Joe still wants to start next season with a new striker partnering Darren Bent and has given clues that this may well happen before Town's first game against the Gills.

"Financial restrictions might mean that there may have to be a change in the squad to do this, but it could well happen," he explained.

"Neither Pablo Couñago nor Shefki Kuqi have been at their best so far although every man in the squad still has a chance to play for his place.

"It would be fair to say that there are things in the pipeline, and I will also like to bring in one other player to increase numbers and he would play in midfield.

"Things move on and although it might not be possible to add to the squad at this exact time this could change and a newcomer could be signed."

It seems there may be some friction in the camp as Pablo Couñago disagrees that he's not playing well. It's interesting that Richard Naylor will play alongside Darren Bent this evening as Joe looks for a working combination to start the new campaign.
