Tottenham v A.C.Milan
at 22:23 8 Mar 2023

The BT live match commentary tonight stressed that only Man.Utd. have beaten A.C.Milan in European competitions in England. Not so!
Sad that they forgot a wonderful night when ITFC beat A.C.Milan 2-1 at Portman Road in November 1962. Blackwood - a forgotten player nowadays - scored the winning goal I think.
Ah! Those were the days! I remember them well!

Don't panic! Assuming your Sax teacher can't find a copy of the accompaniment, your candidate can always play on his/her own, without a piano, if need be, for the actual exam.
I reply as as ABRSM examiner of 35+ years experience!! Good luck with the exam!

It has been a legal requirement in Sweden since at least the 50s that any moving vehicle must have its lights on.

Roy Bailey
at 13:57 4 Sep 2021

The '62 team's performances declined rapidly in the two seasons that followed. Most importantly, this process was exacerbated by other teams countering our (then) unique team formation and our tactics generally. As regards our defence, I do remember reading, one snowy Christmas time in the Green 'Un, sitting at home, how Bailey scored an own goal from a punch on the ball as he tried to steer it to safety from a cross. (We famously lost that game 10-1) However, in his heyday he was undoubtedly one of our best ever keepers.
Although I saw Roy Bailey many times I was too young to appreciate or appraise him properly, but he clearly seemed a commanding presence. There were many excellent saves that swirl as bygone ghosts though my earliest Portman Road recollections. I remember my father didn't take me to our final match against Aston Villa (2-0) when we clinched the League Championship because he thought the crowd would be too large and boisterous. I was 7 years old - so he had a point, alas.
Incidentally, in those far-off days, the players were allowed to take the trophy home with them for a day to show it to their friends and family. My grandmother (in Tuddenham Avenue) happened to live next to one of the players (I have forgotten who) and I was able to hold the lid aloft and boyishly cheer - but the trophy itself was far too heavy for me to lift.
But I digress. Roy Bailey was most certainly the equal of, if not better than, all our other goalkeepers. But true comparisons are impossible.

So Boris is paying the £39bn after all and this is “No Deal” in new clothin
at 00:30 19 Oct 2019

No. The article does not mention any forecasts. That's the point. It merely reports the facts of the deal.

I have absolutely no personal opinion on this. Perhaps, you just don't get this. (I know I sound like a lawyer - but it's important to differentiate between opinion and facts)

Never mind. There is a difference between voicing opinions (which you no doubt, justifiably, feel strongly about) and analysing, objectively, a statement.

I do respect your opinion, nonetheless. But, as you say, the inability to "critique" news sources in a balanced way nowadays is a problem that you have also demonstrated very well.

Sorry to sound so patronising. But I mean well. Believe me.

Anyway, my good wishes. We are, after all united in supporting our team with passion and a sense of belonging. Personally, I hate non-football posts........

I am merely quoting a report. I have no opinions in the matter. I merely point out your error of not fully understanding the article.

I'm merely quoting an article that summarises the proposed new deal. My own opinions do not come into it at all.

Regarding the actual article, you perhaps do not understand such a neutral report. It does not indicate anyone being poorer. It does not state any loss of rights for "the average citizen" - whatever that may mean. You are merely transferring your own opinions and prejudices to where such specifics do not exist.

"Due to certain clauses in Theresa May’s Withdrawal Agreement, the UK would have been legally bound to the EU’s ‘level playing field’ rules — such as minimum standards on environmental policy and employment law."

The above quotation is about May's proposed deal, not Johnson's.

The whole Spectator article's concluding paragraph sums up Johnson's deal neatly and precisely:

"Now that the backstop has been removed, it also appears that ECJ’s jurisdiction has been massively reduced. The ECJ will still have jurisdiction over EU citizen’s rights for a time-limited period, and over disputes that relate to an interpretation of EU law in the WA. Northern Ireland will also be subject to some ECJ jurisdiction as long as it remains aligned to the EU. But once we leave, the UK will be free to set its own laws, in its own parliament, with its own elected representatives voting on legislation."

Which other club are we most similar to?
at 15:17 8 Oct 2019

Also Burnley. Certainly in league and cup terms - and a similar sized town (not a city also!). However we do have a European tradition too....
the best conclusion is that we are superbly and wonderfully unique. Who needs comparisons??

That game vs Liverpool is etched in my memory. It was 14 at the time and standing near the front of Churchman's Stand. I distinctly remember that Stacey had to endure a considerable amount of abuse from the home crowd for being black. He was often booed by his own "fans" when he received the ball. My father and I found this rather shocking, even then.

I was there and it was one of the worst performances by "The Towen" I can remember. It felt such a waste of time and money going all the way to Wembley, especially after our famous FA Cup triumph the previous May.
