Club Introduce International TownTV Subscription
Thursday, 10th Aug 2023 16:40

Town have introduced an annual TownTV subscription for international fans.

The package for fans outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland will cost £170 for 12 months.

Town initially only made a monthly package costing £19.99 available to overseas supporters but after being contacted by fans who previously bought an annual subscription from iFollow, have revised what’s on offer.

TownTV properly launches this weekend when the Blues host Stoke City. The club’s director of communications Marcus Nash told the club site: “After a significant investment this summer, we are excited to launch TownTV’s full match coverage for this weekend’s game with Stoke.

“Supporters who have already subscribed have been able to enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes content on demand, taking fans closer to the club than ever before, with the addition of live match coverage from this weekend.

“We have listened to our supporters during the initial launch period and have worked to make TownTV a smooth experience for users, while also now introducing an annual subscription option for international subscribers.

“The club has put together a team of on-screen talent, including experienced sports presenters and a host of former Town players, which will make TownTV the matchday destination for supporters during what we hope is another successful season.”

TWTD spoke to Nash regarding what fans can expect from TownTV, which games will be available and more here. TownTV can be found and subscribed to here

There will be grunts at it being £30 more a year than before, but the product is different this year.
Pre-game show, higher production value, more cameras, more than likely (yet to be seen) higher bitrate stream, leading to better viewing.
Good value for supporters abroad IMO.

And for fans who have already purchased a monthly subscription, club let's you change it to annual with a refund on your initial monthly payment.

Class from club. Happy with this.

As much as I was initially upset with the monthly payment scheme for us international fans, I feel as though our club as heard our disappointment and acted accordingly, which just shows how much fans are today taken into consideration and listened to. I even received an e-mail to inform me about the annual subscription possibility.
Just another example of how the Club Management has changed so remarkably over the past 2 years and is now acting WITH its fanbase and for its fanbase.
Thanks ITFC. You have my annual subscription in the next hour !

Perhaps we could remind the commentator that the vast majority of us can only get the radio commentary so he needs to keep talking. There were many times on Wednesday where we just had silence (not just when they had a glitch) and sometimes it's hard to tell where the ball is. It was a mistake replacing the Radio Suffolk commentary from ifollow last year. I'd rather have Brenner Woolley any day.

Welwyn, Woolley was talented but had lost the passion I’m sorry to say.as I’ve said before, sometimes we’d score and I wouldn’t know if we’d conceded. That whole show was so glum, he and Mills were doing the club no favours - so I understand the club’s decision there.

Agree the new commentator isn’t perfect, but hopefully he’s learning his craft and will continue to improve. Ian Westlake is very knowledgeable. Let’s see how it all develops - I’m sure the club are thinking the same/similar.

And fair play Town listening to the international fans. And I hope fans now show their proper support in return. Everyone has a part to play.

"Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!"

We have owners who actually listen to fans. Then response was fast and fair.
I'm going to sign up now to reward the thoughtfulness.

Can we vote for Gamechanger in the next general election??

Well that’s good because the previous offer was a 71% increase. This is ONLY 22.5%, still a chuffing rip off but let’s hope they freeze it for a while. It hasn’t exactly delivered yet in terms of quality or lack of glitches and cock ups.

Happy with this. 30 more gbp is fair enough with The clubs investment in Town TV. Hope it will work well from the start.

I bought the monthly subscription less than 24 hours before they announced this ! Nice that they already thought through refunding those that had already signed up for the monthly. Great that they listened and put this right.

Great job. It's great that the club is listening. Now please support Samsung tablets. For some reason the app only works on my phone. I'm going to have to have a more sophisticated set up so that I can output my computer screen on the TV, but it should be possible to watch properly on the TV!

£170 for some shamateurish ramblings about a franchise and some match coverage of second rate football? And franchise followers appear to be as happy as Larry. Well done those chancers for squeezing more cash out of their franchise. How about a special Town TV shirt?

Europablue, if you have a smart TV or a WiFi dongle (like Chromecast or something) you can cast directly from the app. Just saying as an alternative.

This is great news. Will be looking to convert the monthly payment to one off payment as it will save money.
We now need to get them to upload the Full Match replay at the same time that iFollow used to (around midnight - 1:00am UK time) and not 24 hours after the game, like they did with Sunderland.
Also, do not show the result on the replay/highlight link.
Like some others that cannot watch the game live due to family / work commitments, I like to watch the reply "As Live" and get the full excitement of watching the game.

ElephantintheRoom - ??? Go back to your Canary Roots if this is your sad opinion. We now have a club doing everything they can for their fan base and you come out with that. Things may not be 100% perfect but they are 100% better than they were.
