The end of football is being voted on tomorrow...
at 12:47 18 Apr 2021

The Champions League (not featuring exclusively Champions and mostly not a League, so always a wonderfully named competition ...) is already a travesty of a competition, and one I've refused to watch for years.
The original European Cup, along with its 2 lesser companions, is what we should still have.

Finding Jack Charlton
at 13:28 13 Apr 2021

I enjoyed it, but thought it wasn't AS wonderful as the hype had suggested, mainly because of its Ireland-centric storyline .
I do remember being at Portman Road in what was possibly his last year as a player, and he took it upon himself to have a little run with the ball and then lash it into our net : we were not amused, at the time!

As a shareholder, I voted FOR Marcus Evans and will vote AGAINST GC20.
at 13:30 7 Apr 2021

Whereas I was one of 3(??) shareholders that voted against the Evans Group taking over : but would happily vote in favour of this as being less worse than the current position , except ... no vote is required.

Just watched 2001: A Space Odyssey, fully, for the first time
at 11:08 31 Jan 2019

It makes no sense, The book has a completely different ending to the film ... and also makes no sense. The whole story, in whatever form, is a complete waste of time and effort to read / watch : meaningless arty-farty drivel.

Did anyone get Waghorn's name on the back of their shirt this season?
at 16:27 7 Aug 2018

It is quite amusing that the Star / EADT fixture list pull-out shows 5 players this season : Chambers, Bialkowski, Knudsen, Waghorn and Garner ; 3 of whom could be gone by Friday.

Well, I can see Brenner's interview is going to be a harsh one already.

There is no bigger sycophant than Woolley : I had to switch off before the match when he was getting overly excited talking about what a wonderful player Cole "Shower-of-Sh1te" Skuse is.

I watched it at the time - my wife was most disturbed by it and still recounts how much she hated it whenever anything about nuclear war is mentioned!
It was, of course, a much lower budget interpretation of nuclear holocaust that followed on from the glitzy American production "The Day After".
To younger people who wonder what it must have been like watching Threads with the Cold War in full swing : most of us never thought for one minute that any nation would be stupid enough to use nuclear weapons against another state with nuclear capability, so a lot of the 'fear' was (as today) hyped up by the press / media. I viewed the show as grim fiction : no more, no less.

I think Stuart Slater by quite a large margin. If you consider loanees then it has to be Danny Simpson.

I also consider Douglas to be a terrible player, but, to be frank, that pretty much applies to most of the squad. However, it is unfair, and counter-productive, to pick on individual players when they are out on the pitch, mostly doing the best they can ; under MM's regime, they are often out of position etc.
Matt Richards has already been mentioned as someone who was hounded out of the team and the club, when in my view he should have been our club captain for the last 10 years at least ;
Andy Marshall was another decent player, way better than the big-headed Italian, but was never given a chance by the fans ;
go back a few years further and James Scowcroft used to be booed during the game while still a teenager learning his trade ;
and back in the 70s I used to stand at the front of the East Stand amongst a group of very cynical OAPs (I was a teenager) and they could not stand Ian Collard (younger readers : who?) - Bobby Robson considered him his 2nd best player (after Beattie) in his time at Ipswich (not that I'd agree with that) but these old boys were on his back for the full 90 minutes.
So, t'was ever thus : doesn't make it right.
