Peters Gets Late Call
Peters Gets Late Call

Midfielder Jaime Peters has received a late call into the Canada squad for their friendly in Luxembourg on Wednesday. Peters is one of three Town players on international duty, with Lewis Price and loanee Gavin Williams away with Wales in Cyprus.

Peters has travelled to Luxembourg today to join up with Frank Yallop's squad and replaces former Town trialist Sandro Grande, now with Viking Stavanger in Norway, who has a calf injury.

Wales manager John Toshack has told Lewis Price that he will finally make his full international debut in Cyprus on Wednesday.

The Town keeper says he was becoming impatient after injury forced him to miss previous opportunities to make his senior bow: "Waiting for my Wales debut has been very frustrating. I have been called up several times now and there's always some injury problem.

"Something always seems to knock me back. It has been very disappointing that I haven't been able to take the opportunities that have been presented to me, John Toshack has said he wants to see me play for the senior side and to progress, but I seem to keep getting injured at the worst time.

"But it is good that he has said he wants to give me my debut, I take confidence from that. But it is frustrating that I have not managed to do it yet, something always seems to come up to stop me."

Price says Toshack has told him he can make himself an automatic choice: "Hopefully, this will be the start for me. John Toshack has said he wants a keeper for the next half-dozen years and he is giving me this chance.

"I want to claim that spot and take my chance to make the number one jersey my own."

Gavin Williams, on loan from West Ham for a month, is not expected to be in the starting line-up but could be used from the bench. The Wales match is being shown live from 6.40pm on BBC2 W, which is available on Sky channel 961.

Academy striker Darryl Knights missed England's U18 match in Turkey on Tuesday after picking up an ankle injury in the recent Town U18 game against Charlton.
