We could be mathematically promoted by this time next week.

Leeds pick up just 1 point from Boro and QPR and we beat Hull. And Southampton fail to win at both Leicester & Stoke

Before we next play
at 10:37 17 Apr 2024

What’s the biggest match for us? The one where we will all know we’ve a real chance of seeing a result go our way.

I’d say Leeds away at Boro has a chance of being fruitful.

As a completely random note, we could do with QPR losing this week to Preston. If they lose, they’ll go in to that Friday night game the week after against Leeds knowing a win keeps them up. But that a loss puts them up sh*t creek. If they win this week, they'll be almost definitely safe and on the beach.

Win 2 of our last 3 games and we’re all but promoted
at 09:59 14 Apr 2024

Would take a very very unlikely set of results for us to get to 95 now and NOT go up.

Because even if Southampton win all 5 games left for them and get to 96 points, they’ll have beaten Leeds in that which means the latter can only get to 93. They’d have also beaten Leicester which would mean Leicester would need 7 points from WBA, Preston (a) and Blackburn. Which is tough.

If Southampton can beat Leeds and Leicester but drop a point somewhere else (any of the other three games), we’d be up 100% with 2 wins from here.

It feels like a bad result yesterday but in context, we’ve gained on Leeds and Leicester this week when they played two teams battling relegation. It’s a great weekend for us really.

Grand National 2024
at 04:31 13 Apr 2024

As many of you might remember, I’ve been excellent over the years with this race with multiple winners posted on TWTD. In the last few years alone I’ve had One For Arthur (tipped on here at 25/1 antepost) and Tiger Roll (5/1) win as well as place money for 6 others from 10 horses. Last years two tips Vanillier and Gaillard Du Mesnil were second and third at 20/1 and 10/1 respectively.

This year, I have backed two:
- Kitty’s Light antepost at 28/1
- Mr Incredible at 16/1

Both each way

Full prediction:
1) Mr Incredible
2) Kitty’s Light
3) Delta Work
4) Vanillier

Think we were noticeably poorer today..
at 15:24 6 Apr 2024

..because it was Morsys worst game for us.

When he plays bad, it’s noticeable for me as he’s our most important player. I don’t mean to particularly single him out as they were all dreadful but he’s too important to how we play to overcome it when he has a very rare off day. Same thing happened at Leeds away earlier in the season when he had an off game.

That was absolutely terrible. Awful performance, terrible result.

Very Ipswich to save our worst performance of the season (perhaps Leeds away asides) for such a big game, and against that lot.

Really disappointing.

Hadn’t done enough away in my name (done enough but not on my own account because of work and having to buy late often). Fancy us to win. Been to their place 4 or 5 times and never seen us win and never seen us beat them at PR either.

If I don’t hear through the TV ‘Top of the league, at Carrow Road for 90 minutes’ something has gone seriously wrong

Anyone else watching that C4 programme The Jury?

Spoiler alert….

^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^[^

Hugely concerning outcome for the fate of the UK justice system weren’t it? Two juries and two different results. If that’s how every jury is then it’s a bit of a worry.

Think it was mansalugher myself. That Ricky bloke in the green shirt is being slaughtered on Twitter but his ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ argument was spot on. There’s no way there was truly enough evidence that it was more than a loss of control.

Anyone fancy a couple of Cheltenham bets? 🐎
at 18:20 24 Feb 2024

With just 17 days until the best week of the year, I thought I’d throw TWTD 3 bets for some early interest.

Bet 1 - A ‘bankers’ multiple (Non Runner No Bet):

Supreme Novice Hurdle (Tuesday) - Ballyburn
Mares Hurdle (Tuesday) - Lossiemouth
Browns Advisory Novice Chase (Wednesday) - Fact To File
Champion Chase (Wednesday) - El Fabiolo
Triumph Hurdle (Friday) - Sir Gino
Gold Cup (Friday) - Galopin Des Champs
Mares Chase (Friday) - Dinoblue

Best NRNB odds - Ladbrokes & Coral

£0.20 Win Super Heinz (£24) and a £1 Win accumulator for a total stake of £25 returns £363.73 if all win.

