| News Comment | Midfielder Evans Leaves Town at 14:41:33
It's a shame, he's a lovely player. The pass for Freddie to run onto at Reading in the Carabao was utterly sublime. Good luck Lee! |
| News Comment | Hladky: Massive Three Points at 09:51:07
Isn't it great knowing that we've got two such good goalkeepers? Vaz has been brilliant this season, long may it continue! |
| News Comment | Rosenior: Ipswich Are Going to Be an Outstanding Team this Season at 16:31:38
Great to hear honest opinions about George Hirst's impact again. Dean Holden was equally open after we put 6 past Charlton last season, and if opposition managers are talking about him like that it must've been really obvious to them. Long may it continue. |
| News Comment | Ball to Discuss Book at Charity Event at 12:12:41
A friend of mine died from Sarcoma. It's cancer of the connective tissues, so ligaments and cartilage. I saw him shortly before he went into a hospice, and he was like a skeleton. He was only in his early 50s, but it took him very quickly. I'll be buying the book, that's for sure. |
| News Comment | Reading 2-2 Ipswich Town (1-3 on Penalties) - Match Report at 11:14:44
I'm surprised there's been no mention of the foul on Fridge for the second goal. He was taken down from behind blatantly, and the lad carried on and scored. Fridge complained to the ref so much after the goal that he was shown a yellow card before the restart. Hutchinson looks good, but there's very little end product so far. His decision making isn't very good, but presumably that will improve over time with coaching and experience. One little observation in support of Evans - at one point in the second half Slicker had the ball at his feet about 16yds out, looking for a pass; Evans was 20 yards in front of him and was beckoning him forwards, so that at least one Reading player would be drawn to the ball and out of position. Nice to see. His pass for Freddie's goal was absolutely perfect as well btw, giving Ladapo a one-touch finish. |
| News Comment | Woolfenden: I Enjoyed the Goal, Gaffer Says I Should Score More at 22:47:09
Phil, can I make a suggestion? The use of "admitted" is common in journalism, in ways that don't correlate with the actual meaning of the word. It means a response to an accusation; not to a suggestion, but to an accusation. I'd like to offer "reflected" as an alternative in this sort of context, just because I want TWTD to be even better than it already is. You probably don't get a lot of positive feedback, but as a long-time Suffolk exile (I live in Berkshire) I rely on TWTD totally, and have done for decades. I don't know what I'd do if you packed it in and took up macrame, or something. :-) |
| News Comment | McKenna: We Set a Good Tone For the Season at 11:15:59
Having subscribed to TownTV, I logged on yesterday expecting to watch the match - only to find that video was Not Available In Your Region!! Have I missed something, or has Berkshire declared independence or something? |
| News Comment | McKenna: First Half of Season Form Shouldn't Be Overlooked at 16:55:05
You have to admire the consistency of his tone in these interviews. Never too high, never too low. He clearly takes that approach in the dressing room before, during and after games as well, which must give the players huge quantities of self-belief. |
| News Comment | Holden: A Humbling Experience at 15:51:16
I love that comment about the effect that Hirst has on the opposition. It's clear we're a better team if he's playing. I just hope we can keep him, he could be vital next season. |
| News Comment | Minute's Applause in Tribute to Motson at MK at 17:14:41
I never liked him, to be honest. He never seemed like he really understood how football is played. Barry Davies was head and shoulders above him, in my opinion. |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Davis Signing at 09:22:08
He comes across well, seems like a well-adjusted guy. I think it's very positive that the manager was clearly determined to sign him, even though Leigh had already arrived. He clearly has plans for the team, and he obviously doesn't want to compromise. It's a shame for Penney but I suppose he's a player that wasn't signed by Kieran McKenna, so maybe he wasn't happy with what he had. |

Thanks John, that was good. Nice to hear from a true footie fan! |
| News Comment | Cook: A Little Bit Surprised By Amazing Support at 16:04:29
The great thing about away games is that more of the singers travel, then at the game they are all penned in close together and that's why the songs take hold so readily. Love it |
| News Comment | Beattie Statue Unveiling Close as Co-op Make Big Donation at 09:20:51
It's brilliant how collaborative this has been. It's the exact opposite of what Al Fayed did at Fulham, for example, imposing a statue on the club that no-one actually wanted. It looks like it will be an impressive piece of work, and a fitting tribute to a great man. |
| News Comment | Keane: I Got Recruitment Wrong at Town at 20:25:26
Regardless of the state of the team when he arrived, there is no doubt that it was much much worse by the time he left. The effects lasted a long time. |
| News Comment | Cook: We Would Still Expect Players to Come Through the Door at 11:55:22
I don't blame Cook for doing that at all. If he says something about someone's injury this week, he'll be unable to rebuff questions about it every time a microphone is stuck in his face for weeks. It's a waste of his time, and a waste of ours too. Realistically, all pre-match interviews are pretty formulaic because, as Cook says, you don't want to give anything anyway. He's making sure that the players don't come under any extra pressure too. All he wants them to do is focus, focus, focus on the game, the drills, the patterns. |
