Scored a hat trick for Clifford Road against Broke Hall. Downhill from there.
Formed Heathlands United and played Lisenced Trade for a few years. Just a mates team from the pub.
We did get to play at Portman Road against Fisons. One of our team was dating the PR manager from Fisons. They were Town sponsor at the time. Amazing day that was. Kevin Beattie was guest of honour. I was a slow ball playing centre back. In the reception after the game in the Centre Spot I asked the Beat if I reminded him of himself. He said I did. Then said because your half cut. Legend.
It's been said that we win games late on because of the fitness of our players and them being physically fitter than other teams. You would have thought that being fit was a given for a professional sportsman.
My question is what are we doing different to other teams or not doing that gives us this advantage? Or is it nonsense.
Don't suppose anyone really knows but what would be a likely cost to either knock down and rebuild the Cobbold Stand or develop it similar to Liverpool by building another tear on it. even if that option is viable in the first place?
Sunderland's Stadium apparently cost £16M to build. that sounds ridiculously cheap.
From reduplication of the abbreviation PO (“police officer”), originally in reference to partnered bike officers in Southern California whose paired shirts would read POPO.
It’s pathetic from those people who basically bullied a fellow Town fan. He’s doing something people enjoy watching. Gives a flavour of the atmosphere for people who can’t go and no harm ever to anyone. Few pints of shandy and a Stone Thailand makes turns people into idiots. Keep doing your thing Alex.
That was Fergal Sharkey. There was a go fund set up to pay for his moped. Turned out it was nonsense. The fund was generously given to me for a project in Moldova to provide schools with decent bathrooms. Was a great story though.
I was at 9 of those I reckon. Only one was the 72/73 game as I may have started going the season after. I remember the Leeds game. I was on a beer crate in Churchmans. You could not move an inch.
