I've been to 30 Scottish grounds and Montrose was the only one where I got abuse for being English!

If we go up we surely want Leicester to go up with us as they will start next season with a sizeable points deduction and a possible transfer embargo. Then either WBA or Nodge who would surely be weaker than Leeds or Saints.

Such a strange feeling
at 11:40 14 Apr 2024

OK we have only taken two points from two home games, Leeds have taken only one from two seemingly easier home games and Leicester nothing from two games that they might have been expected to take points from. Do you not think they might be looking at having "let a huge opportunity slip through our fingers". We are in a better position than we were two games ago, with only three games to go. We have a two week break to get everyone fit and rested, Hull and Coventry could easily have nothing to play for. For Coventry it will be their 4th match in 10 days including a Wembley semi-final, so they are likely to be knackered. So why all the pessimism? Which of Leeds or Leicester would you swap places with? Oh and we've won 4 of our last 6 away games, losing 1-0 to the best home form team in the division and being on the end of a freak result at Cardiff - very unconvincing. This season has been unbelievable, even if we don't win another game, yet some so-called fans still find reasons to be negative - now that is a strange situation.

Boro won't need any extra incentive to beat Leeds, like everyone else they hate them.

I see Sargent went off injured for Norwich
at 22:52 9 Apr 2024

We really want Norwich to keep winning so that Hull and Coventry potentially have little to play for by the time we meet them. I don't care if they make the play-offs if that helps us to get automatics. Given that, I hope Sargent is fully recovered by their next match.

or the fact that we've won 7 out of our last 8 league matches against Man City? They haven't beaten us in the league for 25 years - T-shirt anyone?

We CANT DEFEND!!!
at 22:13 9 Mar 2024

All of this focusing on Woolfenden kind of misses the point about today. We dominated possession before we scored yet after that, when game management should dictate that we continue to do that, instead we sat ever deeper, conceded possession and tried to defend balls into the box rather than dealing with the source and continuing to control the game. That is not Woolfenden's fault, that is a whole team issue. The opposition can't score when you are in possession of the ball and we surrendered that far too easily in the latter stages. Blaming Woolfenden is just scapegoating and displays a rather limited understanding of the game.

Away End - Loads of seats available
at 09:34 7 Jan 2024

Exactly this. I was one row from the back and it was heaving, loads more people than seats. Most people don't want to sit at the front so unless stewarding is rigorous this will happen. Also ticketing policy means people have to buy tickets separately and then naturally want to sit/stand together so they will move. Same most away games.

Thank you for your analysis and insight - and there was me thinking that McKenna fella knows exactly what we need. Silly me!

Don't think it will make much difference. Leeds fans have been quite critical of him and Darlow is at least as good.

Leeds roll call…
at 20:59 22 Dec 2023

Leeds will be only the third away match I've missed this season. I have the points to have got a ticket and I live in Greater Manchester so it's less than 40 miles away, but I decided that I could not condone or be complicit in this blatant rip-off. I don't see the point of moaning about ticket prices and then buying one anyway.

LEEDS

Very good point about Leicester. They will lose Ndidi, Iheanacho, Fatawu, Daka and Souttar to the African and Asian Cups in January. I can see them stuttering.

So the next 10 games! What do we need? What do we expect?
at 21:48 12 Nov 2023

Firstly I think we might need more than 90 points this year for top two. Secondly they won't all come where we expect them otherwise we'd all be bankrupting the bookies. So we'll win some we might not expect to, like Sunderland and Southampton away and we'll drop points we don't expect to like Birmingham and Rotherham. We are in the driving seat and others will drop points too. I'd take 20 points from those 10 games in an instant, especially if we can avoid defeat to Leeds.

A question for the older supporters....
at 21:35 12 Nov 2023

This was a straight steal from Manchester United, substituting River Orwell for River Irwell - why do think it references Liverpool and Man City? They still sing it today. Rather we used our own songs.

Apparently we won the league last night
at 17:50 4 Oct 2023

Absolutely. There was a ranting southern Man Utd fan on Talksport recently. The gist of what he was saying amounted to " I've been glory hunting for 10 years but I've not had any glory - it's not fair". I hate these armchair Prem fans, and we all know plenty of them, that laugh at real football fans, that actually go and support real teams.

Saw a great picture on Facebook recently of a young boy watching a lower league match with the caption "Don't let your children grow up thinking that football is a television programme". Spot on.

McKenna to Rangers
at 21:24 1 Oct 2023

My last sentence is the key to what I was saying. Doing well in a two horse race is perhaps easier than getting Ipswich promoted and established in the prem. Some might view it as a short cut. However, McKenna's a very smart guy. Just as he has a plan for Ipswich, he will also have a plan for his own career. So early in his career I think he will stay with us, where he has backing, can learn and make mistakes (as he inevitably will) knowing that he has stability of tenure and can continue to build his stock. A wrong move at this stage could set him right back in terms of his standing and reputation. He's undoubtedly ambitious but he'll also be 'trusting the process'.

Rodgers, Gerrard and Postecoglou all got top jobs in the Prem as a result of doing well in Scotland. In many ways it's an easy stepping stone.
