Blues Out to End Winless Run and Sky Hoodoo Against Leaders Wycombe
at 13:31:07

Well, I’ve made it here all, of the sorry site of Adams Park with its pub entrance for the players doesn’t give some of our players the wake up call nothing will.

Saying that, a real great mix of both sets of fans, it’s grass roots football for sure and if the Town boys aren’t focused from the start then we could experience a similar situation as at Lincoln. Just waiting for the team bus to arrive and gathered with a selection of die hardened fans with young children trying to get the signatures of their favourite players. I do hope it’s not like Peterborough earlier in the season when only a handful (James Norwood of most note) who actually stops to talk to those fans.

Back drop of a hill covered in dark winter looking trees, it’s a little chilly and overcast and the steam rises from the various burger 🍔 stands that are at one end of the car park.

The scene then is set for you all guys, we need blood, sweat and tears from the starting 11 from the off. A team talk that focuses on keeping shape and tight at the back and creating ‘shots on target’ from the word go. Our support is outstanding again, a credit to this once great club, mixing well with the Wycombe fans and both telling each other how awful they were on Sunday. Let’s get behind the lads once more, 90 minutes of roaring them on and letting them know that we are here and after 3 points....

Blues Out to End Winless Run and Sky Hoodoo Against Leaders Wycombe
at 09:13:08

Well, I wake this morning after an alcoholic free NYE, in north Suffolk (just between Beccles and Halesworth), with the daunting five hour round trip to Wycombe to undertake today in the hope that I can see 11 selected players in a town shirt put in a performance to provide me with some hope?

For the first time in a very long time I can’t say that I am looking forward to it!

I will never slag my team off, pretend to know better than the assembled management team we have and slate those lads that are selected to play, but...... after several years of turmoil and below par teams who appear to be more focused on the pay than playing for the shirt, I had really started to hope that this season was going to be different. Great performances at the start and a real galvanisation of the club looked as if we were finally turning things around. But hey, that’s sadly not the Ipswich Town FC way this last decade or so, we are back to questioning why we spend so much of our hard earned cash to go season in and season out home and away!

Let’s hope that this drive is worth it, it’s certainly a long way whether I go via the A12 or A143/A11 to get to the dreaded M25 and M40. My car will as normal be flying the large rear window ITFC badge which gets much attention as you can imagine when up the road in that awful city we now don’t mention. So if any of you other fans see me today in my little blue VW Golf with the large rear window badge give me a song and a wave and something to feel proud about please. Our team might languish in its worse position for a few decades, but our fans are still something we can feel very proud of!

If it turns out to be a five hour road trip of hell then spare a thought for us! Oh and if any of the actual team or management ever do read these messages, please read it to your fellow players. This is the level of commitment so many of us show you week in and week out. We want to see desire and energy to fight for the club we all love. We want to see the will to get back behind the ball when we lose it and the same desire to push forward with energy and passion to get that extra 10% out of that run into the box to get on the end of a pass. We hope for all of you to think carefully when in a position to do so and hit the bloody target! We are playing a much smaller assembled team and indeed club today who are where they are through all of the above. Give us something to really shout about, get the fans off their seats and roaring again like at the start of the season. Three points lads and nothing else today please, otherwise it’s going to be a very long day again!

Come on you blues 😃😃😃

Town Open Lambert Contract Talks Claim
at 08:54:21

ITFCsince73 I doubt very much 500k paid for one player equals major investment my man. The fact is my inside club source stated that Evans has been trying to sell the club for the last 18 months and has lost interest. Let’s hope the continued good fortune makes him finally change his mind for all of our sakes...

Town Open Lambert Contract Talks Claim
at 11:13:56

Positive move and I’ll echo some of the already very well made points from other town fans on this post.

He has done tremendous in a very short period of time.

His previous loyalty is being questioned, but he took Norwich as far as he could by getting them into the top flight and Villa were a much larger club with longer term potential to remain in the top flight.

Giving him a long deal will make it expensive for other clubs to take him, therefore would need to be a top flight club for me and as he is currently plying his trade in League 1 that’s unlikely.

He deserves the deal based purely on giving us our club identity back.

Norwich fans up here in north Suffolk and south Norfolk insists he is nothing without his old defensive coach, well egg on their faces at the moment as he is currently tearing up the early League 1 season and I hope it continues.

We need to support him financially no doubt and give him more funds in January to cover any injuries we sustain between then and now especially to the back four.

We equally should not forget the rest of the backroom coaching staff in this return to form though, they are all doing a tremendous job, well done guys and keep going please.

Town Look to Return to Top as Doncaster Visit
at 14:30:37

Will be watching score updates from Washington DC today lads, first game I’ve missed this season but over here for work. This one has me more worried, I think Doncaster pound for pound are one of the best sides in this league and love playing us. Oh and to see the lad on the bench Kiwomya (oh god that just has the headlines written already)

Come on boys a promising start again please like against Shrewsbury don’t give them time to settle...

Town Down to Third
at 10:35:18

My dear late Dad used to say...

Don’t even look at the table son until you are 10 games in, once there the position you are in is likely to be roughly where you will end up come the end of the season. He was nearly always right, with the one exception being Crystal Palace the year Ian Dowie took them on an almighty run from January until the end of the season into the play offs where they eventually won and got promoted to the top flight.

