FA Cup Replays Scrapped
at 16:46:32

A shame that replays have been done away with. Lessens the likelihood of a small team playing at a big stadium and vice versa. Absolutely the semi-finals should be moved away from Wembley - totally detracts from the final - there are plenty of large capacity stadiams out there including the Principality Stadium in Cardiff that hosted the final when Wembley was being rebuilt. A pity the EFL can't do away with the Play-offs that are totally unfair.

McKenna Named Championship Manager of the Season
at 11:16:25

Well deserved, and Wes Burns won goal of the season for the EFL, Leif Davis in Championship team if the season. Also Luke Chambers picked up an award for his more than 800 professional games and being Captain at every club he has played for before retiring. Just a shame the build up to Wes's goal (13 passes) wasn't shown.

Ipswich Town 1-1 Middlesbrough - Match Report
at 18:06:09

A chance missed but a point on the board when our promotion rivals got none. Not as satisfied with a point as I was against Watford but we could easily have lost that game today. Obvious to all I think that the players need a rest. I think the fans do too. The break will do everyone good. Come back refreshed for the final run in.

I agree - a point gained, not two lost. Before the game we were not in an automatic promotion spot. After the game we were.

Burgess: Still in Our Own Hands

A good point against Watford. In an automatic spot with four games remaining and in control of our own destiny. I can see Plymouth frustrating Leicester tonight but think we'll have to win against Middlesbrough or drop down to third as I can't see Leeds slipping up against Blackburn at Elland Road tomorrw.

Sorry to say I agree with him. I said when we failed to beat Norwich at Portman Road that there was a lack of urgency and too pedestrian at times.

McKenna: We Didn't Hit Our Usual Levels
at 16:59:09

This hurts but hope this clears a few up. In all Ipswich v Norwich derby matches (including friendlies, that actually don't exist against Norwich) we have 60 wins to Norwich's 58 - and the top three largest margins of victory are all 5-0 to Ipswich. I'm fortunate enough to have seen us win at Norwich and I know from experience the players would have got an amazing reception when taking the field on Wednesday against Watford - enter the conquering heroes and all that. Do feel our manager got it wrong today by not making changes earlier. It just simply wasn't happening for us. Still not sure he really understands what this fixture means.

Later Kick-Off at Hull Due to Sky Coverage
at 14:56:08

This must be some sort of record - the number of times Town have been on Sky this season. It is so tight at the top that small margins such as less recovery time before the away game at Coventry on the following Tuesday may be significant. What is the betting that by the Coventry game comes around that will also be televised live!

Coventry Date Set
at 18:25:56

Bert. I agree but atually think the Play-offs should be done away with altogether. Initially, they were only devised only as a means to reduce the top-flight from 24 to 20 teams. I knew, however, as did everyone, that the football authorities would make it permanent. I think you will be hard pressed to find a fan that actually agrees with them. Exiting - yes, keeps the season alive for more teams - yes, but fundamentally unfair. To turn a league scenario of 46 games into a cup competition at the end of the scheduled matches undermines the whole principle of having a league in the first place. Of course teams know the rules before the season starts but have no choice but to accept them or they are expelled from the league. Imagine if relegation was decided in the same way - the bottom two teams automatically relegated and the third, fourth, fifth and sixth from bottom play-off to find out who the third relgated team will be. In other words, the loser of the relegation play-off semi- finals play each other and the loser of the final goes down - a scenarion where the sixth from bottom could get relegated in place of the team that finished third from bottom. How ludicrous that would be! Not expecting the play-offs to be done away with however - there is far too much money involved for the football authorities to do that! As for the re-arranged Coventry match, it is what it is and realistically the only date it could have been re-scheduled for.

Bazza8564 - i agree. I have mentioned on this website previosuly that the Club maybe missing a trick here. The West Stand is only ten years more recent than the Cobbold Stand and showing its age - plenty of room at the rear to expand and remove restricted views, maybe some lift shafts at the back too. It could be done over a number of seasons to spread the cost. As for the Cobbold Stand propsoal - looks good but one of the issues that has been raised previously is that the stadium has its back to the town, but given the other structures due to be built will be more like invisible.
