Nigel Fromage et al....

Listening to a journalist from the Guardian On the R4 PM prog, she seemed to suggest that (as milkshake was harmless) it was OK to throw harmless items at politicians as it has been done for many years in the past. As the journo is a supporter of JC (or so I believe) does this mean that it's OK to make him the 'Milky Bar Kid' over the next few days. I really, really hope that this was NOT she was suggesting.

Who / What's Important for the coming season.....
at 12:59 29 Apr 2019

These are my own thoughts but if you want to 'down arrow' that's fine with me.....Over the last few weeks contributors to this forum have stressed the importance of ME and PL to the coming season. Please allow me to disagree with that. My thought are that the most important people are Lee O'Neill and Brian Klug. For several years we have been short of someone 'at the top' who can talk and deal with the footballing side of the business. The gentlemen Milne & Clegg may have been wonderful in their own respective worlds. I do not want ME dealing with player's transfers in or out of the club. That is where Lee O'Neill is so important. We must develop and RETAIN the young players that are the future of ITFC. Youngsters being developed by ITFC then disappearing to the big premier clubs is no good to us (or them). Playing for the big club's junior sides is no guarantee of future success (anyone remember Reece Wabara ??) This is the importance of Brian Klug plus the teams looking after the U23,U20 & U18 sides keeping the youngsters 'feet on the ground'.......Then I come to the Chambers / Skuse spot. My thoughts are that both of those players are important for the coming season. Skuse showed on Sat night that as a player he still has much to offer. For me, Chambers is there for his ability to lead and again provide the help for the youngsters in the first team. However Sat night's display may have many arguing with that. Being the owner and manager of the team IS important but to my way of thinking others are ahead of them for the coming year....Old Person's Rant Over.

Hal Blaine RIP
at 08:32 12 Mar 2019

US News sources are reporting the death of Hal Blaine. I hear many of you good folk saying...'Sorry, but who he ??'. The answer is possibly the greatest popular music drummer the world has ever heard. There is a very strong possibility that every piece of music that you have tapped your feet to from the late 1950's to the mid 1980's then Hal Blaine was the drummer. Pet Sounds, Ike & Tina Turner hits. The Monkees and Simon and Garfunkel he was there (and you can add in Frank Sinatra as well),

I Don't Know If This Helps....But
at 15:00 4 Jan 2019

On Saturday 22nd Dec my 8 yr old grandson was one of the official club mascots at the Sheff Un game. The family (with small boy in tow) waited in the reception area for the days proceedings to start. Slowly the players arrived in reception and my grandson was greeted with fist-pumps, smiles and hugs from every single player that he encountered (and this DOES include Trevoh Chalobah). Photo's were not a problem The end result was one small boy totally in a fabulous world of his own with players he had seen on a pitch talking to him and treating him with respect. Regardless of player performances, results or league positions one small boy (and the family) left Portman Road on that Saturday night with the most wonderful memories that will last a life-time. Awaits the arrival of 'Down Arrows'....
at 09:57 2 Jan 2019

At this moment I'm not sure if I want to see the arrival of a number of loan players or whether I'd rather see a good 'Sports Psychologist' and a couple of 'senior professionals' turn up. Football is a game of confidence and that is hugely lacking in the team performances (we get to half-time having played well but know the second half is going to be a disaster). The senior professionals could help with the dressing-room morale. Football is a game of cycles. Some of the readers of this may remember the 63/64 season (that's the one with Boxing Day 10-1 at Fulham and the 9-1 at Stoke) never mind the 9-0 at Man U that came later. It will get better but 'Don't know where, Don't know when' (cue for a Dame Vera Lynn song...Who I hear many cry). I have faith in PL and the senior players on the staff. We may well be doomed this season but we can and will rise again.....Old Person's Rant Over.
