Thoughts at 2am

What a wonderful day for all us Ipswich Town fans wherever you may be worldwide. Never ever thought there were so many of us. I’ve had way too much to drink, hope you have too, god did it taste good! Can’t get to sleep I’m still so excited & overwhelmed at how we have performed in the last few weeks. It is all I have thought about for way too long! How far have we come, following the takeover from the depressive Evans era. To our American friends! All those years ago with the Cobbold family & Sir Bobby Robson, the demise, the horrid Evans era. Who would ever have thought our saviours would be from the US! But what lovely blokes they are. Christ, to turn around in 18 months what Evans failed to do in 20 years is astounding. Feel so grateful to the Gamechanger guys, you did what you said you’d do, & we are all so enormously grateful. To see the heart & belief coming back to everyone around the club is incredible. I really like the way they get the right people doing the right stuff. So simple & effective. Could ramble on, but to all of you, it’s a privilege to share this. Not sure if we’ve ever had this much positivity & momentum. Not sure if there will ever be a better season? We are back! BFY.

Qatar World Cup
at 19:04 18 Nov 2022

I know absolutely nothing about this coming tournament. I've discovered there are eight stadiums, eight. What happens to these when the tournament has finished? Are there eight super teams to take them over & play in the Qatar Premier league? Or do they get demolished? I can't see Qatar needing eight football stadiums but what do I know? Is it that big, to accommodate thousands of fans from each Country? Where does everyone stay? The weather should be great, but what else is there to do? Seems like a daft place for a World Cup. Go ahead make me look silly..!!

Travel Advice for London on 18th August
at 12:25 2 Aug 2022

I have tickets for the Test match aginst South Africa at Lords on 18th August. Also have train tickets booked, however there is now a train strike on that day, so need to find an alternative. Three of us travelling from West Suffolk. If I were to drive & park, what are my choices for getting to & from that area of London, bearing in mind parking will need to be for 10 hours or so? I've been to Lords many times but have always accessed it from the south. Genuinely flummoxed on this one. Any recommendations gratefully received. BFY

Do we have a board?
at 19:18 11 Apr 2021

Following the takeover. We now know that O'Leary is Chairman. So does that mean that Johnson, Bakay, Detmer, Evans, Scwartz, plus the CEO, constitute the "board"..?? Slightly confused as nothing appears to have been mentioned about this & we haven't had this arrangement at Ipswich for such a long time, I've forgotten how it works. What about the ITFC shareholders, presumably they would get representation? Of am I totally wrong on this? Forgive me if so.

All not happy at Portsmouth
at 09:32 11 Mar 2021

Lot of talk in the local press & social media about Kenny Jackett's future at Portsmouth. Fans getting very twitchy about the current poor run of form. Have they blown it? One less to worry about for us?

Brett Johnson Rhode Island Development

Been reading about the takeover this morning & found this site which details the plans for the Pawtucket site by Fortuitous Partners. Looks very positive & impressive. Is this the future & are we in at the right time with the right people?

Wonder how Mick Mills is feeling?

Poor Mick was in tears after the Northampton game, beside himself at what his beloved club has become. Wonder how one of the most honourable guys the club has ever had, feels right row?

New Manager Candidates
at 15:59 1 Feb 2021

I had a little time earlier & thought I'd research some win percentages of various managers who have been mentioned in posts recently.

Potential Candidates Win Percentage -

Danny Cowley - 658 games @ 51.4%
Sir Bobby Robson - 1446 games @ 49.65%
Jack Ross - 245 games @ 49.39%
Darren Moore - 120 games @ 47.5%
Slaven Bilic - 416 @ 46.39 %
Daniel Farke - 231 games @ 43.7%
Paul Cook - 671 games @ 43.1%
Gus Poyet - 358 games @ 42.74%
George Burley - 700 games @ 42.4%
Nigel Adkins - 535 games @ 42.4%
Eddie Howe - 545 games @ 41.83%
Alan Pardew - 830 games @ 41.1%
Nigel Pearson - 497 games @ 40.85%
Chris Hughton - 470 games @40.0%
Joe Royle - 1097 games @ 39.11%
Mick McCarthy - 987 games @ 38.7%
Paul Lambert - 627 games @ 37.2%
Tony Pulis - 1137 games @ 36.06%
Chris Coleman - 426 games @ 32.9%

Obviously have to look at where the experience was at, Cowley is only at lower league & was somewhat found out higher up. Sir Bobby was simply amazing, he did it at the highest level everywhere. At the lower end we see two of our recent managers!

Two names jump out for me. Slaven Bilic & Darren Moore. Both currently employed. Bilic in China might be tempted? Then theres a certain Jack Ross.

If we want to keep everything in house, then surely you must recognise the record & experience of George Burley & get him working with Dyer & Butcher.

Just trying to help Mr Evans get things sorted!

Today is the day, surely..???
at 11:03 31 Jan 2021

Evans has to bin Lambert today surely? With a whole week to prepare with a new manager. Come on, Dyer & Butcher! 23 games to try it & see if it can work. There is nothing to lose & everything to gain. Think they call it a no brainer! Sort it out Ipswich.

Derby County 4-0 up
at 19:13 29 Dec 2020

Not only winning but destroying Birmingham. Currently 4-0 up. Whats the management set up there, is Rooney the new manager or are they all doing it by committee? If its Rooney then Lambert needs to pay him a visit. They've been awful all season but hell of a turnaround tonight. Rooney just somehow really looks the part.
