Ex-Town and England defender Kevin Beattie has been told that his health scare is not a return of pancreatitis as he feared. Beattie was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning after complaining of stomach pain.

Eleven years ago pancreatitis almost killed Beattie, now 49, and he felt his symptoms were the same. Staff at Ipswich Hospital have allayed his fears: "They are telling me it isn't that. I've had x-rays and ultrasound, but they haven't been able to tell me what the problem is.

"I'm due to have a scan today and that should provide some answers. At the moment it's a complete mystery."
