The 'Tinpot' East Anglian Derby
at 10:26:07

I understand your point about other rivalries go to school together and are friends but let me paint you this picture.
I am 24, from Halesworth which is equal distance between Ipswich and Norwich. I am Ipswich through and through as are my close family. Being the age I am I last saw us beat Norwich aged 14. That’s a long time to go through school/work and daily life where I work predominantly with Norwich fans having them take the piss.
Being from halesworth though I’m proud to say most in the town follow the team of their county. So come derby day the atmosphere in the pubs is mainly town fans but a few Norwich fans also present.
There’s something about Norwich fans. I swear they’re not like us. I can have a perfectly good conversation about football but can always tell what they really think. I think it mostly comes down to Norwich fans not being as intelligent football fans as ourselves. I swear the derby means more to them than life itself. Even as far as blokes at work wearing scarfs on their way in if they’ve won at the weekend against a different team and never seeing the scarf if they lose. The same applies in and around lowestoft where I live now. I’ve never seen so many Norwich shirts! I’m lucky to now be engaged and I can say her family also bleed blue. Her grandad is even an ex town reserve player from the early 60’s in Alf’s great team and the stories he tells.
So when I see a Norwich fan or anything associated with Norwich I can’t help but say “scum”
Like you say it was drilled in from into a young age of 5 as my parents say when we would go north of the border I would cry if I saw Norwich on a signpost.
This derby is by no means tinpot. And every time we play them I feel physically sick the whole 90 minutes. In our wildest dreams imagine this Sunday being 2-0 up with 5 to go. How we could all revel in it for once. Although the way they’re going we’d need to be 3 up with 10 to go.
I just feel some teams deserve success more than others. And since the age of 10 we’ve been pretty much on a downward curve. I feel it’s about time we deserved something to proud of. And with Lambert and the bigger picture I feel that is on the horizon.

YES YES YES YES YES YES!!

My number 1 ideal striker for us! Even the flexibility of us playing 4-4-2 Sears and him would work so well together. I like the way we're playing at the moment would be ideal

Another Five Against Ipswich on Saturday Please - Notes for Nottingham Forest
at 12:53:51

So if that is the majority of forest fans thoughts on us they are in for quite a shock tomorrow when we turn up on the front foot. If we cut out individual errors we could of won 3/4 of Lamberts games so far. Problem is it's not that they're errors. Some are just not good enough

Town Closing in on Fulham Youngster
at 20:32:14

Negative spin: No more signings. All deals off, Waghorn stays. Edun goes in Cm. Chalobah plays centre back.
Positive spin: cover for cm. Waghorn deal starts the domino effect. Only way to do shrews players deal is to give them one of ours on loan.

I love the sound of the positive spin

Hurst Undecided Whether to Include Waghorn With Bids Still on Table
at 17:25:29

As time has gone on and especially with the Nolan link I don't mind Waghorn moving on so much anymore. The deal for the Shrews pair seems very dependant on Waghorn going. But Hurst is going to play a 4-1-4-1. Nolan slots in that system perfectly. Waghorn doesn't. Hurst seems to be making Harrison his main man and feels he will suit the number 9 over Waghorn.
If we sell Waghorn and get those 4 mentioned I'd be very happy indeed. Makes us an overall stronger squad

Hurst Wants More Players to Stake a Claim
at 06:46:16

I for one have been wanting this transfer approach for years. Taking top lower league players with potential who have that hunger to play higher. You do realise that these championship players who will instantly help us fight for promotion are going to cost a lot of money that we don't have. And that we don't have that money this type of recruitment in the past with other clubs has been much more successful than freebies and loans.
It's no coincidence that Mick's most successful signings were hungry lower league players. Mings, Cresswell and Webster being those who have earnt the club the most money over the last few years.

The Sooner This Season Finishes, the Better - Notes for Nottingham Forest
at 14:38:25

Great piece as always Harry. Now this really is a careful what you wish for scenario. Warburton first full season in charge they were playing some great football. He transitioned that side into a great side to watch in 3 months. They were poor at the back but I'm sure he would've fixed that given the chance like his side at Brentford.
As they weren't where they wanted to be league position wise they sacked him. Now I don't know about other fans but I would take 16th next season if Warburton came in and transitioned our playing style to his own witnessing plenty of goals throughout the season. Now Forest are stuck with their own Mick McCarthy and are hating it! He's only been there 3 months. We endured that sort of football for 6 years!!

McCarthy: Home Crowd Can Give Us an Extra Lift
at 09:52:49

Perhaps there is, Yes Joe did but we still had players who had played in the premier league as well as Bent and Ambrose coming through. The advantage of having a lower league manager coming in you're right will have the benefit and finding gems in those leagues for little money. But it's hit and miss. Ideally we'd all like Evans to invest and have a ready made 20 goal season championship striker and other players such as creative midfielders and top centre half's that are quality players.
Then again we do have some good youth coming through. Flynn Downes and Andre Dozzell I'm sure will go onto have good careers. It'd be great to have them two at the heart of our midfield over the coming years alongside say Emyr Huws. Those 3 are all ours and I'm sure if they were all fit/trusted we'd play much more football throughout the side.

McCarthy: Home Crowd Can Give Us an Extra Lift
at 09:30:53

@outofline I don't appreciate being called an idiot. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Perhaps you can offer a manager that you think would have us promoted? Mick played attacking football at Wolves because he was given the money to invest in quality. Knowing that if he pushed players forward he's got the quality at the back to deal with the opposition threat. I'm sure that with this group of players trying to play attacking football we'd be relegated or close to it. Maybe you'd be happy with finishing 19th playing attractive football? The problem here is Evans who is the reason we have fallen behind other clubs with serious lack of investment. Mick every week tongue in cheek comments on the fact the opposition have “spent a few quid” which I always think is a snipe towards Evans. His press conferences this year I have to agree he hasn't helped himself and his arrogance and attitude sometimes is not what us town fans like. But I'd take Mick who is always astute in the transfer window, builds a good team chemistry and has every player fighting for him over a polite manager getting battered every week when let's face it the current crop aren't good enough to play the attractive football we all want. Have you seen us on a Saturday? We can barely string two passes together. The football ability of most (not all) of these players isn't there to do it. And the moment someone comes in wanting to go out and buy these quality players. There's no money for them to do it!