Bet 2 - A ‘Rommy’s main fancies’ Heinz:

Supreme Novice (Tuesday) - Ballyburn
Baring Bingham Novice (Wednesday) - Ile Atlanqiue
Brown Advisory Novice (Wednesday) - Fact To File
Turners Novice (Thursday) - Gaelic Warrior
Triumph Hurdle (Friday) - Sir Gino
Hunter Chase (Friday) - Ferns Lock

Best NRNB odds - Ladbrokes & Coral

A 24p Win Heinz (£13.68) and a £1.32 Win accumulator for a total stake of £15 returns £3053.98 if they all win.

Bet 3 - Each Way Handicap Lucky 31:

Ultima Chase (Tuesday) - The Goffer
Coral Cup (Wednesday) - Doddiethegreat
Grand Annual (Wednesday) - Saint Roi
County Hurdle (Friday) - King of Kingsfield
Martin Pipe (Friday) - No Ordinary Joe

Best NRNB odds - Coral & Ladbrokes

A 23p Each Way Lucky 31 (£14.26) and a 37p E/W accumulator for a total stake of £15 pays £84,134.34 if they all win.

The 3 bets here come to £25, £15 and £15 for a total of £55. Of course, you can go bigger (like myself with the top bet today for £125 or smaller. The amounts I’ve put were purely to give you an idea on returns for each bet should the best happen and all win in each bet.

As always, please bet what you can afford. And don’t shoot the messenger. I just know over the last ten years, I’ve had plenty of people asking for horses on here and twitter in advance of the festival.

Can you imagine if we win the next three?

Not only would we have beaten the scum but we’d put daylight between us and Leeds, gone top on Boxing Day with a win against Leicester and be looking at a run of games after that on paper that we really should be winning.

Even the most pessimistic amongst you would surely BELIEVE!

Anyone been to Turkey?
at 18:43 29 Nov 2023

Thoughts?

Booked a 5 star gaf all inclusive for a week at the end of April in Akbuk for a grand. Seemed like an amazing deal. 6 bars, 6 restaurants, 4 pools etc. The area is called Akbuk.

Someone today though told me that there must be some kind of catch to get it that cheap. Is the area a rough part of Turkey or something?

Any help to put my mind at ease would be appreciated.

As it goes, I also realised today that the week spans across the last day of the season. So I will need us to be promoted before then. Albeit it’s for her birthday so I couldn’t change the week but just my luck it’ll be the day we finally make the premier league and I miss out.

Horse I fancy tomorrow 🐎
at 19:07 13 Oct 2023

2:40 Newmarket - Zenon at 33/1

Taken a flier on Zenon e/w at 28/1 (8 places) tomorrow in the Cesarewich. He is as big as 33s elsewhere but less places available. Ground looks abysmal which is exactly what he wants.

Half decent on the flat originally for John Gosden before moving to Mullins in 2019. Did little over hurdles for him in four runs (he couldn’t jump. Every race reads that he made mistakes throughout and was not fluent) before being sent back on the flat. Again didn’t do much twice on ground too quick until getting him to settle in blinkers at the Galway festival on soft when a close fourth to princess Zoe. He left until the last strides that day. He then went to Killarney and again had the blinkers on and won well.

After that, he’s been off the track for the best part of 3 years until reappearing a month ago at bellwestown. He was well beaten but that was obviously a pipe opener for something like this (no blinkers that day). He was going the right way before that long layoff.

I do think the key to him is the ground though without a doubt. His flat runs on gs or better reads 9 runs, 1 win, 1 place. But his record on soft or heavy before that run last month reads 3 runs, 2 wins, 1 place. Even his best of those aforementioned four hurdle runs was a second place on heavy at thurles.

Back on horrendous ground tomorrow, back in the blinkers and fitter for that reappearance a month ago, I think he’s a decent bet at 33s in most places but especially the 28s with 8 places available with sky. He could fall out the back of the screen but I do like him at that price on this ground. A big field flat handicap on heavy going won’t suit many in the field tomorrow but it’s perfect for him.
