Broadhead Nominated For Goal of the Month
Friday, 13th Oct 2023 10:50

Blues forward Nathan Broadhead’s strike in the 3-2 home victory over Cardiff City has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month for September.

The Wales international’s goal brought the scoreline back to 2-1 at a time when it appeared the Blues were set for their second home defeat on the bounce.

Also nominated are former Town midfielder Andre Dozzell for his goal for QPR at Middlesbrough, Aaron Connolly’s strike for Hull at home to Coventry and Joel Piroe’s effort for Leeds at Millwall.

Must admit, Dozzells looked the better goal...

Surely Williams solo effort is in the bag for next month though.

I would say Chaplin's goal v hull was better than Williams goal. Lovely quick break from keeper and a great finish. Saying that we have already scored about 4 GOTM contenders in the Hull/Preston games alone!

NIce goal, but Dozzell's strike is more explosive, Connolly's header is such a clever finish, and that Leeds goal is just class - what they looked capable of doing every time they went forward in the first half back in August (Prem strikeforce, League 1 defence...)

Goals from 20 to 25 yards are quite common but individual efforts like Williams goal are far more difficult and require greater physical strength and athleticism and not often seen during a season. Also he showed great composure to put the ball away after a energy sapping run. Not many other players at the club could have scored that type of goal possibly Burns who has the pace and strength but maybe not the composure..

Dozzell's goal (and the snap passing before that) was electric. Love our boy's goal, but not sure it'll get this one - this time.

I think for team involvement it will be the Leeds goal. But all we're quite special.

Loyalties aside, I'd say any of those I'd vote for but for very different reasons. All deserving if I'm honest.
Thought Broadhead had to do more work for his vs Dozells, but Leeds team effort was impressive, as was the headed goal. Tough call.
