Town Close to Signing Veteran Defender Keogh
at 14:17:24

Very good CB who the other players can learn from. Good option for the middle of the 3, Has presence and good with the ball.

At this stage there might be questions about his pace if playing a high line but no doubt the manager has his homework done.

Needham Market 0-7 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 12:18:06

Will never understand those who call themselves supporters who abuse their own players. What do they expect that will do for their team or the the confidence of the player. Any player can have a bad run of form. Anyone who had watched Will Keane knew there was a player in there. Likewise Piggott's record shows he has goals in him. If you want your team to do well, support them.

Huge potential. He could be a very important addition if he gets himself match fit and can avoid injury.

Town Confirm Cook Appointment
at 17:22:55

An excellent choice in my opinion. I dont for one minute believe McCarthy and Lambert were bad choices either.

A lot have commented that Paul Cook might be worried about the stewardship of the existing owner and neither he nor fans can be certain about what the next owners will bring.

However, I suspect just as big a concern for him or any manager in the current environment at this club, will be the fans and how long it will take for them to turn on him.

Will he be allowed a bad run? It appears nowadays the solution is always to change the manager. The history of this and the vast majority of successful clubs is managerial stability. The only thing that worries me is the short length of the contract.

Two Directions
at 18:55:24

Thanks to those who gave coherent responses, regardless of whether they agree or not. Football is about opinions, not enforcing our opinions by abuse and mob rule. Those incapable of a coherent debate should be ignored by the club.

A very famous historic figure once said "There is no grievance that is a fit object of redress by mob law". It is something we should all bear in mind. How would it feel to be on the receiving end? Anyone who wants respect should treat people with respect.

In the 70's we were capable of paying up to 50% of the record transfer fee at the time on Mariner, Muhren and others, so I agree the 70's are not comparable in terms of finances or what resources were at the disposal of club manager's in that era, but you cannot blame the club for how the PL is run nowadays.

As regards manager's blaming fans, I wasn't aware that Lambert did but accept you may be right. Sir Bobby once called the ITFC fans idiots, I dont think Lambert has gone that far. I wonder who is qualified for the manager role at ITFC if Robson, Burley, McCarthy, Lambert, etc aren't?

Taylor: Signings Will Give Us Positivity and Impetus Going Forward
at 18:39:12

The absence of Bishop when injured highlighted a lack of creativity and spark in the final third, so I welcome the new additions. Judge at this stage is probably more suited to a midfield position.

I expect there will be departures. Dobra could do with a loan to a League 2 side along with a couple of others, including Lankester and Gibbs. Jackson has attracted attention in the past. I would see him as a striker not very suited to a wide position, his crossing is ok but combination play and dribbling are not his strengths. Hopefully, he wont be sold in this window, because with his profile as a pacy striker, he would likely benefit most from playing with a number 10. With an injury free run, he is one that could come good as hopefully will Norwood.

Hopefully, we hold onto Dozzell and Downes. They are capable of playing at a higher level in future, but not ready yet. Woolfenden has gone backwards this season. For me, N'siala and McGuinness are the best combination, with Vincent-Young to challenge Chambers for the RB position.

Lambert Won't Compromise Beliefs
at 18:22:12

Lightning Boy - the fans opinion of Sir Bobby was that he was an idiot, we found out who the idiots were, and I very much doubt he said that;

I remember Brian Clough saying sometimes you need to go back to go forward, every coach knows that when one part of the pitch is crowded, there is space elsewhere and to retain the ball and find the space, sometimes you need to first go back before changing the point of the attack.

Maybe we have lost games because our available players were not good enough. Chambers form has dipped in alarming fashion. He was one of our best players early in the season, he made a schoolboy error for the first goal last week. He is playing like he has an agenda with the manager. If so he needs to quickly snap out of it and do his job.

Dozzell needs to develop a better defensive instinct if he is to have a future in the holding position, though no one can question his football ability. Downes looked eager and ready to make a big contribution as did Norwood.

Lambert: The Negativity Attached to the Club is Huge
at 18:59:02

"The clean sheet was the first in the league for both Cornell and McGuinness since they joined the Blues".

The above is a comment by TWTD, not the manager. Whatever about the manager, I think you should at least give some credit to young players.

It is an incredibly negative manner of describing a clean sheet and completely untrue. McGuinness started six league games, this was this third clean sheet. Both McGuinness and Cornell now have clean sheets in 50% of their league outings.

Whatever about your personal agendas, give proper credit when its due.

If fans and media got their way, Bobby Robson would have been hounded out of the club. Luckily the club had an owner with a brain.

Evans: We Need to Be a Footballing Team
at 18:17:13

It is very obvious from the comments above that after a fairly settled spell there is a mob forming searching for another scapegoat. It is ironic that the owner is criticised for seeking to implement a better style of play. That process started last season and was not the brainchild of the owner but the very people now frantically searching for someone else blame. If there was a potential owner interested in investing (which there si not), I expect they might wonder what thanks they would get for their millions further down the line.

As a result of the current "disastrous" run (5 league defeats out of 23), what was an inspirational manager a couple of months ago, might now need replacing in the eyes of many.

In the search for scapegoats (owner, MM, PL and the manager who follows him) there is one stakeholder who is ignored, the ITFC supporter. A genuine supporter does just that, while all will have opinions they wont publicly attack their own players or manager. In truth, the party most responsible for relegation last season was a large section of the supporters. They demanded that we win games in a certain style even though we were competing with more than half a division of clubs with multi-millions in parachute payments. Neither I the owner or any intelligent supporter would throw further millions at trying to financially compete with such clubs.

