Yep, not on a VPN, had to reset my password but only get the audio pass option, no vid, v disappointing. Guardian match notifications and the EADT updates only in that case. COYB!

Things to do in Budapest?
at 15:29 15 Jul 2022

Budapest's courtyard bars are well worth a visit, discrete gems.

Definitely the thermal baths. Gellert on the other side of the Danube on the Pest side is another good one, Szechenyi is fun and central.

Beautiful city, shame about the grim Hungarian government.

Songs that were on the “wrong album”

Jason Falkner's magnificent 'Author Unknown' was on his Can You Still Feel album rather than his preceding album, Jason Falkner Presents Author Unknown.

Good idea for a thread and some fine suggestions so far.

Seconded, great start to series 3 last night. Especially enjoyed Stath's many baby-is-coming faces outside the bathroom.

In a simiar-ish vein the Kurupt FM Greatest Hits album is well worth an ear for a lyrical bang to the jaw.

RIP Mark Keds
at 22:29 11 Jan 2021

Very saddened by this, saw them at the Y Club in Chelmsford in 89/90 around the time of Too Much Kissing, a blistering gig it was.

My fave is Got it at the Delmar, with its chunky bass.

Had no idea he was credited on the Libertines' Can't Stand Me Now. Rip indeed and thanks Phil for the alert.

@Melford - with you on the Brutus front, fantastic band.

The SAS And The Glam That Goes With It is on frequent rotation round my way due to a neighbour being the very embodiment of Ginger Satan, although I imagine the Brutus had a different odious ginger in mind in '97

Contracting
at 13:07 25 Sep 2018

Yep, for a decade or so.

Pros - avoiding politics, move on if a job doesnt suit, autonomous working, rewards still outweight the aggo of managing one's company finances

Cons - navigating govt's frequent system and tax changes, discipline to maintain a pension, presenteeism pressure - booking leave can be tricky, risk of gaps between contracts and having a fallback fund to see you through, can be stressful given client expectations

A good accountant is a must. Umbrella companies tend to be crap. Happy to share further tips if you do take the plunge.

All the best with yr interview!

Fantastic songwriter, saw 'em on their Vivadixie tour at the Astoria. Very sad that he's no longer with us.

Nice one, will be reading that later.

I picked up the new book Untold - The Daniel Morgan Murder by Alistair Morgan and Peter Jukes a couple of days ago. Plenty of police malfeasance and full-on corruption in that, among other Murdoch-related sordidness. Very, very grim.
