Ten thousand for the women's team today
at 21:47 23 Mar 2024

When I first started watching Town in the old second division in the mid-1960's, it was not unusual for attendances to be around 9,000 to 10,000.

A lovely County. I grew up in Wellington, before it became Telford. As others have said, Severn Valley Railway, Blists Hill and Ironbridge.

Careful, the last time that money changed hands prior to a Town v Wednesday game, people ended up in prison. (Match-fixing scandal 1st December 1962. I was there.)

Anyone here ever ridden the Severn Bore?
at 15:29 12 Mar 2024

When I worked in financial services, a new sales manager used the Severn Bore as an analogy for being a successful salesperson (riding the wave) and an unsuccessful one (standing on the riverbank). Pure David Brent.

Congratulate Maidstone, move on, sign a number 9 (or two), be thankful we only have 6 games in Feb and not 7.

Referee from the 1960s/70s Maurice Fussey. He could run backwards really fast. Crowd loved him.

Rail Disruption

Be aware that there are some train cancellations tomorrow due to industrial action.
Fof example, those travelling on the Lowestoft line, there is no 13.06 from Lowestoft and also there is no 17.16 return train after the match.

Closed for the winter and Woody Bear is on holiday in my caravan at Hopton-on-Sea just off the A47 between Lowestoft and Yarmouth.

Steve Stacey played for both. Fun fact - John Atyeo played his last game for Bristol City against Ipswich Town on 10th May 1966 - and he scored twice in a 4-1 win.

Hats off to those going to Rotherham today

Or QPR away 1967-68 - open terrace, torrential rain and lost 1-0 to a Rodney Marsh goal.
Or Palace away in the same season when I got all the way to the ground in heavy rain and it was a late postponement.

What we learnt from today?

Agree with that summary and would add 8. Cardiff are a good solid team and did not make many errors. The fact that they sit 19th in the table shows the quality of this league.

Yes. Terry Butcher did it in the top division at age 19 or 20.
