Town Agents' Fees £1,263,523

Although unfortunately this is part of the modern game, I really grudge money spent on agents. Always have done, always will.

IBC Unveils Plans For Portman Road Aquatics Centre Development
at 16:09:31

I wonder just when the "finalised" architect's design for the new Cobbold will be shared with supporters, given that Ashton has recently stated publically that design work is well down the line on this.

If construction is not scheduled to start for say 3/4 years (purely a speculative timeframe), is there any beneifit in sharing the proposed design this far ahead of build, or will it be held in abeyance for a few years, whilst we supporters speculate and ruminate thoughts umongst ourselves. I suppose our league status in the next year or two will have much to do with the timings.

Such interesting and exciting times. If anyone can make our dreams happen (on and off the pitch) it is the current ownership group, and Management team. We couldn't ask for any better in my opinion.

What a time to be a Town fan!!

European Clubs 'Monitoring' Hutchinson
at 10:00:21

We must enjoy this fantastic talant in these last dozen (or more?) games. He is one special player and potentially our best loan signing ever.

Unfortunately, I just don't see him being with us again next year, irrespective of what division we find ourselves in. I wish it were otherwise, but I just can't see it.

Bid Lodged For Al-Hamadi, New Offer For Gallagher Turned Down
at 05:57:33

Whenever a previous team has a significant sell on clause in a contract, it always seems to make negotiations much more difficult as the current selling team bumps the price up massively.

Such is the case with Al-Hamadi by the looks of things That's not so say he's not worth persuing though but I trust MA will do what's right for the Club, however time is now slipping away. An interesting one.

Edmundson: This is the Place to Be, I Don't Get Why You'd Leave

Excellent game and interview from Fridge. I totally disagree with him on one point though. I thought the ref was poor and it felt like we were playing against 12 players for much of the match.

Stansfield on Town's January List
at 10:39:07

An excellent young player with bags of potential but with three and a half years to run on a Premiership deal, he would be massively expensive. I'd love Town to get this player, but I just can't see it given the costs involved (fee and wages).

McKenna: A Great Period to Look Forward To
at 20:11:18

Pencilpete - I seem to remember Paul Cook shutting down many lines of quite valid questions every single week when I listened to his interviews on radio Suffolk, often for no good reason that I could fathom. He just seemed unwilling to answer the questions and I thought that response was very poor for an ITFC manager and disrespectful to our fans who wanted to know answers to these questions.

Kieran's responses to media questions, by contrast, are superb. No other word for it

McKenna: Four Coaches Who Have Had a Massive Impact on Players Here
at 16:46:38

The contrast between now and the pre-Gamechanger take over era is so massive, it's off the scale, as far as I'm concerned.

I wonder what poor old Lee O'Neil, the man given a dozen hats to wear by ME thinks when he looks at the club now. He was certainly a good man, who worked his nethers off for Town, but boy, was he at the club at the wrong time.

McKenna: A Really Good Day For Us
at 19:50:22

Such a comprehensive review as we have become accustomed to from McKenna. I never tire of listening to his interviews and if anything, they are getting better and more detailed as he gains experience.

Even if he can't answer a question directly, he still explains his thinking as far as he can, without giving anything away and gives context to the decision process, rather than just bat the question away and get tetchy like some of our previous managers.

I cannot wait for the season to begin, but I must admit the injury worries are taking the shine of things somewhat for me.

Sir Bobby Robson Stand to Be Jet-Washed
at 18:35:08

Some amusing comments above.

In all seriousness, this in another indicator how our new owners and senior management team are trying to improve our Portman Road home.

It may be a relatively small task, compared with some of the other major infrastrasture developments of which we are all aware, but sometimes it's the smaller, less expensive little jobs like this which speak volumes about the mindset of our owners.

This task could so very easily be overlooked, or just not done (as per the ME regime), but our owners seem to be really trying to improve our brilliant but but somewhat ageing stadium and I for one really applaud them for doing it. We can all be very proud of Portman Road again.

Woolfenden: We're Pretty Confident We Can Do Well This Season
at 13:27:54

Woolfie has really come out of his shell under KMc. He has much more to say for himself and is is giving more in interviews; I've really noticed this change in him over the course of last season.

Just seeing how he turned the dial upto 11 with the promotion celebrations shows a player that is very confident and happy in his surroundings. It's really good to see and he has become a real star for us.

AT LAST - a youngster who has/is fullfulling his early potential. A rare thing for us this century. Keep it going Woolfy!!

Nine Subs On Bench in Championship
at 17:45:22

As someone who started watch Town in 1974, I sometimes think this substitution business is getting a little over the top. I'm not totally against having five subs from seven and now nine (it certainly helped us last season), but I would make two reflections in comparison to the "good old days":

1. Managers really had to get their starting line up spot on back in the 70's, as there was so little scope to change the team members and/or formation with only one sub available - as is clearly obvious. More often than not, the single available substitution was taken up by an injury, creating the need for a bit of an interesting reshuffle. Does the much greater level of modern day flexability make it harder or easier for managers of today?

An interesting point to ponder and one which makes direct comparisons of old and modern managers very difficult I feel. It certainly shows how much the game has changed in the past 50 years.

2. This is more of a whimsical observation, but today's set up takes away almost all of the risk of having to put an outfielder in goal because of injury or sending off. This risk was always present and real back in the day and made for some very interesting times, including for Town, who have had a number of outfield goalies during the 70's, 80's and 90's.

Anyway, just a couple of thoughts!
