Problem is that say a million people who see themselves as young and healthy decide that this is a good idea. If just 1% of them get more severe symptoms and requite hospital treatment that's 10,000 bed spaces required at a time where we're approaching the peak of the outbreak.

Would anyone care if the EFL season was void, question for the town supporters.

Why? That's rather a false deadline and it's unrealistic to think fans will be in grounds that soon.

I don't think anyone is saying football should be played right now, but when it is safe to play again this season should be concluded.

No, the season needs to be concluded so we can bin Lambert off.

Hannan is just awful and quite staggeringly sh!t-witted. He'd be amongst the first against the wall when the revolution comes.

He's always come across as being a mediocre blusterer to me. I think he's too 'old guard' as well and they need a bit of a purge.

This was how you opened, which sets a rather different tone:

"Bored of people telling us via their perfect social media portrayal of life to use this time to learn a language, practice yoga or hone their professional skills."

That's how it comes across initially. There are many good points in there too, but not everyone suggesting doing yoga or learning a language is trying to portray a perfect social media life. I'm not sure how helpful that kind of talk is.

Yes, a shorter season. I've been pretty clear about that. I've been pretty clear about potential time frames as well and even taking account of possible further lockdowns later in the year.

So after a shorter season they'll be less knackered. I'm not sure what the problem is.

For some people doing stuff like yoga or learning a language will be how they cope with the current social isolation. I'm not sure it's a great idea to have a pop at other people's coping mechanisms because they differ from your own. Everyone needs to find their own way to deal with this.

There's plenty of possible ways to do it. I think the most likely as I outlined earlier would end up being more or less a half season. It's not ideal, but at least everyone knows what they're dealing with in advance. Given the lockdown is likely to be until June time I don't think the current season is likely to be finished much before August/September. By that time it's possible we'll be looking at another 2-3 months of tighter social distancing restrictions anyway, so next season realistically might not start until December. That gives enough time for half a season and a bit of a break before the Euros.

I see that argument and yes a couple of weeks training would be needed to get players up to speed following a break. That said, everyone in the country is waiting to know what will be happening and footballers are in a position of privilege in many, many ways. I'm not sure putting their minds at rest is a big reason to just cancel the current season.

You just have a shorter season next season and move preseason and the transfer windows accordingly. I don't think it's a big problem really.

There's not really any stress currently is there? Football will return at some point, when it returns why not finish the current season?

Possibly, so in essence you kind of end up with a long season stretched over two years I guess. It's an option.

For me, I think finish this season whenever possible and then reduce next season accordingly, might need to be a 24 game season in League 1 where you play every side once either home or away and then a second game against one side (the one you're most closely matched to based on previous finishing position) so that each side has played an equal number of home and away games.

Our season has been over for a while to be fair so it makes no odds for us, but for the integrity of the completion it's not right to just end it three quarters of the way in and hand out the prizes based on where people are now. Either finish it (preferable IMO) or end it now and pretend it never happened. I don't see anything else being a feasible option.
