Lambert: I Don't Know Anything About QPR Interest in Judge
at 09:47:49

We're £9m short due to relegation. Evans is unable to make up this shortfall due to FFP rules,(right or wrong they exist). This means we can neither buy new players, or turn down any realistic bid for one of our existing players. We have to balance the books. There's no conspiracy, just a long term trickle down effect as a result of administration followed by a series of disastrous management choices from the moment Magilton was sacked.

The Ex-Files: Gavin Johnson
at 11:30:19

Nice to catch up with what Gavin Johnson is doing. One of my favourite players from what at times was a dark period for Town - always gave 100% and generally very underrated. I'll always remember the goal against Liverpool. I remember following the Town player coach into Ipswich in my mates car after the promotion with all the players waving and then onto the Blackadder; happy days!

Block D Seats Most Expensive in Football League
at 10:16:19

Monarch Blue - that is indeed a ridiculous price for a game of football, but it is to see one of the greatest teams in the world and arguably the worlds best player playing. Without running down Ipswich too much they're quite literally not in the same league on any level!

Block D Seats Most Expensive in Football League
at 17:01:29

It's become obvious to me season on season that the club is no longer 'aimed' at the people it used to be - things change but not always for the better sadly. I've supported the club for the better part of 40 years and have been trying to get my 9 year old interested in it as well. Sadly I live over 350 miles away so only get the chance to go to a couple of home games each season. I've taken him to 3 and we lost all of them and have yet to score a goal and he has started asking me why we support Ipswich as they're rubbish. I've given him the whole '3 generations of supporters' speech and the stuff about past glories but he said he wanted to support Tottenham because he liked their players better. In a final attempt to win him over I tried to take him to the Leeds game recently. A quick look on the website showed me a cost of £42 for seats for us both with a poor view and where you'd be soaked if it rained, while £47 would raise us up and give us the cover of the Cobbold Stand but frankly I just can't justify the cost anymore - I could take the whole family somewhere nice for the same or buy half our weeks shopping. We didn't go, he was upset at first as was I but when the inevitable loss came through on the radio I was relieved in some ways. A Tottenham shirt will probably cost about the same as a Town one and he won't have to constantly explain to his school friends who Ipswich are and why he supports a 'rubbish team'. Thanks for all the memories ITFC but unless you make a major change of direction I certainly won't be a 'customer' any more and you've already lost the next generation of potential 'income streams'.

Chief Executive Clegg to Leave Town
at 10:47:25

I think Clegg has done a good job considering the financial restrictions he was increasingly forced to work under. Where possible players were signed and managers given the support they asked for but he rightly refused to be held to ransom by players, clubs and agents for fees and wages that were simply not justified. Despite what people here like to think it seems unlikely he was anything to do with players failing to be signed - this was simply down to money and the personalities and reputations of the managers in place at the time. All this in the face of what seems relentless criticism. Thanks for the work Simon.

Wellens: Town Players Don't Care
at 13:42:02

It's not his place as a loan player to potentially sow the seeds of further dissent and bad feeling amongst the players and staff. He should not have been allowed to come out with his opinions ,(and that's all they are - the opinions of one loan player after a couple of fractious weeks during which he's had negligible impact and the manager who thought he would add to the squad has left) when his spouting off could further damage the clubs reputation and chances of securring a decent successor to the mess Jewell has left. The squad is largely Jewells, he was in charge and it was Jewell that failed to get a team together and motivate them in any way what-so-ever. There is clearly dead wood to be removed, but Wellens is clearly part of it after this little outburst. These things should be discussed in private not to the press unless specifically directed to do so by the club.

Burley Interested in Old Job

cutmeibleedblue;

The 9-0 at Old Trafford was just after Burley had taken over from Lyall and the club was in free-fall from the early years of the Premiership.

Town Opt for Category Two
at 11:02:17

It seems like the only sensible decision the club could make. The added cost of the required further new infastructure along side the huge increase of yearly running costs means this just isn't sustainable for the club without huge further subsidy from ME.
Those that complain that the club wasted money of players like Norris, Priskin, Bullard and Leadbitter that could have funded this need to think a little harder. These players were signed because the manager at the time thought they could improve the squad and Clegg and ME sensibly decided that the manager should be the one picking potential new players as long as a contract could be agreed that they felt was financially correct and sensible within the rules at the time. They didn't/haven't worked out as well as hoped or left for nothing at the end of their contract. This is not Cleggs fault. The power is with the players and agents and success at a previous club doesn't mean success at ITFC, or the other way around. Would you rather have Clegg and ME telling the manager,(whoever he is) who he can and can't buy? Do you really think spending any money on experienced, established players is wrong and the academy should be funded at the expense of the current first team? Even with category 1 status there is little to stop the next Bent or Wickham being lured away before we can truly develop them or benefit from their skills in the first team or financially.

Town Linked With King

I can only hope this is paper talk. I certainly would not pay to see a team which he was signed for. He should have been frozen out of the game.

Town Topic: The Greatest Town Goals
at 17:31:20

I agree with springfield, Sergei Baltacha's debut goal sticks in my memory, a rare jewel during John Duncan's reign which as far as I'm concerned was worse than Keanes time in charge! I've searched about for a video the goal but the best I could come up with was this one -
It's a documentry of about Sergei and is full of ITFC 'nostalgia' - the old North Stand, spiked fences and such 'legends' as Steve 'Gumby' Palmer....

McAuley Rejects Town Offer
at 16:04:10

"I'm happy here, but I have got to look after number one at this stage of my career."

So clearly not interested in the club, just how much money he can grab before he's too old. The timing stinks as well and seems purely aimed at the new manager, who will hopefully think long and hard before deciding if this is the sort of player we need. Just compare McAuley's comments with Norris' regarding his contract. I just can't understand why someone from a team which has failed to push the club forward expects a pay rise. I also think he's especially stupid for airing this publically - he's not Wayne Rooney and we won't forgive and forget.

Delaney: Only Fighting For My Place in the Team
at 17:49:48

whoppit.

So Dwight Yorke is a reliable source now is he? No axe to grind with Keane? No reason to spice up an otherwise dull auto-biography?
Simply writing "we were a bit crap and lost some games" doesn't sell books does it, but playing up to Keane's pantomine bad guy image seems to work.

Keane Relaxed on Contract
at 15:54:41

It's a good thing that Keane has already made his money. I would hope it would prove to the doubters out there that he's here for all the right reasons. He certainly doesn't need to face drivel like half the stuff posted here with £27m in the bank does he? He obviously craves success as a manager and loves the game so why not get behind the man? We're one point off the play-offs and in the last 8 of a cup for fecks sake!

Town Make Eight Available for Transfer
at 12:03:01

Just because they've been made available for transfer doesn't mean they'll go and we'll end up with the 'bare bones' of a squad - it's surely just a case of making the players and potential new clubs for them aware of their availability?

While I'll be sad to see a few go,(Pablo,Stead & Garvan - shame but they obviously don't fit in with Keane) and feel that Martin should be given another chance can anyone honestly say that Bruce, Quinn, Healy and Lisbie offer anything that other squad players can't or are the sort of players to push us toward the top end of the table?

Murphy Hopes Town and Sunderland Can Agree Fee
at 09:54:52

ThatMurhenCross - why would we agree a fee of £2m rising to £4m for a player who Sunderland were happy to sell for £1.5m rising to £2.5m when he had a year more on his contract?

That said, sign him up when the time is right - he certainly doing the job for us now and hopefully will continue to do so.
