Green’Un With Envy
at 10:17:11

I loved the Green'Un. I used to sit by the front door waiting for it to drop in at around 7 on a Saturday evening. I loved pouring through the results, the goal scorers, the league tables and attendances. You can't find that easily these days.

Not sure I agree with your comment on the local journos. I think with TWTD, Ipswich Star and Radio Suffolk we actually have really good coverage of our beloved team. Great article though.

Town Topic: Wembley 78 Memories
at 10:37:37

Queued up at 4am with my vouchers at the age of 11 to get my tickets with my dad, I had the morning off school and got called into the headteachers office to explain my absence. When I told him It was tickets for the Cup final he just said "Good lad, off you go".
We went down in a camper van which blew its head gasket near Chelmsford. we had to hire a car and parked at a church near Wembley who gave lunch to all the Town fans. the rest of it is a haze. But what a day.

Thanks SuperFrans. A very good read. Keane is a very interesting character. I think he is slightly bonkers but good value for the entertainment he gives.

Town Confirm PDC Replacement Plans
at 12:12:32

It costs £90 a term to join the PDC. So now that money will go to ITFC and not the Charitable trust. Money making scheme disguised as a player development opportunity if you ask me. The standard needed to join the PDC was not that high. It used to be when it was the Advanced training programme when they actually turned people away who they felt were not up to the grade. these days they take more or less anyone who will cough up the money.

The Ex-Files: Shane Supple
at 12:38:15

I think it's really interesting that he said he didn't like the people involved in football. From a very early age these young men are superstars at there age group and where they come from. It must be hard to keep your feet on the ground and not become arrogant. Everything is done for them and its a bit of a bubble. They are often praised to the hilt and maybe believe the hype. Bit of a generalisation I suppose but may be a factor in the type of personality of the professional player.

Who Should My Son Support?
at 11:09:51

Frank Skinner said there are only two factors that decide who you support. the first is who your Dad supports. The second is to get a ruler and find the closet professional team to where you live. Luckily for me it was Ipswich on both counts. Same goes for my boy. he is 14 now and a season ticket holder and supporter of ITFC. It was easy for me. My childhood football started in 1973 just as the Town became good for the next 9 or ten years under Sir Bobby. So it wasn't hard to follow the Town.

He does now have to watch the rubbish served up week in week out at Portman Road but he is town through and through. Nights like when we beat Arsenal 1-0 in the League Cup semi will live long in his memory. He was there, it was his Town, his Club and he loved it.

If you support one of the big four for no other reason then they win things then there is no real connection. deos winning the FA Cup as a glory Chelsea fan actually mean anything? It's supporting teams like Ipswich that make football fans what they are. We put up with years of dross for one magical night we remember for ever.

the two EUFA cup runs ten years ago will live with me forever. Trips abroad with my mates, crazy nights in foreign bars, beating Inter Milan. These are live memories. I doubt Man U fans can remember one season from another. A mate of mine supports Gillingham becasue his dad did. he has had a lifetime of misery but they currently sit top of League 2. His time may be here.

Cropper Saves Penalty on U18s Return
at 10:23:14

The boy fowler is U14. So he could even be 13 but guess he is probably 14. He is an incredible talent. Spotted late by the town even though he was in the PDC for a few years. Played for debenham until possibly U12 before Town took him to the academy. certainly one to watch. Tall and composed on the ball.