Asfor playing Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday again, hasn’t that been the case through August anyway and we have one of the very best squads at this level to be able to handle that even come November I would suggest?

Lambert: I Don't See the Point of the Tournament
at 07:49:03

I’m a season ticket holder from just outside Beccles, committed to the club yes, but not stupid to drive the 84 mile round trip to watch no more than 4-5 of the usual starting line up play an under 23 side.

For me the club should be allowing season ticket holders entry for free for these games, most will spend at least a fiver once in the ground on refreshments etc. One to take note of please Mr Evans, the running costs of the ground and stewards will cost more than you are likely to get with a crowd of only 5k as the majority of these are likely to be children. We have come such a long way in a short period of time recovering this great club of ours, but we need to seriously think about these type of games!

Peterborough United 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 08:35:32

So my comments of the match for what they are worth you see,
From a fan not manager like we seem to have in posters 81 & 73

The fans were magic and down by the river pretty much filled the place,
Sat drinking by the boat and in the end to make the start had to make haste!

The gathering of 4,000 of a 10,000 crowd,
Thanks for your support all, we should feel proud!

The start was high tempo and not unlike last week,
Norwood hassling their back four for a goal, what a cheek.

We erupted with song and for a short while owned the game,
But for me went missing after 30 mins like last season the same.

Miles looked fragile and at times not at the race,
Peterborough playing through there with their lad with pace.

Woolfy looks promising and solid many crosses he retrives,
But to push over their cheat Toney was a little naive.

At half time we remained confident and no need for gangs for a bit,
But in Edwards we all know he wasn’t match fit.

Out for the second, well, did we really come out,
Like a boxer on the ropes for 10 minutes trying to save the bout!

Back to our shaker looking back four,
Peterborough unlocking is through the channels back door.

We could all see it coming, so why not the change of Edwards then,
No it’s the Town way to go behind and chasing again.

But a penalty when we had another run of passing and fiddle,
Surely eyes down James and a thump in the middle?

His shot (not unlike others so far in a Town shirt), tame and bleak,
Hit the bloody thing with passion, like you showed on Twitter this week!

Jackson like Forrest Gump that boy can run fast,
But ability to score and win matches, the doubt is cast.

In the end we are saved by the villain of seven days ago,
Who would score a 94th minute equaliser, we all surely know!

Fair play Chambers your effort and passion is there,
Just try to stay focused and prevent those defence nightmares.

Lambert was right in the post match assessment so don’t be sad,
A draw a fair result some good moments and some bad.

We go again on Tuesday with AFC Wimbledon the next test,
Games twice a week at this level now and no moment for rest.

We do need some strengthening if we are going to compete,
At times last week, the passing was together on the ground and quite neat.

We need Huws or Dozzell to look interested and one to step into the game,
Without that creative midfielder this season I fear the same.

Lots of huff and puff and a fan base to fear,
At fortress Portman Road let’s hope it’s our year.

Some posters on here a little silly and living in the past,
Discuss football yes, but bitching at each other, this week make it the last!

All this moaning about a few, if he had signed this time last year on £10k per week wages then by now he would have cost us a total of around £520,000 in wages anyway!

I say let’s trust Lambert and see what he can do with him. We have enough cover at CB now if JD is used there behind the others and now it’s all about getting a fresh face in up front, height and target man needed for me for Norwood or Jackson to feed off.

Lambert: Evans Should Tell the Fans What’s Going On
at 12:56:16

Ok, so here is my prediction.....

I’ve had it on very good authority from people within the club that ME has been wanting to sell and get out of ITFC now for in excess of two years. As such, he is not willing to put anymore money into the squad, wants to (where possible) strip the assets and get the relevant transfer fees into his pocket. Concurrently, he has been trying to get out of his commitment of ‘owning the clubs debt’ which he signed as part of the deal when he bought the club.

I hate to say it everyone, but we could well have a ‘Bolton’ situation brewing here!!!

Lambert: A Great Start for Us
at 20:20:38

Let’s not get carried away, but the feeling of winning the first game of the season on the first Saturday of the season and away from home feels really good. I didn’t go today, but the radio was pleasant listening and I’ll look forward to another season ticket season starting at home next week... we’ll done boys and PL a great start and I’ll enjoy a few beers in Beccles tonight that’s for sure.....

Trialist Wilson Set to Sign
at 18:10:29

All these England Managers on here writing off a player before he has even kicked a competitive ball. Those same England Managers who know more than PL from their armchairs than PL has seen from three weeks on the training g field and two friendly games where we didn’t concede a single goal.

Reality check, we are taking players from clubs that are in the same league as us now, eeerrrmmmm isn’t that the reality of where we are???

I wonder how many of you will be season ticket holders and have seen at least 100 games of the Town over the years?? FFS you mongs, get behind the team and stop being so negative!!!

Sears: Club Has Shown Faith in Me
at 08:41:20

So Pompey have followed up the signing of Harrison with a £2m purchase of John Marquis from Doncaster. I was hoping that we might consider going for him as a great striker at this level and my only fear is that there will be too much pressure on Norwood to score all of the goals. Time for some of the young guns to step up this season (especially in the midfield and hit the heights of 10 plus goals).
