Leicester Thrash Saints to Go Four Points Clear
at 14:35:10

One of the key issues with the recent run is we don't have quite the strength in depth to cope with intensive periods - we were running on empty against Watford and Middlesbrough (the same happened at Christmas too with QPR and Stoke obvs). Main thing is we have had a couple of weeks to give everyone a chance to recharge and hopefully the extra rest vs a Hull side that's played in midweek and then a Coventry side that's played eight times (to our five) since the international break including Sunday's devastating loss can help see us over the line to tee us up for a mammoth game at Portman Rd a week Saturday.

Best case scenario for Sat I reckon is Hull draw at Coventry tomorrow night to give them the faintest sniff of their play off chase continuing only for a last min Norwich or West Brom.goal to seal the end of their season a couple of hours before kick off...

Play-Off Date Switch

Blues1 - agree, you're probably right and I'm paranoid. But I wouldn't be surprised if the 2nd leg gets moved to Sat 18th 12.30pm if the worst happens.

Play-Off Date Switch
at 15:51:31

Reminds me of the time our lge cup semi-final against Birmingham had to be moved because of a Villa Premier League game. Leading to it being about the only semi-final in the past 4 or 5 decades not to be televised (cos couldn't displace Man U v Sunderland in the league on Sky could it?).

I also wonder if this is slight nervousness about a more realistic possibility of an East Anglian derby as the 4th v 5th game. They even had a special stipulation before the end of the season in 2015 to ensure Ipswich v Norwich had to be the 12.30 sunday game regardless of finish, rather than an exciting time under the lights ..

FA Cup Replays Scrapped
at 14:09:24

And once again - the rich get richer and the chances of, say, Maidstone this season getting a lucrative replay at an Old Trafford goes out the window so these megaliths don't have to play an extra game they'd put their youth team out in anyway.

The sooner the armchair fans and the money men just disappear off with their brands to their Euro Super League closed shop and let the rest of us get on with in-person football the better.

McKenna: Two-Week Gap a Positive

Given McKenna is so cautious you would presume that Burns and Hirst must indeed have a very good chance of a part to play in that final week. Massive bonus! Keeping fingers crossed...

Cleverley: To a Man, We Were Very, Very Good

A decent side and probably in a bit of a false position in the table with the quality they have. Plus a young manager who has certainly got them playing better. Not a terrible result.

Ipswich Town 0-0 Watford - Match Report
at 01:34:52

After initially cursing the Coventry postponement, it's now looking as tho it could be one final piece of luck as these boys could do with a rest to get to full fitness before one final push - and with no internationals.

Plus we will go into that week roughly knowing what we need to do as Leeds will be down to their final game before we start and we'll have a game on Leicester too. That could work for or against us depending on what the others do, but imagine if Leeds lose to Midds in the interim knowing they have a potentially still-hanging-in-there-by-a-thread Soton to play (who in beating Leics have also left them not entirely certain against a potentially relegate-able Blackburn?...

The permutations are endless. Whether we go up or not this is a season for the ages - something we've not had for 20 years. Thank you Kieran and everyone connected with this ever-remarkable football club.

Town Dismiss 400 Staff Tickets Claim
at 11:31:48

The atmosphere wasn't flat at the start and there was a spell of "Blue and White Army" early in the second half which was gathering momentum but ultimately not pushed on by the chances we desperately craved. But the nerves - as we're all SO desperate to get rid of this Norwich hoodoo - won out at the end. If it was any other opponent I've no doubt we'd have been all over it.

Agree with others here though - this is not a public row that is helpful at this time. And the reality is clubs always put aside tickets for players and other guests for EVERY game. The system is a lot fairer now for prioritising the hardcore fans than, say, last season's Cambridge debacle (altho I'd still say taking into account 2 or 3 seasons would have been fairer still). But even if these other 200 tickets had been available anyone under 25+ points still wouldn't have got a look in I'm afraid. However - remember they'll be forced to give us more for the playoffs semi (if the away support rules for those games still exist)!

