$$ poor Blackburn side that was on display today.

We are woefully short up-front; Best is looking alright but playing him as a lone front-man does not work, he'd be much better suited to having a man alongside him.

But who? Sears needs dropping. He's jaded and has no confidence; his body-language is all out, his head drops, he is never looking towards goal, he runs looking at his feet. Pitman would be a good call but obviously not when he's injured, and, well, McGoldrick and Varney are never going to be players capable of playing 90 minutes.

For all the will in the world, if you do not have the personnel to put the ball in the net you are going to be fighting at the wrong end of the table. Our short-sightedness at letting Murphy go without having a contingency plan to replace him (Best wasn't a contingency, he was a desperation) and more importantly, to adapt without him, is not just looking like costing us this season, but actually sending us into the wrong kind of fight.

5 games without a goal is unacceptable, regardless of how you play. This is the spear-head of a longer-term concern around our goal threat which has been a concern for the better part of a year now.

Better teams (the entirety of the league, bar Best's releasing club Rotherham) will punish us. And we do not look like we are capable of hitting back. We need serious changes in some respect.

Joyless, Joyless Ipswich
at 15:47:06

Joe- it's an almost impossible expectation to ignore social media and message boards in 2016, as it has replaced the footballing experience that grandstand, teletext and to an extent, radio used to bring to fans who cannot, for whatever reason, attend the match day experience.

But to the blogger I would also say, this is not a phenomenon unique to either our club or even football. The age of the Internet has ushered in a time where people can share very vocal criticisms on a public level that was not possible before. Previously such things were shared by writing to your local paper (who would only select "the best" to publish) or the horrible radio phone-in, which has been a medium for moaning as far back as the Burley days.

You look at the hate other clubs get- even the likes of Arsenal are unceasingly blasted by fans on a weekly basis- and this extends to films, to shows, books etc. The age of the Internet has given everyone in the world the chance to express an opinion, and the fact is, humankind is simply a miserable species happier moaning and with more to talk about if there's negatives or unheavels to discuss.

Murphy Completes Newcastle Move
at 10:39:40

All the best Daryl....
Can't help but feel your agent has a copy of the most cliched new-club player comments though!

All in all I feel this is a good move from ITFC; to bag £3m for a 33 year old is an amazing bit of business really. His purple patch of 2 years ago is highly unlikely to be replicated. What we will miss however is his excellent hold-up play, he was arguably the best in the championship at this. Looking at our current front-line, it is difficult not to worry about where the regular goals are going to come from.

Town 4-2 Barnsley - Match Report
at 17:16:04

God, to think we blew £600k on Grant Ward!....

Great start to the season; sure there will be concerns over conceding two soft goals, and the by contrast 2015-16 style first half. But the second half showed what we can do with a bit of natural quality width, to score 4 goals at home is a welcome change and hopefully a standard setter of intent to how we will go about business at Portman Road this season.

Mick doesn't need millions, but back him with a bit of money and he can pull off a quality deal. For all the multi-millions spent in Championship close season, this weekend belongs to Grant Ward.
