Kinsella a Target?
Kinsella a Target?

Town boss Joe Royle has admitted that former Colchester and Charlton midfielder Mark Kinsella could be amongst his list of targets. Royle says that as yet he has made no offer to the Irish international or anyone else.

Royle said: "We have not made a move for anyone as yet but I'm not ruling him out. I will have a clearer picture by the end of next week of who is still here and what we need.

"My priority was a centre-half and a striker and, even though we have lost John McGreal we have brought in Jason De Vos, so we are covered there.

"We are still a little top heavy with forwards but Marcus going does free things up a little. If Jermaine and Jim go then getting a midfielder becomes a priority and while we have not made any move for Kinsella I'm not saying he is not someone we may consider."

Kinsella joined West Brom on a free transfer from Aston Villa in January but was released by Gary Megson at the end of his contract.

The 31-year-old started his career in England with Colchester United and had a trial at Portman Road soon after George Burley moved from Layer Road to Town.

He joined Charlton for £150,000 in 1996 after seven years with the Essex club. In 2002 he cost Aston Villa £750,000. Kinsella has won 48 Ireland caps and has scored three goals.
