Town legend Kevin Beattie is reported to be comfortable in Ipswich Hospital after tests on Tuesday. The former central defender was taken ill yesterday with a suspected recurrence of the pancreatitis which saw him close to death 12 years ago.

Beattie's wife Margaret said her husband was certain that he had the same symptoms as he had back in the early nineties: "He knew what it was it was the same as he went through in 1991."

Emergency services were contacted and the ex-England international was given a painkilling injection before he went to hospital in an ambulance at 8.30am.
