Was it offside though? Looked like the defender on the far side kept him on. |

People often talk as if relegation is inevitable as soon as you go up to the PL. However, the number of teams who go straight down seems to have been relatively small in recent seasons. Teams like Brentford and Brighton have shown that a 'small' team can survive and thrive up there and I'd like to think we're closer to that sort of model than Sheffield United's. Either way, if we do achieve promotion, I can't imagine that my celebrations will be interrupted for a second by thoughts of VAR or how much Manchester City could batter us. It would just be fantastic to us back up there again. |

This is the type of decision that VAR is needed for, not for whether the ball might have grazed a player's arm or deciding on a subjective push. There have been and always will be wrong decisions from officials, they are only human. But ultimately will level out. |

Wasn't that good for us though? |

So Coventry losing is a good thing for us because they'll be disheartened against us. But wait, they'll be disheartened for Hull, which will mean that Hull will be more confident against us. Unless Coventry will be determined to get over this result or playing with freedom against us, so today is bad for us. Which means they'll beat Hull who then have no pressure against and that makes it harder for us. Or easier. After reading this thread and others I think the players are right to just focus on themselves, one game at a time! |

VAR was a Manchester United fan. You could just tell. Oh sorry, it wasn't Forest. |

Let's hope VAR aren't Man Utd fans... |

Something really nasty will happen. We need the refs and the officials, otherwise we have no game. And for the life of me, I can't see why anyone would want to be a ref these days. |

This persecution of refs and conspiracy theories about them is bad enough from fans and worse from managers and players, but to be coming from a club itself is embarrassing. Grow a pair, sort your problems out (including your finances which is why you've had points deducted, not because there is some plan from the PL to get them relegated) and get on with the game. |

Bolton 'only' have a 4 goal difference to make up and have scored far more goals, so for example a 2-0 loss for Derby and 2-0 win for Bolton. Seems unlikely as they've got Carlisle at home and Wanderers have to go to Peterborough. But imagine the tension if Carlisle get an early opener... |

He's right. Never understand why players pass to the keeper between the post because if they do then make a mistake then there's only one thing that's going to happen. |

My son's a keeper and its a tough watch! We worry about him making mistakes because its usually so costly. Although it doesn't seem to effect him which I guess is the attitude for a GK to have! |
| Forum Reply | Do we want a Sheff Weds win today? at 13:27 21 Apr 2024
I thought after results in recent weeks we'd basically ascertained that whether a team is down and out, have nothing to play for or need points doesn't actually seem to have any effect on how they play, at least in the way you'd 'expect'? Notwithstanding that, it's going to need lots of wins from teams around to have Huddersfield relegated by the time we play them. Although I notice they're due to play Birmingham at home next Saturday which I imagine will have a big say on what state they come to us in. [Post edited 21 Apr 13:47]

I think I've read an interview with him where he says he just really enjoys 'bantering' with opposition fans, which is fair enough I think, if he can take it in return. |
