Judge and Dozzell Win Caps in Draws
at 22:55:57

I was at the game and Dozzell looked assured in the central midfield role. I have noticed a real change in all our holding midfield players. When they get the ball, their first thought is ‘can I get it forward?’ Unfortunately, England played one up top although they would argue it was three. the two wide boys were virtually ineffective having been cancelled out by a very good Dutch defence. It was a very dull affair with hardly a sniff at goal at either end. The highlights for me were the crowd of over 2000 and some good individual performances (including Dozzell).

Bolton Boss Departs Ahead of Town Visit
at 20:10:18

If the game goes ahead on Saturday, credit must go to the Minions of BWFC. Think of the ticket office staff, the turnstile operators, the catering staff, the stewards et al. Turning up to work time and time again not knowing if or when they will get paid. I recall the players paid the staff’s wages one month just to keep things ticking over. Is it time the EFL insisted clubs set aside funds in case of problems like this (like the govt has with the banks) as part of the fit and proper person process. Bolton will be ok once the joke of a takeover gets done. They haven’t even sold one season ticket yet. I’m afraid the last rites have been read over Bury FC though. Gigg Lane will become a housing estate and we will be left with our memories such as the last away match of 97/98 and fancy dress and all that.

Debutant Norwood Partnered By Jackson as Blues Start League One Season at Burton

I got 10/11 I just didn’t dare to dream of two up top. Really pleased about Rowe and Garbutt. It almost looks like 4-2-4 so the partnerships down both flanks are crucial. COYB

Town Topic: How Will the Blues Fare in 2019/20?
at 12:41:39

In each of the last two seasons, the teams gaining automatic promotion from league one have all scored 80 or more goals. They have also had a goal differential of 40 or better. I can’t see Town achieving either of these benchmarks. Based on that, I’m hoping for promotion via the playoffs. I think anything less than a top six finish would be a failure.

Town Among Clubs Linked With Bolton Defender
at 11:54:30

I thought there was compensation if a player is under a certain age. I guess that doesn’t apply if they’re not offered terms. What a mess football is in. We should count ourselves fortunate.i remember when Clubs came in and cherry picked our best players when we were in administration

Bent Open to Town Return
at 10:40:46

Can trialists still turn out for the U23s? If so it would be interesting to see today’s team sheet. If there isn’t a trialist in there then I doubt Bent or any other free agent will be coming in. I’m not convinced we need anyone anyway. Sears and Jackson are ok and the midfield are finally starting to support the frontman.

Downes Back for Blues at Hull

With our current squad, for once it doesn’t matter who he picks or leaves out with the possible exceptions of Chambers, Knudson and Walters. It’s more important that players are in the right positions. I just the midfield and fullbacks can offer a bit more support to the frontman. COYB 3-1 Town

Gerken Starts as Bart Dropped in Much-Changed Town Derby Line-Up

Bart has looked edgy so far this season Today’s result could come down to us getting away with the one howler that Gerkin makes in every game. That said I’m going for a strong town win. I think we are ready to take the next step. 3-1 Town COYB.

Town Again Linked With Accrington Striker
at 15:25:41

Playing young players with pace, hunger, passion and work ethic, playing for the shirt and for each other, pressing high and getting the ball forward quickly can get you a long way. For instance, with the right man in charge it can get you to a World Cup semi-final. RIP Dad’s Army football. Long live football. It makes you wonder when some of the old guard managers last went on a coaching course. The new way is certainly not how we were taught by the older managers of yesteryear.

Hurst: Derby Waghorn Interest News to Me But We've Had a Conversation
at 14:55:37

I was at the Derby away game last season and their best player was Richard Keogh and he’s only 31. Nugent hasn’t looked his best the last 2-3 games I’ve seen him. Tom Lawrence would be more than welcome back here. As others have said, wages could be a problem.

Wilder Reveals New Blades Bid for Waghorn
at 16:32:08

There are three members of our squad who should not be for sale for anything less than silly money. They are Bart, Waghorn and Dozzell. But if silly money is offered, we have to consider it. But it has to be the right offer. What if Derby offered Tom Lawrence and £3m for Waghorn, surely we should consider that. What would be unforgivable is if we sell Waghorn at any price without having already lined up a suitable replacement.

Hurst "Surprised By One or Two Things" That Are "Nowhere Near Good Enough"
at 16:04:09

Even back in my day we were expected to come back from close-season in reasonable shape but the same two guys always came back a bit overweight and out of condition. They were two of our best players and they always seemed to get away with it. That was until a new manager came in and made them train with the U18s until they were fit enough to train with us. Surprisingly, squad morale was boosted by this and we had a great season. I admire what PH is trying to do wth this squad
