Marshall Set for Millwall
Marshall Set for Millwall

Keeper Andy Marshall is expected to join Millwall on a month's loan later this week. TWTD reported last Wednesday that Lions' assistant boss Ray Wilkins had watched the Town stopper in action for the reserves against Coventry.

Town boss Joe Royle says the deal is not yet confirmed but looks likely to go through: "Millwall have been in contact with us, and it looks like Andy will be going on a month's loan.

"It's not been tied up yet, but we won't be standing in Andy's way. It's a chance for him, and his leaving on loan would help our wage bill.

"Andy hasn't had much first-team football lately, and he needs to be playing.

"It would release funds in our quest for a loan signing, although I must stress that our ability to sign a player on loan is not tied down to one of our players going.

"We have a loan budget, and I'm still chasing up a couple of enquiries.

"Andy's loan move wouldn't necessarily lead to a permanent deal. That would be a long way down the line."

Millwall are set to lose first choice keeper Tony Warner, who once had a trial spell with Town, to Premiership Wolves.
