Williams Remains at Town
Thursday, 1st Feb 2024 21:10

Full-back Brandon Williams remains on loan at Town and is set to return to Portman Road having been back at Manchester United for assessment following spells out with illness and injury prior to Christmas.

Williams returned to Old Trafford earlier in the month but with his loan kept up and running.

Last week manager Kieran McKenna said the matter of Williams’s return would be settled prior to the transfer window closing at 11pm this evening.

“That will be a discussion and a decision to be made before the window closes next week,” he said.

Williams, 23, will now return to the Town squad and will remain a Blues player for the second half of the season.

Brilliant news alongside the business the club have done on this Jan transfer.
Look forward to seeing Brandon back and hopefully in time back to his best- like him as a player and hopefully he can contribute to a push for promotion COYB.

All very mysterious... Let's hope his head and body are in the right place, so that it's Brandon Williams we were wowed by early in the season who actually returns.. let's hope so, he is well worth a place in the squad...

Brandon Williams did something so bad that we're not allowed to talk about it, but not so bad that we would automatically end the loan. I couldn't imagine what that could be! :)
All a bit odd. The club left it a bit up in the air and gave weird rumours room to breathe. Williams was on great form, then was ill, then after that he played awfully in two matches, presumably still ill because he clearly wasn't up to it.
Here's hoping that he has managed to recuperate and is ready to challenge for a place in the starting 11.

Europablue. Clearly didn't do anything wrong tho did he? Cant see us having him back if he did. Wouldnt fit into the culture of the club.Just typical town fans spreading rumours when his form dipped a bit. Bcse those fans didnt take into account the illnesses and injury he had. Which is why he returned to united so they could assess him, to see if he ok to continue his loan. Thankfully he is, and hopefully he can get back to the form he showed when he 1st arrived. Would then be great cover for both fb roles.

blues1 Yes, I agree. I was making fun of the rumourmongers. He's one of those players that we would consider trying to keep hold of if we do get promoted.
I couldn't see a pathway back into the side for Clarke earlier in the season, Williams was that good. Then he played when he clearly wasn't feeling great because he was just not with it.

We played our best football when he was fit and firing at right back. Better than a new signing this.

If he is fit & his head is right, he will be a serious asset to us for the rest of the season; his form just 3 months ago was excellent, where he justifiably become our starting right back ahead of Clarke.
Clearly there is a question mark over him due to a couple of poor performances after that period & then his mysterious illness/absence, but hopefully he'll come back strong.

Underwhelmed doesn't cover it. He'd better have a damn siight better attitude in the 2nd half of the season.

Absolutely love our transfer window tbh.....i personally think Al Hamadi will thrive on his step up & become a big player for us.. Williams coming back [ hopefully all is well ] too. Only worrying concerns i have about our players at the moment is Broadhead , who is definitely not been on his game for at least a month or so....Any thoughts , as a lot of people are now noticing it tbh....COYB..ITID..

I really like this lad, clearly can go all the way to the top, i hope he can settle down and have a good second half the season. If there were any issues first half, maybe Luke Chambers put him up?

For all we know Man United may have been running the rule over him to bring him back into their first team for 2nd half of the season as they are struggling. Would explain the mysterious nature of him going and the relative secrecy around it? Or could have just been illness as reported.

hopefully his remains can be buried/cremated with appropriate respect.....especially since they were left here.....

Even in the last game he played (was it QPR?), there were some flashes of brilliance: well-timed last-ditch tackles (some of them across the other side of the field), and a gut-busting overlap run down the right wing which Hutchinson ignored. People were just over-critical of his solo runaround, at the end of which he was dispossessed. He is an essential part of the squad, and we should support him fully.

@jaycee Nothing to do with 'sick' (although I doubt it is illness and more some off the field nonsense), but actually that he's looked like a big time Charlie who's deigned to do us a favour since he arrived, but actually isn't anywhere near as good as his ego thinks. Always looks like he's putting in half the effort of every other player. If Donacien was fit he should definitely have been packed off. Still he shouldn't get a look in if Clarke continues in his current form.

Van Dusen. What a total load of bs. He had 3 or 4 illnesses in a short space of time. So went to reassessed to see if there was an underlying issue.
Do you really think, with the criteria we have for signing players now, that they would have him back, if there were off the pitch issues with him? Simply wouldn't happen. There's noway they'd want to risk upsetting the camaraderie within the squad.

Let's get this business behind us. Despite what people are quoting as BS yes there have inevitably been issues surrounding this lad, they seem to have been resolved we hope and I hope personally they never rear their ugly head again.
Brandon is a class footballer when fully fit and fully focused. I trust everybody will now give him a fresh start and he will respond accordingly. I Also have the utmost respect for the football club and it's integrity to deal with and support this young man and hope he can play a part in another promotion.
