Town defender Fabian Wilnis has been named as the best defender in the Premiership - according to OPTA's statistics. Not only that but Mark Venus is the third best defender in the Premiership with Leeds' Ian Harte in second. With the week already seeing Titus Bramble compared with Bobby Moore, Sol Campbell and even Pele, George Burley clearly has a defence the envy of Europe. Expect those big Italian clubs to come in with £10 million bids for Veno any day now.

Town centre-half Manu Thetis is hoping to make his loan move to Wolves permanent. Out of favour at Portman Road since last October the Frenchman is very pleased to be at the Midlanders: "As soon as I heard Wolves were interested in me I made it clear I wanted to move to Molineux. This is a big story for me but I don't know how it will end. Wolves have proved they want to be a big success this year by signing players like Temuri Ketsbaia. I would like to play a part in those plans and I will be doing all I can to persuade the manager to offer me a contract."

Town are to field a strong reserve side in tonight's first home game with Leicester City. Gary Croft, Martijn Reuser, John McGreal, Wayne Brown and Keith Branagan are amongst the experienced players in the squad for the game which kicks off at 7pm. The game will be an ideal opportunity for players such as McGreal to stake a claim for a first team place. Town's Dutch youngsters Nabil Abidallah and Guillermo Graaven are included before they meet up with their U18 international squad next month. Also in the squad is Benoit Subrin who is a 17-year-old right back on trial from Lyon. Town squad: Branagan, Pullen, Nicholls, Croft, McGreal, J Miller, Brown, Moffat, Reuser, Niven, Abidallah, Midgley, Graaven, Subrin, English and Artun.

Supporters looking to get tickets via the ballot are going to get more tickets than they imagined. The club have announced that just 4,500 people have entered themselves for the lottery and that could see tickets allocated for every other game. Supporters can still register for the ballot up 'til September 23rd, although you'll have to register for memebership of either Portman Plus or Blues Crew by September 8th.

This week sees a rather empty Town training field as six players join up with international squads. Titus Bramble is with the England U21s, Jim Magilton and Sean Friars are with the Northern Ireland full and U21 sides respectively and Matt Holland is with the Irish squad and wasn't one of the players involved in a car bonnet jumping incident last night they were Phil Babb and Mark Kennedy surprise, surprise.
