The 'Tinpot' East Anglian Derby
at 17:42:01

Been on here for years so nobody tell me I dont bleed blue...but I'm also a realist.

All you need to know about Ipswich and Norwich can be learnt by taking ten steps outside their train stations

In one you emerge into a vibrant atmosphere which helps to give a spring in your step...

In the other you take a look around and think "oh my god what a total dosshouse..." where ironically the only sense of any real kind of 'community' is our stadium in the distance..

Our town is like our team. Gone to hell in a handcart..

Sad but true nonetheless...

Town Confirm Bree Loan Signing
at 18:02:08

I really want to eat my words..and hope i do BUT we are going down arent we?
So why the hell have we got yet another player who wont be here next season??..
what arent we preparing for league one so we hit the ground running in August? and have best chance of bouncing straight back up..
Surely that has to be done with youth..we have them...lets play them and get them up and running for August.
This is all short term fantasy that we MIGHT escape..it ain't gonna happen..
Will someone at PR please get real ffs! we are going down and all these journeymen will be gone in May. Leaving us to to start over in August playing already settled and established League 1 sides.

If anyone thinks league 1 will be a doddle then they are sorely mistaken. I watch a lot of national league football (mostly Orient) and can tell you the quality at even that level is better than some of the dross served up this season in the championship!

I do think Lambert is the man for us. But he's doing one thing the same as Hurst - Too many new faces at the same time. Difference? - its way too late now to make a difference and these ones won't be here come May.

Start to build something with solidity, with some foundations...not another house of cards that needs to be re-built again in May/June/July.

Marcus: Thanks For the Cash But You Need to Speak
at 11:13:51

Great blog

With one important subject matter that is rarely discussed. The fact the town, not just the club, is dying on its backside..

I guess football plays its part (it can raise a towns spirits and economy) but years of shortsided planning decisions etc has ruined the town.

Its so sad. Ipswich is actually a truly historic place with some beautiful buildings and situated in an equally beautiful part of the country. It shouldn't be the wasteland it is now.

I challenge anybody walking out of Ipswich station not to think.. "jeez what a dump!"

tragic..

Town Announce New Shirt Sponsor
at 16:54:17

I thought it was the low point when the bloke sent off (thru sheer stupidity and contributing to a 4-1 loss) the previous game appeared chirpily co-commentating on Radio suffolk the very next match!
Yes I thought thaaat was the low point for this club in not realising what us/the fans of this club must think (they must have allowed it)

I was sooo wrong..

this takes us to unchartered depths...
like a dodgy ref "THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEYRE DOINGGGGG!

McCarthy Has No Intention of Walking Away and Plans to Build Again at Town
at 14:22:49

if there was anyone ever telling someone that i'm not going anywhere so you'll have to pay me to get rid..it was that interview.

No class..

whatever the reasons, right or wrong..if you are that unpopular you should be a man and go. You should speak to the owner, tell him they should thrash out a compromise agreement so he and the cllub can move on with dignity.

He doesnt need the money so this is pure and utter pigheadedness

All respect for him gone..and there was little to start with.

and quite honestly, the team he inherited? well most of us could have been the 'messia' he clearly thinks he his and saved us from relegation.. Derby did us a favour for the play offs before we were made to silly by the budgies. loads of drivel since then and even the most recent win (wigan) was three defensive errors from them..
its all just a shocking state of affairs..
GO!!!!

McCarthy: Brighton a Huge Test
at 18:02:37

Phil..cant you just do this..

Albion, who are managed by McCarthy's close friend and former Republic of Ireland team-mate Chris Hughton, beat Huddersfield 1-0 at home, Burton 1-0 away and, after a 2-1 reverse to Reading at the Amex Stadium in the EFL Cup, defeated Barnsley 2-0 at home last time out.

“They're a huge test, they've won three on the bounce, as had Leeds on Saturday,” said McCarthy, whose team go into tonight's match 14th, five points behind the visitors.

“They'll be full of confidence. They don't change very much in terms of....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Reading 2-1 Town - Match Report
at 09:14:33

I had the misfortune to waste one evening of a hard earned holiday watching a boring, predictable championship game in a sports bar on the Costa..
The league is going to suffer in terms of watch-ability if Sky feature too many games like this - all championship games seem to be totally bereft of any quality whatsoever..
As far as Ipswich are concerned the boredom around the bar said it all..one fellow viewer piped up with "what happened to the proper tractor boys? (Attractive football)"
I could only answer - "mick McCarthy"
PPS How McCarthy can question knudsons stupidity is beyond belief!
PPS thank goodness I can watch United v City later - some proper holiday entertainment!!! (and its not about the money - there's no reason why the championship should be dull as dishwater

McCarthy: Dozzell Might Be Better in Midfield Three
at 15:05:38

"Bish is, without a doubt, the star man when he comes on, the best player on the park, without a doubt.”

every rule of team management/culture broken with that statement...the mind boggles. Can you imagine Raneiri saying something like that??!

Only reason i can see for such a crass message is that Evans has told him to get him in the January shop window...(probably an overly cynical suggestion but nothing would surprise me these days with that pair)

McCarthy Delighted With "Prodigious Kids"
at 10:38:02

“It's a fantastic opportunity for the boys to take because the squad's not the biggest and if you're a young player at Ipswich Town and you're good enough, you're going to get an opportunity. I wouldn't really want to be anywhere else if I was a young player at the moment.”

PLAY THEM THEN... YOU F****** DINOSAUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..i'd rather be mid table or even worse with some youthful enthusiasm, building for a future (even if its elsewhere) than 'hoofalongamick' with journeymen "putting a shift in.."

McCarthy: McGoldrick Doing Well
at 11:17:29

football is a business..
in any business a team member with consistent health issues gets supported to a point where if it becomes untainable and they consistantly cannot be relied upon to contribute (do the job they get paid for) they then must move them on..again in a supportive way.
This guy has become the Darren Anderton of ITFC.. a talented but nonetheless consistent 'sicknote' who cannot be relied upon...end of story...
Be supportive but move him on.