Dont employ a rotation policy in League 1? Are people crazy? Have any of you played the game, play saturday, wednesday, saturday? A keeper, CH and CM all in their twenties might, but most of the rest wont. Some may do so physically but they wont mentally.

My message to supporters is to stay with PL and his team. He is the best manager you will see at the club for the foreseeable future. He is a last throw of the dice, the alternative may be League 2 or worse.

Town Open Lambert Contract Talks Claim
at 15:44:44

Would be very wise to do so. As a player and manager has always come across as a good character. A talented and smart player who made the absolute maximum out of what he had. Those are more likely to be top managers than many of the supremely gifted who didnt have to think about the game.

Great powers of persuasion also in acquiring through the owner one of the deepest squads in the division.

Sunderland and Peterborough Linked With Wilson
at 15:29:52

Equally comfortable in a back 4 or 3, well worth a deal. I am happy I came to his defence on this site earlier in the year when it was first revealed he was being looked at.

I hope those who slated him for not being a regular at Lincoln, without ever seeing him play, have learned their lesson.

Keane Rejoins Town
at 18:59:41

The only thing ME might regret about this signing is not getting him on a longer deal, though I can see why he went with one year plus an option. Daryl Murphy was never deemed a prolific striker, if even a striker at all, when he joined and I think WK can do even better. He is easily PL class and I could see a contract extension on the table before long.

Hopefully we dont take any chances with his current fitness and get him fully up to speed before bringing him in.

I think all of the problem positions are filled, with a good balance of youth and experience apart possibly for the goalkeeper position, where hopefully both will learn fast as neither have much experience at a high level.

Town Set to Sign Wolves Keeper Norris
at 14:52:45

This player needed to drop divisions to get games, Bart needs to play at a higher level and we cannot afford his wages. This move makes sense. I expect Norris will probably play more league games than Holy, it may even be part of the loan agreement.

Former Lincoln Defender Wilson Training With Blues
at 19:12:38

There were people on this site over the past couple of years saying a drop to League 1 would be a good thing, rather than being a mid-table Championship Team, scrapping fiercely to stay there on meagre resources. Reading some of the above suggests it is only now reality is dawning on some, where did you think the Squad would be filled from?

Some of the comments above about a player you have never seen play and who is only on trial are completely uncalled for. He has apparently 231 league and cup appearances, only 37 of his league appearances were in League 2, the rest were in League 1 or the Championship. Lincoln may have had 2 very good centre-backs who worked well together and brought him in for cover. He agreed to terminate his contract.

I dont know what benefit there is in pouring vitriol on players playing for the club or those seeking to play for the club.

Lankester: Gaffer Has Made It Clear We're Out There to Win League
at 10:11:42

Definitely one who has the ability, belief and hunger to make it. Dozzell needs to show more of that drive. Obviously they are still learning, but for Lankester consistency, performing to a high level week in week out and chance conversion rate will be important this season.

To be real contenders for the title we are short in a few positions, the principal one being a player up front who can bring Lankester, Norwood, Judge etc into the game and score himself. Will Keane would have been the perfect answer, hopefully he won't be too expensive.

We also need two full-backs to compete with Emmanuel & Kenlock. For me, Nydam and Kenlock are better suited to wing-back. Donacien appears to prefer centre-back, maybe Crowe can be persuaded to stay.

I expect Nsiala to really step up. When it was obvious we were going down last year, players like him & Jackson could have been given more exposure, rather than play loanees who were never going to stay.

Harrison at Pompey and Closing in on Move
at 19:37:38

Would like to have kept both him & Keane to provide a focal point up front, one is not enough with games coming thick and fast. Really hope to see Keane signed, he may not be brilliant in the air for his size, but a quality player who will help others play better and would be perfect alongside Norwood & Judge, with hopefully Edwards/Jackson/Lancaster retained as pacy options.

I imagine a left full and goalkeeper will also be signed to replace the two leaving with probably a few more heading in the other direction also.

Hull Confirm Keane's Release
at 10:56:59

Would be a great signing in a key position. Could easily do what Murphy did in the play-off year, a player who was never replaced and Keane is potentially a better centre forward. There is no doubt there will be interest from Championship clubs, but Evans needs to gamble on this one, I think it will be well rewarded.

As the Championship gets stronger every year, it is filtering down to League 1, and if we dont get out of it next season, finances will continue to suffer, more players will leave and we could be set for a long stay.

Chambers to Be Honoured at End-of-Season Dinner
at 18:10:22

It is odd that a player not rated by so many on this site has over 600 league appearances, the vast majority of which were at championship level. I wonder at what level all of those who anonymously denigrate club players and managers have coached or managed. Given the wide experience of the coaches and managers who have clearly rated him, have you ever considered that it might instead be your football knowledge or experience that is deficient?

For me, being a club supporter means giving the benefit of the doubt to club servants and trusting those who run the club & team. There are many willing to attribute blame to owner, players and managers for the clubs present position. I have not seen many on this site accepting their share of the responsibility for what has happened this season.

Judge Signs New Town Deal
at 14:37:24

Great news. The one loan player that must be signed now is Keane. There is experience and potential at the back and in midfield.

Keane has the necessary quality up front and provides a target when necessary. With a pre-season and regular starts, he can make all the difference. Harrison and Jackson will be very good back up in League 1.