McKenna Nominated For Manager of the Season
at 15:27:26

No contest - even if we don't go up. Good to see Rosenior being recognised. I think even tho we took them apart at PR, their style is one of the most attractive in the league and I don't think many would have expected them in and around the playoffs. Frankly if we did lose McKenna (which I don't think will happen until he takes up and sees where he can finish us) he might be a good fit to come back to us one day?

McKenna: Burns Injury Doesn't Look Like a Minor One

Gutting - for Wes and for us. But if Jackson can maintain the sort of form he showed on the right with his running that cross we have extra options as well as Sarmiento and Hutchinson.

Broadhead Could Make Trip to Cardiff
at 16:43:21

What a waste of spce Williams has been. One good run against two own goals and an arrogance on the pitch which none of the rest of the squad have. Thank goodness Evans found a club as if I was him I'd have been gutted of I was him to lose my place in the squad to some crap budgie who should have been ditched in the transfer window. Good riddance.

Ipswich Town 3-2 Bristol City - Match Report
at 02:04:51

Mathematically we have finished in the top half of the table. We have the same points we had the last time we made the playoffs. With ten games to go?! And only two points shy of Burnley's 'the best Championship team ever' had when they steamrollered the league last year.

What is the luck of this club to have two consecutive seasons where points totals that would normally see us walk a league should be not even enough to top it so far?!

Just amazing stuff though. Remember lads - you're not the ones under pressure. We're at least a season ahead of where we expect to be. Just keep doing your best liike tonight. But I imagine next season you could play a whole lot off this level and still get up even if the worst happens this year.

Plymouth Argyle 0-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report

Has anyone else noticed that Leicester's cup success means that their game at home to Soton has now been postponed and will need to be shoehorned into the already busy run-in period in April. Win the three games before the int.break and we're guaranteed to be at least level at the top whilst the Saints have to look forward to travelling all three of their rivals in the last month... Interesting days ahead!

McKenna: Rotherham Are Competitive Every Week
at 23:15:48

Anyone remember we had Rotherham under the lights when both clubs were in a similar position as now at a similar time in 2004 or 5? We won 4-3 - but it was far from a gimme and a brilliant game to boot. Hoping for more of the same.

Millwall 0-4 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 00:58:31

I never thought I'd live long enough for us to cruise to a win at the Den of all places!

What none of the media seem to have noticed is the punishing nature of the fixtures last nine games and how decently we've been playing. Really, bar QPR at home - when the squad was stretched to the limit and perhaps not finishing off a resilient ten man Stoke, what's been a particularly 'bad' result? Leeds away was always likely to be a loss and I'll wager we are very likely to be the only team who'll end unbeaten against them this season. Maidstone was a freak and the comeback at Preston had the feel of a winning performance bar some poor reffing. Maidstone was a freak where the performance was adequate enough.

On paper at least the fixture list til Easter now looks a lot lot nicer for us than either of the other two's. If we can get a run going now I genuinely believe this could be ours.

And let's not forget, the points totals this year are insane. We keep this squad together and we'd have a decent chance of winning the division next year if we just slightly beef up this squad - starting with signing up Moore permanently and sealing up that loan extension for Sarmiento.

Amazing days anyway.

Williams Remains at Town
at 09:34:00

@jaycee Nothing to do with 'sick' (although I doubt it is illness and more some off the field nonsense), but actually that he's looked like a big time Charlie who's deigned to do us a favour since he arrived, but actually isn't anywhere near as good as his ego thinks. Always looks like he's putting in half the effort of every other player. If Donacien was fit he should definitely have been packed off. Still he shouldn't get a look in if Clarke continues in his current form.

Good stuff. I quite liked what I saw of him last time. And for those still sniping at Mick. Another amazing spot from him - 25k from National League that he effectively set on the path to a Premier League and International career, like Mings. Let's hope McKenna is doing just the same for Al-Hamadi.
