Ipswich Town 6-0 Sheffield Wednesday - Match Report
at 17:35:25

Well, I wasn't expecting that! I thought Wednesday would make it really difficult for us today, so delighted to be wrong. Six goals and a rare home clean sheet, the perfect response to the poor performance last Saturday. So good to really thrash somebody at home at last. Well done KM and all the players - brilliant.

I hope we don't take our foot of the gas and try to cruise through the second half. Wednesday must go for it now, so we need to be ready for that and try to win the second half as well.

Three Changes For Blues Against Owls
at 15:06:55

We have no adequate deputy for Chaplin. Hutchinson is a really good player but he is a bit lightweight for the central role. Although Tuanzebe maybe a more solid defender I would choose Clarke for home games because he is more of a threat going forward. Broadhead should definitely start because Sarmiento is much more effective as an impact sub.

McKenna: Improving Wednesday Certainly Not One of the Lower Teams in the Division
at 20:08:29

As a glass half empty man, I am worried about tomorrow. Despite winning six in a row before our poor performance against Cardiff we have only been playing well in short bursts, mostly at the end of games when our super subs make hay against tired defenders. As KM says, there are no easy games in this division and small margins determine the result of most games. Because we concede so many goals are we fortunate to have won so many games by one goal? Have we been over achieving? Has the outstanding work rate of the players now caught up with them? Whilst nothing will be decided tomorrow our performance will be a good indication of whether or not we have what it takes to go the distance. Fingers crossed.

McKenna: We Reviewed the Whole Cardiff Performance
at 18:55:27

Having reviewed the game he must have concluded that, although we should have won the game, our overall performance was only 5 out of 10. Coming after six straight wins no need to be too critical, but to have any chance of automatic promotion we must be much better in all our remaining games.

An important lesson for the young players. A three nil lead at half time doesn't mean the game is over!

McKenna: We Didn’t Defend a Couple of Moments Well Enough
at 09:53:35

There are two reasons why we concede so many goals. Firstly because of our attacking principles. Both fullbacks go forward when we attack so we're vulnerable to counter attacks down both sides. Secondly because of frequent poor defending. We invite balls into the box by not closing down the crosser and by giving away silly free kicks. When the ball comes into the box we are often guilty of ball watching and mistiming clearances. Conversely, we also allow players to carry the ball
into our box without attempting a tackle.

Cardiff started well and finished very well but for most of the game they mediocre (as were we). It may be their best result though.

Cardiff City 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 15:11:27

We were nowhere near our best today and scored from one of our few moments of quality. Neither side really did enough to deserve three points but we threw them away because we had opportunities to clear the danger for both Cardiff goals but Burgess and Wolfie were in panic mode.

We have played okay but in the final third our first touch and final ball has mostly been poor. We must also avoid giving silly free kicks away near our box.

Plymouth Argyle 0-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 18:11:20

A great result on a difficult pitch against a team that always gives us problems. A few weeks ago we had slipped to fourth with Leicester out of sight at the top (12 points ahead?), Southampton five points ahead and unbeaten in 25 games and Leeds winning every week. I thought automatic promotion was no longer possible but the form table and the league table look much better now. Leicester only three points ahead, Leeds just behind us and Southampton five points adrift of us, so we're back in the mix. What a turnaround!

Trio Miss Out at Plymouth
at 14:39:55

Although Wes had just started playing really well again we shouldn't miss him too much because Hitchinson is also in great form. As he is joint top scorer we may miss Broadhead more but it's an opportunity for Sarmiento to impress as a starter. Travis also has the chance to show how good he is. My biggest concern is Tuanzebe at right back but hopefully he will show that last week's excellent performance wasn't a fluke.
As Whittaker is almost certain to score and Plymouth always play well against us I would be satisfied with a draw.

Woolfenden: It's Been a Big Step Up But We're Giving a Great Account of Ourselves
at 20:21:05

I want Wolfie to do well because he is "one of our own" but I can't agree with his assessment that he's having a good season. He has started nearly all the games (because of a lack of a suitable right footed
alternative?). He has had good games of course but there have also been quite a few poor performances. For me he's just too casual, so his game lacks urgency and he makes more than his fair share of mistakes.

Burns and Broadhead Miss Out at Plymouth But Chaplin Should Play a Part
at 19:38:50

Whilst it's not ideal that both Broadhead and Burns are out for a couple of games, Hutchinson and Sarmiento are arguably just as good. It's good that Chappers should be able to play some part on Saturday. Harness can obviously provide cover but I wonder if Keiran will give Taylor a chance to play in the number ten position that probably suits him better than an orthadox midfield role.

Premier League Clubs Eyeing Davis

Lief assists so many goals that he is virtually irreplaceable, so I would be gutted if he left. But, if he goes to Newcastle (the club he supports) I would understand his decision and wish him well.

A very good performance and well deserved win. I was expecting Al Hamadi to come off the bench to score but he wasn't needed thanks to Hutchinson (again) and Sarmiento.

Ipswich Town 1-1 Birmingham City - Half-Time

As we rarely play well in both halves, we may regret not taking more of our many chances in that first half. We should be at least 3 -1 ahead. I expect Birmingham to have more of the ball second half, so they are likely to score again. We will need to keep up our tempo and be much more clinical to win.

Ipswich Town 4-3 Rotherham United - Match Report
at 22:47:31

Hard to understand how we could throw away a two goal half time lead or how Rotherham could have more possession, attempts at goal and corners than us! Nevertheless we still snatched all three points at the end. Even though the referee was wrong to give the Rotherham penalty, we were still lucky to win because Rotherham also hit the post and had other chances. Our defending was comical at times yet again. Unfortunately, because of all the soft goals we give away, I don't fancy us to finish top two or to be promoted through
the playoffs.

Let's hope that Mogga's treatment is successful and that he's able to resume full duties soon. I'm sure that he can get Birmingham in the playoffs next season.
I see that the clueless owners at Sunderland, who unfairly sacked him, have now sacked Beale after just 12 games having given him a two and a half year contract. Madness!
