(I've also used gorilla-pod mounted cams, but they tend to wobble a lot more, even with extra image-stabilisation - with body-mounting in some form, you act as a bit of an image-stabiliser :-) ).

You can't record the accident / incident on a phone safely, only the aftermath.

With my head-mounted Mobius, it's right on top of my head (I don't often put it there, anyway), and the Mobius weighs 27g or something. The mount it's on is detachable anyway (would detach in an accident, unless perhaps I landed directly on top of my head, in which case I'd have a broken neck with or without a detachable action cam).

I'd be more wary of putting it on the side of my helmet, as an impact accident to the temple is more likely.

But I ordinarily mount it on the handlebars or rear-facing, and not infrequently carry it in my hand as it's so small and doesn't interfere in any way with using a bike. (You can get a glove-mounting, too, for it).

It's TINY !

Mobius don't have a screen or anything like that, but if, like me, you just use it for watching back afterwards, then you don't need one. And they are tiny, as I mentioned.

I've had a couple of "incidents" recorded on them, but I mainly enjoy playing them back to remember sunny cycle rides.

I was carrying one once when out for a run, and got clipped by a car ("I can just squeeze between this horse and rider and that runner") - unfortunately, it was off, not on (I managed to turn it on to catch the disappearing car).

I've got a couple of Mobius cameras - only off fleabay, unfortunately
(though there are some resellers to be found in some countries:
https://www.mobius-actioncam.com/).

Under £60, and as good as cameras costing 3x as much.
Tiny. I leave mine there and forget about it.
The battery outlasts my memory card on max. video setting - good for over two hours, anyway. Sorry, don't know about getting 6-7 hours.
There are forums for model plane flyers who use Mobius and they want longer - you can get larger batteries and a cable to connect into the cam, but I would think the robustness on a bike would be adversely-affected.

Or as a car webcam, you get a capacitor instead, and the car battery runs it. For as long as your memory card lasts.

From eletoponline:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/eletoponline365/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

They aren't waterproof, but reasonably robust.
I've got a couple, but only ever used one at a time - one on top of helmet, one rear-facing, one front-facing mount.

Good quality video, especially the Maxi latest incarnation.
Photos (timelapse) are a bit mediocre.
Fully-programmable, too, so you can tweak what your get out of the camera:
http://www.mytempfiles.info/mobius/index.html
(maybe download the software to see what you can change).

The main problem I've had is overheating (one died),
and software updates (a second was bricked because the update was interrupted - will get it returned, though).
DON'T INTERRUPT UPDATES !

And I wouldn't personally recommend leaving one in a car - okay while driving, but take it out with you rather than leave it in the sun.

Watch out for copies on fleabay - there are some cheap knock-offs that don't work for long (got tricked by one of those a few years ago).

At what age do people learn about drinking in moderation?
at 14:55 4 May 2020

It has got worse and worse for me - best thing these days is not to start at all of an evening. I've lost my "STOP" button, which was always a bit faulty, and hangovers can last three days rather than 18 hours. I'm on a dry month again this month, and I find that helps moderate my intake for the year. Three dry months a year.

It's dirty - rack it backwards and forwards lots of times to see if that helps. But you've prolly already tried that if you've had the back off.

How about forgetting about vinyl and amps and speakers and turntables and going digital instead ?

Most music is available on the interwebs and the quality will be as good as your old Bush sound, no ?

My suggestion - spend the money on a decent headset for your computer, and maybe powered computer speakers for when you want to fill the room with sound (or get wireless headset and walk around with the sound).

Of course, some or all of your vinyl might be difficult to find online in decent-enough quality - but I'll hazard that it isn't, and new stuff is available at the click of a button :-)

What's good on Netflix or Prime right now? Series or a one off film, not fussed
at 14:07 25 Mar 2020

Watched "Spotless" again last week on Netflix.

Enjoying lots of things on T4 from "Walter Presents",
the current favourite being "Professor T" from Belgium.
Enjoyed "Dicte" from Denmark (?) previously.

All crime-y dramas.

Might watch "The Expanse" (Netflix SciFi) again as I enjoyed that a couple of years ago now that this thread has reminded me of it, ta !

I cycled 3000km across Europe in 7 weeks. Hard saddle was the way to go for me (though I did have a gel cover that I used occasionally for a few days, and adjusted the seat height accordingly). A VERY hard saddle worked best, for me, I found.

I also use a women's saddle extensively on one of my bikes these days, and that is good at "spreading the load". (I'm male, by the way).

Rucksack affects your back and balance.

If you're lazy, like me, you use a rucksack if the panniers aren't on permanently. But you're better off with a lower centre of gravity, and carrying my week's pizzas and beer in a rucksack gives me backache and affects mobility when looking over my shoulder to see how far back Mr Clarkson is if I'm turning right. (I've only one rear-view mirror on all those bikes 'cos they keep getting broken).

It's easier to carry and pack a rucksack in the supermarket, though ... and easier to get through tight gaps on towpaths without panniers.

Living and working in Europe after Brexit
at 17:27 21 Mar 2020

It'll hopefully be extended, as I'm stuck in the UK but want residency elsewhere, and can't get out there to pursue things with COVID-19.

BUT each country has its own criteria for entry / residency after Brexit.
So, it depends where you want to live, what you want to do, and / or how much money you have.

Leaving for Europe before the year end would probably be the easiest, though, yes.

None taken, Mr Clarkson :-P

Another bit of advice - spend more on your back tyre: get as "pucture-proof" a tyre as you can, 'cos changing the back wheel's a lot more of a hassle than changing the front. And if your back brake is dodgy, FIX IT ! Don't rely on your front brake else you'll catch something from kissing pavements.

Use panniers rather than rucksacks, too.

And make sure your seat is the correct height so, for example, your knees aren't less than 90' at the top of the "stroke", and you're not bearing down unnecessarily on your handlebar.

My oldest is a Peugeot 5-gear road bike from the late seventies which I bought for £20 in 1982. Purple.

I've also a £10 "Saxon" cheapo roadbike which is grey. Heavy as hell.

I use a hybrid mostly, which was £60 from a charity shop. It's dark red. Got panniers.

I've a skip-rescued mountain bike with very low gearing and thick tyres. A "Jumelle" or something. Bright Purple. Use that for hills and Naked Bike Rides.

My Raleigh steel-framed tourer was run over by a taxi with me still on it, and will maybe be one day fixed. That took me across Europe from the Adriatic to the Baltic in seven weeks in 2004. 500 km in 3 days was the most I did in terms of distance / day - I didn't take to Warsaw, so kept going.

There's a blue folding shopper that I'm fixing up. Came with a nice bell for £10.

And there's a light blue hybrid cheapo thing in the shed.

Keep your tyres pumped up as hard as you can manage, and keep your eye on the route - I rarely get punctures, but thorns from Hawthorn on towpaths are indeed the most common cause of my punctures. Or dodgy valves on the inner tubes.

Then we moved to Suffolk :-D
I became a blue-convert to my Dad's delight,
only it wasn't Sky Blue.

Moved from Suffolk age 11. Still ITFC Blue.
