Lambert: Good Battle Between Keepers
at 17:40:22

I'd rather keep Bart. He may be our highest earner but if he regains his form - which he began to show glimpses of towards the end of last season - then he earns you 10-15 points throughout the season with his saves.

10-15 points is a massive difference - be it an automatic promotion spot or sneaking a play off position.

Smith: US Move Has Been a Great Experience
at 07:35:55

It's known at the club that Tommy went to the states to prolong his career. In his last 2/3 seasons he was scuppered with back problems. Moving to a league where he can play in a much warmer climate and less intensity is a decision he had to make.

Hurst: Lads Showed a Lot of Character

Based on that 2nd half, we need to line up for Bolton as:
Gerks
Donacien - Pembleton - Chambers - Knudsen
Skuse - Chalobah
Ward - Edwards
Jackson

Although I'd be happy to see Downes/Dozzell drop in for Chalobah. Be interesting to see where Huws will come in - maybe for Ward?

Hurst: Nothing New on Loans as Carter-Vickers Set to Join Swans
at 15:47:28

I'd really like us to go and get Tilt in on a loan with a view to buy in Jan. As much as Chambers is seen as a gods captain, it's clear his a below average CB in the championship. He can't pass, he's slow and gets caught ball watching time and time again. I don't think we need anyone else except from that. This was always going to be a transitional season. We'll have some great wins and we'll get battered too. Mid table and push on in a clear direction next term.

Ipswich Town 1-1 Aston Villa - Match Report
at 18:34:34

A player is not required to go off the pitch if it was a result of a challenge where the opposition player had been cautioned.

“Donacien got his name in referee Robinson's book for a foul on Grealish in the 49th minute, the England U21 international again making an awful lot of the challenge. The Villa physio was called on to administer treatment briefly but the referee allowed Grealish to remain on the field for the freekick, something noted by the Town support.“

Any idea how's his name is pronounced? Is it Jan-oi or Yan-oi. And his surname, is it Donna-chi-en? Donnach-ee-en?

Updated: Webster Set for Bristol City as Clubs Agree Fee
at 15:48:48

I'm disappointed but I'd assume ME probably left it in PH's court. As a new manager, PH will have a clear picture in his head of some of the players he'd like to bring into the club. I suspect this is a ‘1 step back to try and make two steps forward' kind of thing.

As the stadium in council owned would the club actually receive anything from this? Asides the revenue from food and drink.

Nash and Hogg to Assist Caretaker-Manager Klug, While Chambers Will Also Play Role

If I'm correct, I believe Chris Hogg is married to George Burley's Daughter. Not a bad father-in-law to go to for some career advice in coaching and managing a football club.

Bruce: McGoldrick Not a Villa Target
at 17:06:54

I would imagine McGoldrick would rather leave now while he's still fit! If he doesn't leave now then he'll be playing very tepidly and will not be up for it until the end of the season - he knows how injury prone he is. Last thing he wants to do is get injured and then have no club to pay or look after him. I'd just let him leave on a free now to free up wages.

McCarthy: New Signing Connolly Has Impressed Everybody
at 07:23:51

Interesting about Knudsen. As a LB you have to be defensive solid or really quick. He's neither. You can get away from that side of it if you offer a threat when going forward or can whip the ball into the box. Again, he's neither. Kenloxk is still fairly young but I don't have high hopes. I think LB is a bit of a weak spot for us.

Strong U23s Side Facing Palace
at 13:17:54

As much as a nice guy Tommy is, I always thought he was shakey and contributed to so many defensive errors playing on his wrong side as a back four. Yet I'm really looking forward to seeing him at the heart of our new 532/352 formation. I think it's inevitable that Berra will move on so a back 3 of either: Smith/Webster/Chambers, Knudsen/Smith/Webster/Smith or Smith/Taylor/Webster looks pretty good. Webster calm approach may help Tommy settle and force him to play the ball rather than hoof it 9 times out of 10.

Berra Linked With Return to Hearts in Swap Deal With Injured Paterson
at 09:49:12

If it's a straight swap deal, his wages would be no more than £6-8,000 a week. Come the time he's got we'd have paid out approx £200,000 in wages. For a player who was valued at £5m not so long ago.
