A great performance from the Tractor Boys, Kieran and our wonderful supporters!

Ipswich Town v Cheltenham Town Your Report added at 15:40:34
We did most things the right way but were frustrated by the packed defence of Cheltenham.
Many say that our second shot that hit the woodwork crossed the line. At one time we had goal line technology at Portman Road. Did that get dismantled for League One play?

I thought that the referee was quite good and certainly spotted the time wasting. However that doesn't compensate for the interruption of momentum

Always a tough game there.

Some strange officiating did not help. Kieron still has work to do on the grass.

Well done to the traveling support!

A very good game from the Ipswich perspective. Defensively we were very sound, Bart controlled his area effectively and we challenged and closed down in all areas of the pitch. Parr was an excellent replacement for Mings and Chambers had a very good game. I liked the fact that with a few seconds remaining in the first half, he took a quick throw-in instead of running down the clock...this led to the brilliant build-up for Tabb's brave header. Skuse and Bish were an effective combo in mid-field and Tabby was a dynamo.and instrumental in both goals. Up front McGoldrick worked his magic and Murphy, while having a quieter game, did the business.
This was perhaps our best performance this season illustrating squad depth, teamwork and periods of brilliance along with a good hoof if necessary! We were obviously playing to win and Middlesbrough never really got into the game.
I think that the ref got the non-penalty and yellow McGoldrick card wrong. Rather than a dive, I think that the experienced McGoldrick anticpated what the defender would do and took full advantage of his lunge by turning that way...still a penalty.

Love your illustrative reports cbower and Mullett which certainly fill in the gaps from other available reports while entertaining the reader at the same time. Feels like I was at the game. Thanks!

Once again a big thank you to Mullet and cbower for these excellent reports. You both really make the effort to provide those extra details and nuances that enable us to enjoy the read and be so much more informed.
One aspect that caught my attention is the quote from Dave Jones:
“Ipswich’s intention was to get it forward and feed off the two big brutes up there and they did it well in the first half".
This was supported by cbowers' comment:
It was a display full of fight, big on effort and organisation and on the local Radio Sheffield "Praise or Grumble" phone-in we were even described by contributors as a big, physical side who at times had "bullied" Wednesday! Long gone would seem to be the "soft-centre" oft lamented by both Keane and Jewell - good riddance too!

We can thank MM and TC for getting our defence organised and injecting some steel into the side (perhaps appropriate for a Sheffield encounter!) Next season add some creativity and goal scoring and we'll not only be at the top end of the league but attendance at PR will increase as well.

Thanks cbower, When we play in the north end I look forward to reading reports from you (and mullett...were you there?) to really get a good sense of the details. It's appreciated.

Thanks cbower for your very comprehensive report. I always have a much better understanding about what happened when I read your reports.
Seems to me that while we made chances they were mainly only half chances rather than killer balls and it seems like we still lack that steel to win balls at both ends including nine corners with no end result. We also give the ball away too much and need a leader out there to gee the boys up...especially after conceding a goal.

I listened to the entire game which seemed to be most entertaining. Good performances from Taylor, Loach and Ainsley (who linked well with Taylor). Still wobbly at the back though which is a concern. Hopefully PJ has a loan in mind for CB with view to an eventual permanent signature.

Woohoo! First win v Watford in 8.5 years.
We're not perfect yet but we got a clean sheet and I like the way that we keep going right to the end. Full credit to our travelling support who certainly made themselves heard and to Scott Loach...must have been a lot of pressure on him. Another good game from Hyam. The subs were effective.
Bring on Blackpool.

I listened on Ipswich Player. This sounded like a good game and I was delighted to hear that rather than settle for a draw, we were seeking the winner right up to the final whistle. Also pleased to learn that Hyam delivered a top drawer performance today.
Mick Mills observed that JET lacked focus today and could have used some encouragement from the captain and other team members.
Overall a positive result against a strong recent Premier team
