Suffolk Constabulary were pleased with the way yesterday's game between England and Croatia passed off. They made just over 30 arrests but only four inside the ground and none after the match.

Superintendent Carl Puiy, who led the operation which involved 600 officers, says there were a few problems but nothing major: "There was some disorder in the town centre between high-risk factions from Ipswich Town and Norwich City.

"It was a targeted approach and some of those arrested have been involved in football-related violence before. We got the right people and sent out a message that that sort of behavious will not be tolerated in Suffolk."

The major incident prior to the game was a clash in Lloyds Avenue which led to 12 arrests. Police had warned known Norwich City toublemakers not to turn up to yesterday's game.
