Premier league dreaming/ nightmares
at 16:57 6 Mar 2024

A look at the bottom of the Premiership table is not good reading if you consider the promoted teams from last year and may possibly serve as a warning to all of us who crave the promise land.
It’s further heightened if you watched Sheffield Unimed’s attempt at competing against Arsenal the other evening!!!!
Considering Burnley absolutely destroyed this league last year and then spent £100 million plus in an attempt to establish themselves this season it is a little worrying to say the least.
Luton appear from the three of them to be the only team to have adapted to the rigours of the step up with a little more ease but are still struggling.
On paper, I would say Leicester, Leeds and Southampton have better premier league squads than the three teams who replaced them and are understandably desperate to return at the first time of asking.
We’re obviously looking to spoil that party.
SHOULD we make it, I have every confidence that KMcK and his team would prepare us to meet those challenges. COYBs

FA Cup
at 10:38 25 Feb 2024

Not wishing to open old and painful wounds BUT as bad as the result was with Maidstone (and it was bad) my contention is it wasn’t as bad as what some have made it to be in the context of the history of the FA Cup major upsets.
And here’s why!
The 5th round kicks off on Monday night with our still celebrating adversaries at Coventry and there then follows a week of matches.
I am of an age when the 5th round was a major footballing weekend with 3 o’clock KOs for all involved. You were almost at Wembley FFS!!!
Over the years, in my opinion, the competition has been devalued by the TV people and the FA themselves hence these midweek fixtures.
Most Premier league teams don’t start taking it seriously unless they’re still in it by the 6th round; ALL Premier leagues teams would not compromise their leagues status over FA Cup glory even with the attraction of European football the next season.
So yeah Maidstone was, still is and will be into the far distant future, tough but it was no Hereford Newcastle!
