Joe: Fantastic!
Joe: Fantastic!

Town manager Joe Royle was unsurprisingly chuffed with his side's 5-1 walloping of Sheffield United. Blades' boss Neil Warnock bemoaned embarrassing defending on the first two goals.

Royle said: "With five goals again we continue to be free-scoring and I think entertaining at home, although we had our usual 10-minute wobble just after half time.

"We have got to keep going and our biggest fear is still injuries. Two lads [Miller and Wilnis] recovered to play today, but we are only two or three injuries away from a crisis.

"I thought in the first half we were very tight. Had we come in 2-0 at half time I would have said it was our best half of the season, but the second half really opened up and when we get chances we are deadly.

"We get players forward from midfield and again the goals have been shared out. The third goal was vital and knocked them back. Bam Bam did well to get on the end of the corner and I thought he was probably our man of the match.

"Shefki did great again and just keeps grafting away and took his goals well. We all have great respect for what he does for the team and Westy was on target again. That's six for him this season and a terrific record.

"The crowd were fantastic tonight as well and really got behind us when it was 2-1, so it was a good night all around."

Central defender Jason De Vos suffered a dead leg and may be a doubt for Saturday's trip to Burnley.

Warnock was not impressed with his side's efforts: "That is the last time I come here and try to play football."

He described the way the Blades conceded the first two goals as "embarrassing" but still felt his side could get something from the match at the break: "I said to the lads at half time I felt we could get a good result from this game, so it just shows what I know.

"A free header from a corner when we are on top is inexcusable after fighting back and showing a lot of guts - we really shot ourselves in the foot."
