Coach Hogg Set to Join Newcastle
at 09:03:44

Best of luck Hoggy
I’m not surprised by this following Lambert’s throw away comment that players don’t learn anything in the U23s.

Blackpool Linked With Nolan Move
at 15:25:59

Possibly our most improved player second half of last season. Unfortunately he’s probably too far down the pecking order to get many chances this time around. He’s good enough for our squad especially as Downes is one card away from a two match ban but it’ll take that and an injury to Scuse or Huws for Nolan to get a start. I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved on.

Lambert: McGavin and Drinan Need Senior Football
at 12:35:18

PL makes a valid point, some of the lads do need to go out on loan. However, if I was Gerard or Chris I would quit. ‘U23s isn’t teaching them anything’ so what’s the point. I think he gets his tact from the Donald Trump school of diplomacy.

Blues and Hatters Linked With Newcastle Full-Back
at 09:59:10

Cheers DM. I’m sure PL sees it too but he’s been hamstrung by the hand he’s been dealt and financial constraints. I’m hoping him signing a new contract is a sign that he’s been made certain assurances.

Blues and Hatters Linked With Newcastle Full-Back
at 09:14:52

We are desperate for two fullbacks and a right winger would be nice. Football is still a very simple game. You still need two solid lines of defence working as a unit whenever the opposition has the ball and you need width when you have the ball. Good teams have good partnerships all over the pitch. In central defence, central midfield and up front we have enough quality and experience to compete in league one. It is out wide where we are lacking. We currently have zero full backs or wing backs worthy of the name. You need two players working together down each flank both defensively and in attack. We just don’t have that. That is one of the reasons we can’t score and can’t defend.

If I was Wilson I’d be looking to move on if I couldn’t get into this team ahead of Toto. Nice to see Freddie on the bench.

Coventry City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:56:45

I’m on my way home not too disappointed. We got what we deserved no more no less. We don’t do one up top very well. Despite dominating midfield, Downes and Dozzell managed to kill most Town forward momentum whenever they got the ball. By the time we realised that Judge and Rowe had acres of space down the channels without receiving the ball, they had stopped making the runs (apart from the goal obviously). Robins made good substitutions which put Coventry on the front foot after our goal. MOM for me was Coventry’s right back) Dabo. For Town it was 630 Town supporters in fine voice closely followed by Keane who despite not having many chances was a real handful.

Judge: I'm Not Going to Kid Myself, I've Been Shit But Rochdale Felt More Like My Old Self
at 19:35:30

This more than anything shows the quality and class of Paul Lambert. He seems like an arm around the shoulders kind of guy. McCarthy would have played AJ week after week just to put two fingers up to the fans and Hurst would have just stopped talking to him and shipped him out in January. We all know that AJ is quality, I just hope PL can get the best out of him.

Barton: Probably as Bad as a Group of Players as Ipswich Have Had in a Long Time
at 13:32:22

Or for the first time in twenty years we have a squad worthy of the name. For years we’ve had to patch up our injured players and throw them in. Now even some of our decent, fit players are being rested.

Wycombe Postponement Confirmed
at 20:04:51

This was always going to happen and not just to us. There were only 7 league one games on 7th September. With a little bit of forethought the EFL might have scheduled EFL cup games during the international breaks. That would allow us to watch some football, fringe players to get some game time and a little bit of pressure to be taken off the fixture schedule.

Judge and Dozzell Win Caps in Draws
at 22:55:57

I was at the game and Dozzell looked assured in the central midfield role. I have noticed a real change in all our holding midfield players. When they get the ball, their first thought is ‘can I get it forward?’ Unfortunately, England played one up top although they would argue it was three. the two wide boys were virtually ineffective having been cancelled out by a very good Dutch defence. It was a very dull affair with hardly a sniff at goal at either end. The highlights for me were the crowd of over 2000 and some good individual performances (including Dozzell).

Bolton Boss Departs Ahead of Town Visit
at 20:10:18

If the game goes ahead on Saturday, credit must go to the Minions of BWFC. Think of the ticket office staff, the turnstile operators, the catering staff, the stewards et al. Turning up to work time and time again not knowing if or when they will get paid. I recall the players paid the staff’s wages one month just to keep things ticking over. Is it time the EFL insisted clubs set aside funds in case of problems like this (like the govt has with the banks) as part of the fit and proper person process. Bolton will be ok once the joke of a takeover gets done. They haven’t even sold one season ticket yet. I’m afraid the last rites have been read over Bury FC though. Gigg Lane will become a housing estate and we will be left with our memories such as the last away match of 97/98 and fancy dress and all that.

Debutant Norwood Partnered By Jackson as Blues Start League One Season at Burton

Town Topic: How Will the Blues Fare in 2019/20?
at 12:41:39

In each of the last two seasons, the teams gaining automatic promotion from league one have all scored 80 or more goals. They have also had a goal differential of 40 or better. I can’t see Town achieving either of these benchmarks. Based on that, I’m hoping for promotion via the playoffs. I think anything less than a top six finish would be a failure.

Town Among Clubs Linked With Bolton Defender

I thought there was compensation if a player is under a certain age. I guess that doesn’t apply if they’re not offered terms. What a mess football is in. We should count ourselves fortunate.i remember when Clubs came in and cherry picked our best players when we were in administration
