New Kits Released On Saturday
Friday, 30th Jun 2023 09:38

Town will unveil their home and away kits for the 2023/24 season on Saturday morning with the strips immediately going on general sale online and in Planet Blue.

The club shop will open at 8.30am so fans are able to get hold of the new kits ahead of the first friendly at Felixstowe & Walton United in the afternoon (KO 1pm) where the players will be wearing the home strip for the first time. It will stay open until 5pm and again from 10am until 3pm on Sunday.

The kits are produced by Umbro for a second season following the change from Adidas a year ago with Ed Sheeran again the sponsor.

Ahead of the launch, fans are being encouraged to register their details on Town’s new retail website here.

Fans using the click and collect service will not be able to collect their shirts until they have received an email confirmation that the order is ready, which is likely to be between two and four working days.

I'm not buying a shirt every year, so I'll skip this one whatever it looks like!

Haven't ITFC heard we're in a bit of a recession, why don't they wait till next year for a new kit, and give families with kids a break!.

With 50k Town shirts sold last season, why do people think the Club won't repeat a new product! It's where the cl7b makes it's money , merchandise!! I know it's annoying , and I agree it shouldn't happen every year, but the club has to be run on a business model. The first poster on this article has the answer. Don't buy it if you disagree or can't afford it.

Btw is the photo at the star5 of this article taken from the actual shirt? Because it looks to be quite textured material this season if so, and no so shiny and silky …..all will be revealed tomorrow guys .

Looks like it has the waves from the crest running through the fabric?

The club are doing absolutely nothing wrong commercially. Every other club in the 92 brings out new home and away every year, and sometimes 3rd kits. Yes it's a kick in the nuts given the current economic climate, but it makes too much income for the club to stop them doing it.

I understand why the club do this, but I for one won't be buying. I have a Retro COPA 1978 cup final shirt which I'm very happy with. It's a classic and I feel entitled to wear it as I was there at Wembley on that wonderful day.

Not true sisalfsirbob - https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/brentford-keeping-same-kit-two-2556

Squeezing more money out of fans by releasing 3 shirts a season is morally questionable, to the salient points of Europablue and davidwyard. Commercially, it will work but it doesn't make it right. At some point someone (ala Brentford) needs to be brave and put the fans bank account first.

OMG I can't believe some of the comments on here,
Jugsy - there is nothing morally wrong here - as the club is not FORCING anyone to buy anything ( I didn't like red kit from last year so didn't buy it)
Europablue - spot on 👍
Davidwyard - fully understand your point about the kids, but again the club isn't forcing anyone to buy anything ( do feel sorry for parents with kids though)
Muhrensleftfoot- great shirt, great post enough said.
People have to realise that it's a business and will be run accordingly, I'm lucky enough to be able to buy the shirts if I want but only buy if I like them, I'm happy to pay EVERY year if I like them as it looks like these owners are going to spend some serious cash on players and I feel I'm doing my tiny bit to keep that going.
I do appreciate not everyone can afford a new kit every year so do what muhrensleftfoot has done, pick your favourite and buy that one, it'll be cheaper 😃

My only Town shirt is the Paul Hurst training top 2018/19, not many of those little babies sold.
A future classic no doubt.

I still have a tasselled silk scarf from 1975, which has more than paid for itself.

I bought the black out shirt last season. First one lve bought in 15 years. Used to buy them all. But l got past that. And no way am l buying one every year. I think bringing out 3 strips is a little bit greedy on the clubs part and l hope they don't have plans for that this season. There is a recession on after all.

ShetonMalletBlue - producing a new kit isn't tied to promotion to new division.

timkatieadamitfc - morally there is something wrong in the over production of clothing that doesn't serve a functional purpose other than generating money, using materials that aren't environmentally sustainable. Kits are one source of revenue, but the new tv agreement is much more of an essential revenue stream.

A better balance, such as alternating which shirt is refreshed each season, I believe would be more acceptable.

I still have the black and cream, Greene King, striped one, where they spelt Bury St Edmunds wrong and tried to block out the top of the "O" with a green pen to make it look like a "U".

Wish they would not change the tops every season

New season, same old nonsense. Buying a new shirt is not mandatory. If you don't like it or don't want to afford it, then don't buy it. Life is full of choices. Make your own.

As far as I'm aware you buy tickets to enter PR, entry is not gained by wearing the latest kit! Purchase is not obligatory. As for the kids, parents need to learn to say no once in a while!
